Patrol Report July 22, 2014

Offense: Aggravated Robbery (PC 29.03 First Degree Felony)
Case Number: 1407220011
A 28 year old female store clerk called police after the business was robbed by three suspects one of which had a handgun. She said that a young Hispanic male, 17-18 years old, wearing a red shirt, came in and attempted to purchase a tobacco product but the clerk refused since the male did not have identification to verify his age. He left the store only to return a few minutes later to ask again and he was again turned down.

The clerk became suspicious when he returned a third time and purchased a beverage. While he was in the store, two more males entered, one wearing a dark jacket, a ski mask and armed with a handgun, demanding money. The third male jumped over the counter and removed money from the register and all three then left the store. It is unknown if the male suspect who was attempting to purchase items was with the two other suspects, however he fled and officers need to speak to him. He is described as being 5’6”-5’7” tall, about 130 to 150 pounds with black hair. The suspect armed with the weapon was described as a Hispanic male, unknown age, about 5’7” to 5’10”, 140 to 160 pounds, wearing a dark shirt and khaki pants. The suspect who jumped the counter and grabbed the money is described as a white male unknown age height or weight, last seen wearing a black shirt with white writing on it, khaki shorts and a bandana.

Offense: Forgery (PC 32.21 State Jail Felony)
Case Number: 1407210117
Corpus Christi Police Officers responded to a business located in the 1100 block of Waldron Road for an individual attempting to cash a forged check from a car in the drive through lane. Officers were shown a cashier`s check for over $1,700 issued by another bank. That bank was contacted and they said the check was not issued by them and was a forgery. Roberto Seidner (08/15/1949) was arrested for forgery, a state jail felony and transported to the City Detention Center without incident. The 2012 Mercedes sedan he was in was impounded.

The police department reminds everyone to never agree to cash a check or money order made out to you for over the amount you are owed, with the agreement that you will send someone else the difference.

Offense: Child Neglect (PC 22.041 State Jail Felony)
Case Number: 1407210149
Corpus Christi Police responded to a call in the 15000 Leeward Dr. in response to an intoxicated female pushing a stroller in the middle of the road with a child in it. Officers arrived and observed Charlotte Earwood (01/05/1973), staggering while walking north on the side of Leeward Dr. and she was pushing a small pink stroller.

As officers approached the female she nearly lost her balance and fell and when she noticed the officers, she dropped two 16 oz. Lone Star beer cans. Officers contacted her, and they immediately detected a very strong odor of alcohol coming from her person and her breath and she refused to let go of the carrier. The 20 month old child was crying and officers had to pull the females right hand off the carrier`s handle in order for her to let loose of it. Four other witnesses told officers they saw the female staggering while walking and drinking beer and they were concerned for the safety of the female and the child. CCFD EMS responded to check on the child and the female who was identified as the child’s grandmother was arrested. She was charged with child neglect, a state jail felony, and public intoxication, a Class C misdemeanor. The child was released to the grandfather when he arrived at the scene.

Offense: Burglary of a Vehicle (PC30.04 Class A Misdemeanor)
Case Number: 1407210184
A Corpus Christi Police Officer responded to a call about a male hanging around a black BMW in the 800 block of S. Staples Street. The officer observed the only black BMW parked in front of a business and approached the car. He could see someone sitting in the driver seat and he also noticed the window on the driver’s side had been broken out. The male sitting in the car had small cuts on his hands. The officer was able to contact the vehicles owner, and he said that he did not give the male permission to be inside his vehicle. Richard Garcia (04/261995) was arrested for burglary of a vehicle, a Class A misdemeanor. He estimated the damage to the window to be about $200.

