“Beer Run” Escalates into Robbery

Officers contacted Stripes Convenience Store employees who reported two females entered the store and stole a 6-pack of beer.  When asked to return the beer, Celeste Joy Mason (12/19/85) returned two of the beers.

Mason was detained by the store employee who asked for the rest of the beer hidden in Mason’s purse.  The other female grabbed the store clerk as she pulled her away from Mason. Both women fled the store in newer model tan Cadillac.

The unidentified woman is described only as a black female wearing a white shirt with a leopard print shorts.  Officers searched for the vehicle and found the Cadillac at Lake and Josephine Streets. Mason was found standing next to the vehicle drinking one of the beers taken in the robbery.

Mason was positively identified by the store employee and arrested.  She was charged with Robbery and an outstanding Nueces County Warrant for Driving While Intoxicated.  Though apprehended, Mason was not done being unlawful.  She slipped her handcuffs to front and began kicking the door of the police car.  Mason’s handcuffs were placed behind her back, but she continued to be resistant to being handcuffed and going to jail.   Once pepper sprayed, Mason complied with the Officers instructions.  She was additionally charged with Resisting Arrest or Transport.

Police Investigate Fatal Crash On Harbor Bridge Saturday Morning

A 31-year-old man died in a single vehicle crash at 2:06am Saturday morning on the north side of the Harbor Bridge.

The 31-year-old man rode his black 2007 Harley Davidson motorcycle north over the Harbor Bridge. The road curves and inclines at the base of the bridge and was dry at the time of the crash. The motorcycle left the roadway just north of the Burleson exit and struck a sign and a street light pole.

The 31-year-old man died at the scene. Corpus Christi Traffic Crash Investigators continue to investigate the cause of the crash and have not yet provided any conclusions.

17 Year Old Arrested For Robbery On 2900 Niagara

A 17-year-old man was arrested for a robbery Friday morning after he refused to pay for a meal.

Corpus Christi Police were called to 3036 South Port Avenue to Las Milpas Restaurant for a complaint that a man refused to pay for his meal and left. Corpus Christi Police Officers were provided a description of the man who they found on the 2900 block of Niagara.

A group of people approached the officers to complain that the suspect in the theft at Las Milpas was responsible for an overnight robbery.

A 19-year-old man said he slept in a garage apartment when 17-year-old Juan Bautista (9/26/1994) kicked open the door with two other men. The 19-year-old man said the three men beat him and stole clothes.

Corpus Christi Police investigated the claim of robbery and discovered enough evidence to arrest Bautista for robbery. The restaurant chose not to pursue criminal charges against Bautista for the theft.

Corpus Christi Police Officers met 18-year-old Derrek Franco (6/18/1994) while they investigated the robbery and discovered Franco had an active warrant for arrest for possession of marijuana. Franco and Bautista were arrested and delivered to the city detention center.

Search Warrant leads to drugs, cash, a gun and two arrests

Officers from the CCPD Narcotic/Vice Investigations Division served a warrant at an address at the 3100 block of Magnolia. 10,600 in cash and 309.18 grams of grams of cocaine were located and seized along with a 9mm pistol. The estimated value of the cocaine is 14,300 dollars. Jorell Armadillo 7/27/86 was charged with manufacture or delivery of Substance in Penalty Group 1. Paul Christian 4/4/56 was also located at the scene and arrested for possession of a controled substance. Two vehicles were also impounded from the scene.

Police Seek Robber On Hancock Avenue

                Corpus Christi Police Detectives would like help from the public to identify and locate a man who robbed a woman on August 23, 2012 at the 800 block of Hancock Avenue.

A 24-year-old woman met a man at Vernon’s Bar. The man said his name was Jerry and convinced the woman to provide him a ride home.  The woman slowed the vehicle near the place Jerry said was his home and then Jerry punched the woman in the face several times and took cash from her purse.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic man who wore a white short sleeve t-shirt, jeans, and white shoes.

Restaurant Employees Stop Thief On Downtown Crime Spree

                An 18 year old woman was arrested for stealing at the Burger King on IH 37 at Chaparral Tuesday afternoon after employees caught the woman and detained her for police.

The 55-year-old manager of the Burger King found 18-year-old Deserae Garza (9/26/1993) in the back of the kitchen at 2:00pm. Garza was not an employee and the store manager quickly discovered that Garza had stolen money from a prepared register drawer in the store office.

The manager held Garza in place until Corpus Christi Police Arrived. It was discovered that Garza had stolen valuables from customer’s purses hanging on chairs in the restaurant. The valuables were returned to the customers.

