Police Narcotics/Vice Investigators Conduct Warrant Service

Wednesday, May 1, 2013, at approximately 11:31am the Corpus Christi Police Narcotics/Vice Investigators, Gang Unit and SWAT officers executed an arrest/search warrant at 4513 Cedar Pass. The officers seized .26 grams of crack cocaine,  326.05 grams of marijuana (approx. 3/4 lb), 7.94 grams of Alprazolam and a Taurus 9mm pistol.

  Jonathan Castaneda 03/29/85 (a known gang member) was arrested and charged with felon in possession of a firearm,  manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance,  possession of marijuana and possession of a controlled substance penalty group 3.

The Corpus Christi Police Department participated with the Drug Enforcement Agency and held the National Prescription Drug Takeback event this past Saturday in Corpus Christi. The purpose of the event is to reduce pollution from improperly disposed medications and to reduce misuse of prescription drugs. These are the local results from the event:

Narcotics/Vice Division Make Arrest

On Monday April 1, 2013, during the course of an ongoing investigation, Narcotics/Vice (NVID) officers were conducting surveillance on a residence located in the 3000 Blk of Elgin St.

As a result of their investigation NVID officers stopped a vehicle observed leaving the location which led to the seizure of 2 kilograms of powder cocaine and the arrest of Jose Hernandez 03/25/1983 for manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance, a 1st degree felony.

Narcotics Division Has Busy Day

Officers conducted a traffic stop at Baldwin and Elizabeth. The driver, Gilberto Bustamante (10.22.1983) had an outstanding warrant and was taken into custody. During an inventory search of the vehicle he was driving, Officers found crack cocaine along with marijuana. Officers also seized $750 in cash. Officers also arrested Jessica Gaytan (5.13.1986), who was with Bustamante in the vehicle. Both individuals were taken to the City Detention Center and booked.

Officers with the Narcotics/Vice Division served a Search Warrant at 4117 Stafford. Officers seized cocaine and marijuana at the location along with nearly $1700.00 in cash. Arrested at the location was Mario Espinosa (9.2.1987). He was taken to the City Detention Center and booked.

Narcotics/Vice Investigators Execute Warrant Service on Josephine Street

Corpus Christi Police Narcotics Vice Investigations Division Officers executed a search and arrest warrant at 224 Josephine Street on Thursday, March 14, 2013 at about 11:00am. The warrant was the product of a series of complaints of drug dealing in the area.

Officers seized .41 grams of crack cocaine, .26 grams of powder cocaine, and a marijuana joint, along with $807.00 in cash.

Operation Imitation Nation

On Friday February 1, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. the Corpus Christi Police Department’s Narcotics Vice Investigations Division (NVID) in conjunction with the Gang Unit, the Organized Crime Unit and the Uniform Patrol Division kicked off “Operation Imitation Nation” and served 8 search warrants as well as 8 arrest warrants at various retail establishments throughout Corpus Christi.

The warrants were issued as the result of a 16 month undercover investigation by NVID into the selling and distribution of illegal synthetic marijuana products and illegal drug paraphernalia by the targeted retail locations.

There will be a press conference this evening at a time yet to be determined at which time the media will be provided further details of the operation.  The locations at which search and arrest warrants were served are as follows:

Couple Arrested after Officers Investigate Citizen’s Complaint of Drug Sales

Officer G. Cantu contacted the residents at 3922 Tiger after he was advised they were selling Marijuana and other drugs out of the home.  Senior Officer J. Smith and Officer Cantu knocked on the door and when it was opened they could smell burnt Marijuana coming from inside the home.  Richard Rodriguez (06/02/89) allowed Officers inside the home.  Also in the home was his girlfriend Angel M. Rangel (12/10/88) and his Mother.

Further investigation revealed Rodriguez had been smoking Marijuana inside the home and was in the process of making himself something to eat when Officers arrived.   A search of the house turned up a quantity of Marijuana, Heroin, and an assortment of pills along with $1400 cash.  The drugs and money were seized along with several scales.

Rodriguez was arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Dangerous Drug, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.   Rangel was also arrested when Officer C. Volling found her to have a baggy of Marijuana in her coat pocket.  She was charged with Possession  of Marijuana.

Police Arrest Three Men For Heroin Distribution On North Naylor Circle

                Three men were arrested Thursday for their involvement with heroin trafficking in the Corpus Christi area. The Corpus Christi Police Narcotics/Vice Investigation Division conducted an investigation on a residence in the 3500 block of North Naylor Circle.

The Investigators followed a vehicle from the house on Naylor Circle and then conducted a traffic stop at the 500 block of 19th Street.  The investigators discovered a large amount of cash and heroin. Investigators arrested 31 year old Ruben Soliz (12/2/1980) and 21 year old Brandon Reyes (12/28/1990) for possession of a controlled substance.

Investigators then went to the 3500 North Naylor and served a search warrant and then discovered more narcotics. Investigators arrested 18 year old Anthony Liscano (3/29/1994) at the residence for tampering with evidence.

Investigators will apply for seizure of the cash, two televisions, and a vehicle in connection with this case.

The Narcotics seized include:

 

  • Powder Heroin :  468.08 grams  ($11,200 value)
  • Hydro Marijuana : 28.83 grams ($375 value)
  • Meth :  1 gram  ($140 value)

Undercover Officers Arrest 10 in “Jane Sting”

The Narcotics Vice Investigations Division conducted an undercover prostitution sting on October 17, 2012 beginning at 6:00pm and ending at 9:30pm.  The sting targeted the prostitutes in specific areas in which complaints have been received, mainly in the North Central region of the city.  The sting resulted in the arrest of ten men and women.  They include:

The men and women were booked at the City Detention Center.  One man and five women were charged with Prostitution, which is a Class “B” Misdemeanor punishable by up to 180 days in jail and a $2,000 fine.  Two of  the women  were charged with Prostitution, a State Jail Felony (three or more convictions) which is punishable by up two years in jail and $10,000 fine.  Two were also booked on drug related State Jail Felonies.