Patrol Report July 21, 2014

Location: 1200 Flour Bluff Drive
Offense: Robbery (PC 29.02 Second Degree Felony)

Case Number: 1407200147
Corpus Christi Police Officers responded to a business located 1200 block of Flour Bluff Dr. and contacted a store loss prevention officer who told them she observed a male and a female eat two bananas in the store before purchasing them. The security officer contacted both suspects and directed them to the self-check out to pay for the items. As the items were being scanned the suspects became disruptive and verbally abusive towards store employees. When store security tried to direct the suspects into the loss prevention office one of the suspects grabbed the officer by her upper body to pull her away. Both suspect then left the store in a car. Corpus Christi Police Officers went to the address of the vehicles registered owner and attempted to contact the male suspect. When he saw officers, he ran up the staircase of the mobile home and went inside. Officers contacted him and the male suspect used physical force to resist arrest. Casey Raines (06/06/1981) was arrested and charged with robbery for the physical assault on security following the theft, evading arrest for fleeing on foot from police officers, a Class A Misdemeanor, and resisting arrest, for using physical force to resist arrest, a Class A misdemeanor. The female was not located.

Offense: Burglary of a Building (PC 30.02 State Jail Felony)
Case Number: 1407190045
Corpus Christi Police Officers were dispatched to a business located 3900 block of Laguna Shores Rd. for a theft of an ATM from inside of a business located on a fishing pier. A 62 year old male reported that when he arrived at work he observed two males on a boat near his business. When he observed that the front door to the marina was open, he walked inside and observed that the ATM was missing and he also noticed that the lock on the front door was missing. When he walked back outside the two males on the boat attempted to flee the scene but the boat bottomed out in the shallow water. The suspects were able to regain control of the boat and left toward marker 37.  The boat was later determined to be stolen from a home located on a canal in the same area.

A 45 year old male store clerk called police to report that a young male entered the business located in the 5600 block of Carroll Lane and took a drink from the cooler, and walked out without paying. The store clerk followed the suspect outside and confronted him. The clerk attempted to take the drink from the suspect and a struggle ensued. The suspect got free and was walking away when the clerk took a picture of the suspect with his cell phone. The suspect turned around, ran toward the clerk and punched him several times. The clerk was able to get the suspect on the ground and asked witnesses to call police. The suspect broke free and ran north on Carroll Lane. Corpus Christi Police Officers located the suspect as he walked out of an apartment on Carroll Lane. The suspect ran back into the apartment when he saw officers despite being told to stop. Officers spoke with the suspect through an open window telling him to come out of the apartment. Officers attempted to get the suspect out as he stood by the open window and he began yelling and pulled away. Entry was made into the apartment and the suspect resisted arrest by kicking an officer. After a brief struggle he was taken into custody. Officers charged Preston Felts (07/20/1997) with robbery for the physical assault on the store clerk following the theft, the store clerk sustained minor injuries from the struggle. The suspect was additionally charged with assault on a public servant for kicking the officer, a third degree felony, evading arrest and resisting arrest, both Class A misdemeanors, for fleeing on foot from officers, and using physical force to resist arrest.

Offense: Possession of Controlled Substance (HS 481.115 State Jail Felony)
Case Number: 1407200152
Corpus Christi Police Officers were on the scene of a hit and run crash in the 5100 block of Weber Rd. when a police unit was struck by a 2005 Ford Escape. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Cody Cerda (08/08/1995). While being questioned by police, the suspect gave false information regarding his name and date of birth and he was arrested. He then told officers he had a small bag of cocaine in his pants. Officer located the bag of narcotics inside the suspect’s boxer shorts. The suspect was charged with possession of a controlled substance, a state jail felony, and failure to identify, a Class B Misdemeanor, for giving false information. The suspect vehicle was impounded at the scene. There was only minor damage to the police unit, and an officer inside the unit when it was struck was treated and released from a hospital.

Offense: Driving While Intoxicated (PC 49.04 Class B Misdemeanor)

A Corpus Christi Fire Department Engine Company driver observed a 1998 Ford truck swerve across all lanes of traffic and onto the sidewalk. The truck was driving about 5 mph and members from the fire department were able to exit the fire truck and run up next to the driver`s side of the pickup. They observed the driver Marshall Raney (08/05/1993) to be throwing up on the front passenger in the truck. They yelled at him to stop the truck but the driver was unresponsive. Members of the fire department were able to reach inside the driver`s side window and put the truck in park. Corpus Christi Police arrived and found the driver, a 20 year old male to be intoxicated. He was transported to the hospital due to high level of intoxication and treated. The driver faces charges of Driving While Intoxicated, a Class B misdemeanor once he is released from the hospital. The front seat passenger, Matthew Stonecipher (11/18/1989) was arrested for public intoxication, a Class C Misdemeanor.