Corpus Christi Police also discovered that Garza had stolen cash, an iphone, and an ipad from the place in which she applied for employment earlier in the day on the 400 block of Mann Street.

Garza was arrested for robbery, two thefts, and possession of dangerous drugs and then delivered to the city detention center.

Police Seek Burglar In Parks Along Ocean Drive And Ennis Joslin Road

Corpus Christi Police would like help from the public to locate the individual responsible for several burglaries to vehicles along Ocean Drive and Ennis Joslin Road in the past few weeks.

One such burglary happened Monday, September 3, 2012 at Oleander Park. A man parked his gray 2010 Nissan Altima at Oleander Park then went for a walk. The man returned and discovered his right front passenger window broken to his car and items missing from inside the car.

The investigating Police Officer found a witness to the burglary and the witness had taken a picture of the vehicle the suspect used to leave the area. The suspect’s vehicle is a gray 2004 Dodge Ram pickup. Police investigators have the license plate and continue to investigate. The burglar is described as a white man who wore a blue t-shirt and blue jeans.

This truck matches the description provided to Corpus Christi Police in other reports of auto burglaries on Ocean Drive and at Hans Suter Park.

Police Seek Purse Snatcher Near Kostroyz & Gollihar

Corpus Christi Police are searching for a Hispanic man in a white older model pickup truck that stole a purse from a 32-year-old woman as she loaded groceries into her car Sunday afternoon.

A 32-year-old woman told police that she loaded groceries into her car in the parking lot of HEB on Kostoryz Road at Gollihar Road when a man took her purse from the shopping cart. The woman told police the man got into an older model white pick up truck and left northbound on Kostoryz toward McArdle. The 32-year-old woman told police the truck was driven by a heavy-set Hispanic Woman.

The entire event was recorded on store video surveillance cameras and investigators will evaluate the recording to identify any suspects.

The man who took the purse is described as a Hispanic man, between 30 to 40 years in age, about 5 ft. 9 inches tall, about 130 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.

While on patrol, Officer E. Tagle noticed a white Chevy truck turn from Shawnee on to Agnes Street without signaling the turn. The driver, Nemias Gonzalez 11/7/82 was contacted and found to have his driver’s license under suspension. He was arrested. The passenger Michelle Martinez 5/18/86 did not have a valid driver’s license. The vehicle was impounded and upon conducting an inventory, Officer Tagle located a purse that did not appear to belong to the vehicles occupants.  An investigation revealed it was stolen during the incident posted above. Their vehicle and general physical descriptions matched those described in the original theft report. Both suspects were arrested for the theft of the purse. Additional items were also located in the truck and further investigation will determine if that property is stolen as well.

One Man Stabbed, One Man Shot In Fight on Van Loan Avenue

Two men were sent to the hospital Sunday afternoon with serious injuries after they were in a fight that started on the 1700 block of Van Loan Avenue and ended with a vehicle crash on the 1600 block of Stillman Avenue.

A 33-year-old man got into a fight with a 30-year-old man on the 1700 block of Van Loan Avenue Sunday afternoon. The 33-year-old was then stabbed by the 30-year-old with a broken bottle. The 33-year-old man got into a green 1997 Mercury Grand Marquis and fled.

The 30-year-old got into the Mercury with the 33-year-old man and continued to fight until the car crashed into a parked and unoccupied 1996 Jeep Cherokee at the 1600 block of Stillman Avenue.

The 30-year-old man was shot in the back by four men that left the area in a red Dodge Charger.

The 30-year-old man and the 33-year-old man were taken to the hospital and into surgery in critical condition.

The event is in the early stages of the investigation and detectives continue to piece together information. The event is not believed to be gang related. Police have not yet arrested anyone related to this event.

Corpus Christi Police are searching for four black men in a red Dodge Charger that were responsible for discharging a firearm that caused serious injury to the 30-year-old man.

Man Steals Lawn Care Equipment From Van

Corpus Christi Police ask help from the public to identify and locate the persons responsible for stealing lawn care equipment from a vehicle on Friday, August 17, 2012 at the 200 block of Atlantic Street.

A Hispanic man drove a red Ford Explorer with a Hispanic woman as a passenger on the 200 block of Atlantic at 2:32 pm and stopped next to a silver 1999 Plymouth Voyager. The man got out of the Explorer, threw rocks at the window of the Voyager to break the window. The man then pulled out two line trimmers valued at $125 from the inside of the Voyager. The man got into the Explorer and drove away west on Atlantic.

The man is described as a Hispanic male, 20 to 25 years of age who wore a black cap, light blue shirt, and black shorts. The woman passenger is described as a Hispanic female, 20 to 25 years of age who wore her hair in a bun.
