A 21 year old female called Corpus Christi Police after she was assaulted while someone tried to take her cell phone outside the Sam’s Club, located at 4833 South Padre Island Drive.

Officers arrived and the female victim told them that she was standing outside of Sam`s Club by the front doors when a red Ford Mustang drove up and the female driver asked to borrow the victims cell phone. When the victim refused, the female driver got upset and got out of her vehicle and angrily began to shout at the victim.

The victim then used her phone to take a picture of the female suspect.  The suspect grabbed the phone and punched the victim in the face several times.  The victim, who was not seriously injured, was able to hold onto her phone through the attack.

After failing to get the phone the female suspect got back into her car and left.

After making a police report, the victim went home and posted the photo she had taken of the suspect on Facebook.  A short time later, a Facebook friend identified the female and the victim notified the police.

Officers went to the home of the suspect, Jasmine Salazar (09/23/1993) and arrested her for robbery.

Police Investigate Man’s Death on Capitan Drive

Date: Saturday, March 12, 2016, 9:37am
Location: 2322 Capitan Drive

Event: Unattended Death
Case Number: 1603120052

Corpus Christi Police Homicide Investigators are investigating the death of a 39-year-old man on the 2300 block of Capitan Saturday.

Corpus Christi Police responded to Capitan at 9:37am when a person phoned for help for an unconscious man who was outside an apartment on the stairs and appeared in need of medical help. Corpus Christi Fire Department Medical staff determined the man was not alive and Police Officers requested additional resources to evaluate the scene because the man was 39 years old and appeared not to have any obvious medical condition that would have contributed to the death.

The Corpus Christi Police Homicide Investigators, the Police Forensics Lab Technicians, and the Nueces County Medical Examiner’s Office responded to gather information and evidence. Detectives gathered more information and have not found any obvious indication of cause of death and there was no indication that the death was caused by the criminal action of another person. Detectives are investigating the death as an unattended death which means the person died without observation by a medical physician. The Nueces County Medical Examiner’s Office will evaluate the man to determine a cause of death and certify whether the death was a homicide or not such as an accident or pre-existing medical condition.

Corpus  Christi Police Detectives would like to have all information about this case before arriving at a conclusion and ask anyone with any additional information to contact Detectives at 886-2600 during business hours to provide any additional details.