Offense: Criminal Trespass (PC 30.05 Class B Misdemeanor)

Corpus Christi Police Officers were dispatched to a business located in the 4400 block of Prescott St., and there contacted a 36 year old female who told them that her husband was on drugs and thought people were chasing him. The male had just left the store on foot running across Gollihar Rd. At about that same time, police were receiving a call from a resident in the 4500 block of Leon St. stating there was a male on the roof of the home. Officers arrived and began trying to talk the male into coming down off the roof. The male refused to come down and was walking around the roof yelling at the officers and people in the street. CCFD responded and they placed a ladder next to the residence so the male could use it to get down. After talking to him for almost an hour he came down off the roof and was taken into custody. Emmanuel Buckingham (01/07/1986) was found to be under the influence of a drug, and he was arrested. He was charged with criminal trespass, a class B misdemeanor, for getting on the roof of someone else’s property.

Corpus Christi Police Officers responded to a robbery at a business located in the 4600 block of Ayers St. A 37 year old female store clerk told officers that she was behind the register when two males walked up to the store. One of the males with half of his face covered with a black mask entered the store and pointed a handgun at the clerk. The clerk asked him “what are you doing, you guys were just here?” The suspect exited the store and fled walking towards the south side of the store. The other suspect never entered the store and followed the other suspect when he left. The clerk reported that nothing was taken or damaged, and she was not injured. The suspects had been to the store about an hour earlier for gas. The clerk mentioned that they are regular customers at the store. At this time officers do not know the names of the two suspects but they are described as both being in their mid-twenties, one is 5’2’’ to 5’4” tall, about 120 to 130 pounds with a medium skin tone, the other 5’4” to 5’5” tall about 140 pounds with a light skin tone.

A Corpus Christi Police Officer on patrol heard fireworks going off in the 3000 block of N. Shoreline Blvd. and then saw two males walking away from the area. The officer stopped both suspects and found one of them, Joey Bernal (07/21/1986) to have three outstanding felony arrest warrants out of Atascosa County, Texas. He was arrested, and the other 26 year old male was released.

Offense: Deadly Conduct (PC 22.05 Class A Misdemeanor)
Case Number: 1407140121
Corpus Christi Police responded to a home located in the 3000 block of Cedar Springs Rd. for a disturbance with a weapon. A 40 year old female victim told officers that she got into a verbal argument with her 17 year old son after she refused to give him money while they were shopping.
Once they arrived at home her son began to throw things around and damage items in the home. He also took several prescription pills and drank a bottle of cough medication. The male then grabbed a butcher knife on the kitchen counter and stabbed holes in the wall, and also punched holes in the wall. The female then tried to call police and while calling 911 the male retrieved a pistol from a locked safe inside the house, and demanded that she hang up. The female was able to complete the call but not able to speak. 911 operators could hear a female yelling on the open line and dispatched officers to the scene. The male then left out the backdoor and jump the back fence with the pistol still in his hand.
Before officers could arrive the male fled the area on foot. After almost two hours of searching, he was located several blocks away on Breedling Dr. and was taken into custody. Markus Franklin (11/25/1996) was transported to a hospital to get medically cleared and then arrested and charged with deadly conduct and interfering with an emergency call, both Class A misdemeanors.

Offense: Dangerous Dogs

Corpus Christi Police and Animal Control Officers responded to a home in the 1700 block of Dawn Breeze Dr. after a 68 year old man shot and killed a dog that he claims attacked him.
A 44 year old female was next door unloading groceries from her vehicle when her dog went out the front door of her home and was at large on the loose. The man said he was in his front yard when the dog attacked him and he fired one shot from a handgun once, killing the dog. Animal Control officers arrived and transported the dog to a veterinarian for a necropsyare to assist with their investigation.

Offense: Possession of Marijuana (HS 481.121 State Jail Felony)
Case Number: 1407140068
A Corpus Christi Police Officer observed a gold Nissan Pathfinder disregard a stop sign at the intersection of Brawner Parkway and Ramsey Street and pulled over the driver.
Jason Tovar (02/13/1982) was driving the vehicle and while the officer was talking to the suspect, he saw marijuana that was wrapped in a rectangular block with a clear plastic outside in the vehicle.
The driver was arrested, for possession of over 900 grams of marijuana, a state jail felony. While officers were impounding his vehicle they found five cell phones and over $900 in cash. All of that property was also seized.

Offense: Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon (PC 46.04 Third Degree Felony)

A Corpus Christi Police Officer stopped a 1994 Cadillac four door for a traffic violation in the 1500 block of Stillman Ave. The driver, Sean Boston (05/10/1985), quickly got out of his car and shut the door and went back to talk to the officer. He was detained in the police unit after the officer found that he did not have a drivers license. The officer then walked up to the vehicle and observed a silver and black handgun on the drivers seat and five bags of synthetic marijuana located in the center console. Officers attempted to open the vehicle, but found that the suspect had locked the door as he was exiting, and left the keys inside. Pop-A-Lock was called and the vehicle was opened and the .40 caliber handgun and the synthetic marijuana were recovered.

Offense: Aggravated Assault (PC 22.02 Second Degree Felony)

Corpus Christi Police Officer responded to a business located in the 700 block of North Staples St. and found a 50 year old male siting outside the store with two stab wounds to the abdomen. The victim was able to give officers a good description of the male who had attacked him and of the female who was with him. The victim said he was walking in the 1200 block of Leopard St. when the suspect approached him and asked for some change and a cigarette. The victim refused, and the suspect stood in his way and did not allow him to leave the area and then began to yell at him. The suspect produced a small folding pocket knife and stabbed the victim. The victim was able to walk to the store and call the police. Officers then saw a male matching the description of the suspect walking with a female in the 1100 block of North Staples St. Steven Simpson (05/07/1959) was taken into custody and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a second degree felony. The 46 year old female with him was released after it was determined that she was not involved in the assault. The victim was transported by CCFD EMS to the hospital to be treated for his stab wounds.

Location: Beach Marker 203 Padre Island
Offense: Aggravated Assault (PC 22.02 Second Degree Felony)

Corpus Christi Police Officers were dispatched to Beach Marker 203 on Padre Island for a fight. Officers contacted two males who told them that they were helping a group of people get their vehicle out of the sand because it had got stuck. The males placed both of their cell phones on the front seat of their truck. After a few minutes they went to get the phones and they were gone. One of the males then pulled a knife and the other male pulled out a hammer and they both confronted the group wanting to know who took the phones. One member of the group walked up on the blind side of the male holding the hammer and hit him on the side of the head knocking him to the ground. Other members of the group started kicking and hitting the male. By the time officers arrived, only the two males that had their phones stolen were still on the beach. The male that was assaulted was transported to the hospital by CCFD EMS for treatment.

A 52 year old female victim reported to police that she was putting gas in her car at a business located in the 4400 block of Weber Rd. when her purse was stolen. The female was standing on the passenger side of her vehicle when she noticed her driver door open up. She stated she observed a male reach in and grab her purse and then get into the passenger side of a white Dodge Durango that was parked next to hers. She ran over to the suspect vehicle but the driver put the vehicle in gear and tried to run over her. A 28 year old male witness said he pulled up and saw a male running from one vehicle and getting into another and heard the female yelling. He was able to provided officers with details about the suspect. The suspect is described as being in his late twenties or early thirties, 5’05” to 5’7” tall, about 140 to 160 pounds with brown hair and glasses. Officers are still looking for suspects involved in this case. Police want to remind people to lock the doors of their vehicles when they are getting fuel, and be aware of cars parked next to you with people sitting inside.

Offense: Driving While Intoxicated (Class B Misdemeanor)

Corpus Christi Police Officers responded to a call about a vehicle that had been involved in a hit and run crash and the driver was thought to be intoxicated. Officers went to a business located in the 5800 block of South Staples St. There they found a 19 year old male witness who said he saw a gray GMC truck strike a vehicle at Holly Rd. and Airline Rd. The witness told officers that the truck`s left tire came off with the impact of the crash. The driver continued going west on Holly Rd. with a missing front tire. The witness followed the vehicle into a parking lot of a business located in the 5800 block of South Staples St. and then detained the driver until officers arrived. Officers contacted Benjamin Ortiz (07-24-1987), and found him to be intoxicated. The crash scene was located in the 6200 block of Holly Rd. Officers determined that the suspect had veered over while traveling east on Holly Rd. and struck a 2000 Nissan four door car that was traveling west. Two victims in the Nissan, a 43 year old driver, and his 9 year old son were not injured. The suspect was charged with driving while intoxicated, a class B misdemeanor, and his vehicle was impounded.

Offense: Criminal Trespass (PC 30.05 Class B Misdemeanor)

Nickolas Swope (02/02/1979) ran onto the baseball diamond at Whataburger Field during a game between the Corpus Christi Hooks and the Midland Rockhounds. The game was in the bottom of the 5th inning when the Rockhounds pitcher hit a Hooks batter in the leg. The fan came running out of the stands on the third base side and ran toward the pitchers mound with his arm cocked back and his fist up. Another player came running up and pushed the suspect down. Several other players surrounded the suspect, and he was escorted off the field. Corpus Christi Police Officers working at the game found the suspect to be intoxicated and he was arrested. The suspect was also charged with threatening assault on the opposing pitcher, a Class C misdemeanor and criminal trespass for running onto the field, a Class B misdemeanor.

Looking For Theft Suspect

DATE: July 3 through July 5, 2014
TIME: 6:30 PM
LOCATION: 1015 Santa Fe Street
OFFENSE: Theft (PC 31.03 Class C Misdemeanor)
CASE # 1407070158
Corpus Christi Police took a report for a theft of property from the Nurses on Wheels business located at 1015 Santa Fe St. The theft occurred sometime between July 3 and July 5. The suspect’s images were captured by security cameras on the property and they show a male with a black cap, black t-shirt, and a black back pack riding a bicycle. Anyone who can identify the individual responsible, or has any additional information about this crime should call the Corpus Christi Police Property Crimes Detectives at 886-2841. Corpus Christi Police responded to an armed robbery at a business located in the 13900 block of Northwest Blvd. A 19 year old employee told officers he was in the back prepping food when he observed a male suspect outside point a handgun at another 16 year old female employee. He intervened and told the suspect that he would give him the money. The suspect pointed the handgun at him and both entered the business. The suspect took money from the cash register and the safe and then left toward the back of the restaurant. The suspect is described as a white male, 20 to 30 years old, 5’10” tall and about 165 pounds. He was last seen wearing a blue long sleeve shirt, gloves, black pants and a mask.

Corpus Christi Police Officers responded to a crash at the intersection of South Alameda St. and Robert Dr. and found a 2008 Jeep Cherokee had struck a utility pole and the driver had abandoned the vehicle and had fled the scene. The crash investigation revealed that the Jeep was traveling south in the 500 block of Robert Dr. when the driver failed to control speed went up and over the curb and onto the sidewalk before striking the pole. While officers were investigating the crash, they received a call from Mick Jarvis (12/21/1988), who was at his home in the 700 block of Lansdown Dr. trying to report the same Jeep stolen. Officers responded and contacted the suspect, and during the investigation determined that the Jeep had not been stolen, and instead had been wrecked into the pole by the suspect, and then he was picked up and given a ride home. It was also determined by officers that the suspect was intoxicated and he was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, a Class A misdemeanor.

A 17 year old female victim told officers that she was assaulted by a male that she knows and a female outside of her apartment in the 5700 block of Saratoga Blvd. The victim told officers that
she had been speaking to a 19 year old male who she had known for three years about him coming over. The male did not arrive until2 AM and when he did, he had a 16 year old female with him. The victim went outside and told officers she was assaulted by both the male and the female. The victim suffered serious bodily injuries as a result of the assault and was transported to the hospital for treatment. Both suspects have been identified however no arrests have been made. The investigation into this assault will continue.

A Corpus Christ Police Officer stopped a 2004 Chevrolet truck that was traveling south in the 5000 block of Carroll Lane for operating a motor vehicle with an expired registration and inspection. The truck was being driven by Raquel Garcia (01/17/1983) and officers determined that there was no valid insurance on the vehicle. As officers prepared to impound the truck, they found a marijuana cigar in the vehicle along with pipes, and a pair of brass knuckles. Inside her pants, officers found pills in an unmarked bottle. The brass knuckles are a prohibited weapon, and she was charged with a third degree felony. She was additionally charged with possession of a dangerous drug for the unmarked pills, possession of marijuana, and possession of a controlled substance.

Corpus Christi Police Officers were dispatched to the intersection of 10th St and Coleman Ave for a crash in which one of the drivers had fled the scene. Officer contacted a 20 year old male passenger who was in a 1991 Chevrolet truck who told them that the driver of the truck was driving so fast down Coleman Ave. that he did not know there was a stop sign at the intersection. While investigating the crash, officers located the driver behind a home in the 1500 block of Mussett St. and transported him back to the scene. The crash investigation revealed that the suspect Rodolfo Hernandez (05/09/1994) was traveling north in the 700 block of Tenth St. when he failed to stop at a stop sigh and crashed into a 2010 silver Honda two door. Inside that vehicle was a 51 year old female driver, and a 41 year old female front seat passenger. After striking them the suspect struck another parked car and a fence. Officer’s determined that the suspect was intoxicated and arrested him. At the hospital the suspect resisted physically the officer’s attempts to get a blood sample by attempting to head butt officers and medical staff. An emergency room nurse was struck in the left forearm by one of the suspect’s blows. Officers were finally able to get the suspect under control and he was treated and taken to the City Detention Center. He was charged with intoxicated assault, for causing injuries at the crash, assault on medical personnel, a third degree felony, and resisting arrest, a class A misdemeanor.

A Corpus Christi Police Officer on patrol in the 5600 block of Leopard St. observed a green Honda Civic sedan that had been reported stolen earlier in the day from an apartment complex in the 3200 block of Antelope St. The vehicle pulled into the parking lot of a business in the 5700 block of Leopard St. and a female, Chloe Huehlefeld (09/14/1981) stepped out and was arrested. The female who was the only person in the car, was arrested for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, a state jail felony and the vehicle was impounded.

Corpus Christi Police Officers responded to a home in the 2800 block of Austin St. for a woman breaking windows to the home with a shovel. As officers arrived they saw Paige Williams (02/22/1994) outside with a shovel in hand breaking out several windows. The female suspect was upset and yelling at her 29 year old boyfriend who was inside the home. The damage was estimated to be over $2200 and the female was arrested for criminal mischief, a Class A misdemeanor. The 60 year old male home owner told officers that he had let the couple stay at his home with him as they had nowhere else to go.

Two Corpus Christi Police Officers on patrol saw two dogs fighting and people trying to separate them. A large brown dog had a grey pit bull by the neck. The large brown dog then released the pit bull and it attacked a female trying to separate the dogs. The pit bull grabbed the female by her right ankle and began to shake her leg. The pit bull released the female after a few seconds and the brown dog then attacked the grey pit bull again. Another person trying to separate the dogs, then got bit on his right wrist. The 58 year old owner of one of the dogs continued to attempt to get them apart and he was finally able to separate and secure them. The 57 year old female that was bitten had a serious injury to her ankle and foot and the 43 year old male that was bitten had a cut on his wrist. Both victims were transported to the hospital by CCFD EMS and Animal Control Officers arrived on the scene and took custody of both dogs.

Crash Sends Two To Jail And Three To Hospital

Corpus Christi Police Officers responded to a single vehicle crash on the Crosstown Expressway that resulted in the freeway being closed for a short time.

The crash investigation revealed that Kimberly Gonzalez (10/25/1982) was driving her 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer north on State Highway 286 (Crosstown Expressway) approaching the Morgan Ave. overpass with another adult Daniel Rivera (01/18/1984) in the front passenger seat. Also in the vehicle, were the drivers three children, a seven year old male, a six year old female and a ten month old female all in the back seat. The two female children were in child safety seats, the male was unrestrained. While traveling north the driver and male front seat passenger got into an argument and the male grabbed and jerked the steering wheel of the vehicle causing the driver to lose control, crash, and roll her vehicle down to the access road.

All three children were transported to Driscoll Children’s Hospital by CCFD EMS with serious bodily injuries. Officers also determined that the female driver was intoxicated, and she was arrested and charged with three counts of intoxicated assault, a third degree felony. The male passenger was also arrested and he was charged with three counts of injury to a child, a third degree felony, and three counts of endangering a child, a state jail felony.

Corpus Christi Police Traffic Investigators closed the freeway until about 6:30 this morning from Baldwin Blvd. to Agnes St. while they investigated the crash.

Corpus Christi Police Officers were dispatched to a business located in the 1100 block of Waldron Rd. for a theft and a hit and run crash. Store employees saw two males and a female steal four beef skirts valued over $100 and place them in a purse which was on the seat of their shopping cart and then exit the store through the front doors. The suspects got into a maroon GMC Sierra truck and as they were backing out of the parking space, they struck a parked 2009 Cadillac Escalade SUV and then fled. Officers responding to the call observed the suspect vehicle traveling on Glenoak Rd. toward Waldron Rd. and stopped the vehicle. The driver Shane Tilley (06/05/1989), and passengers Stephanie Pinder (12/29/1982) and Travis Potts (12/03/1979) were all arrested and charged with Theft, a Class B misdemeanor and the driver was charged with the traffic violations he committed.

A 55 year old male victim called the Corpus Christi Police Department after his 2001 Dodge Ram truck was stolen right in front of him. The victim said he was doing irrigation work at a business located in the 1200 block of Flour Bluff Dr. and had left the truck turned off but the keys somewhere on the seat. He was about 50 yards away from the truck when he saw a white male with a white tank top jump into the driver seat of the vehicle and drive off toward the freeway. Officers are still investigating this call, and have not located the suspect, or recovered the stolen vehicle.

Corpus Christi Police Officers responded to a single vehicle crash with a power pole at Holly Rd. and Weber Rd. During an investigation of the crash, officers spoke to a 20 year old female passenger who told them that they were coming from a night club, and her mother was driving the blue Chevrolet Silverado truck that had hit the pole. The daughter also told officers that her mother had to much to drink to drive, and she even tried to take the keys away from her. Officers contacted the mother, Mary Valdez (11/12/1977) and found her to be intoxicated. She was arrested for driving while intoxicated, a Class B misdemeanor and transported to the City Detention Center, and her vehicle was impounded.

A Corpus Christi Police Officer was travelling north in the 4900 block of Weber Rd. near McArdle Rd. when he observed a 1995 Chevrolet truck run a red light and strike a 2008 Ford F150 truck. The driver of the Chevrolet truck that was traveling west on McArdle Rd. was ejected. His injuries were found to be non-life threatening and he was transported to the hospital by CCFD EMS. Upon investigation officers found him to be intoxicated. Due to the injuries he sustained in the crash, he was released at the hospital for treatment. Charges are expected to be filed against him at a later date. The male and female occupants of the other truck were also transported by CCFD EMS to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

A 23 year old male reported to Corpus Christi Police Officers that while he was parked at an apartment complex in the 1300 block of N. Alameda St. he was approached by two males who asked him if he wanted to buy some CD’s and some marijuana. When the victim refused one of the males began to strangle the victim. That male suspect then produced a handgun and demanded that the victim get out of his truck. When the victim got out, he was knocked to the ground and the suspects reached into his pants pockets and stole money from him. The victim then drove to a convenience store located in the 700 block of N. Staples St. to call police. While officers were there talking to the victim, both suspects came walking up and began to ask officers directions to different places in town. The suspect’s claimed to be from out of town and kept circling around the officers and the victim. Both males continued to stay around until they were told to leave. As the suspects left walking, the victim told the officers that those were the two suspects that had robbed him earlier. Officers arrested David James (10/24/1986) and Lorris Puckett (04/18/1991) for aggravated robbery, a first degree felony.
