City’s Latest Homicide

Corpus Christi Police Officers were dispatched to 3854 SPID in reference to a nature unknown. Upon arrival officers located a 22 year old male in the parking lot bleeding from the head. The responding officers discovered that the victim had been stabbed several times. The victim was transported to Spohn Memorial where he died from his injuries at 2:07 am.

The preliminary information officers have is that there was a argument between two males. The argument escalated in the parking lot and at some point during this argument the victim was stabbed. A male subject wearing blue jeans and a white shirt was seen running from the location. Corpus Christi Homicide Detectives are actively working this homicide and are currently interviewing witnesses.

Corpus Christi Police Department officers were dispatched to 4223 S. Alameda in reference to a traffic accident with injuries. Officers contacted a witness who advised the incident was not an accident that a female purposely struck her boyfriend with the vehicle. Officers contacted the male victim who was in a lot of pain and would not cooperate with police officers. The male was taken to Doctors Regional Medical Center for treatment.

The witness advised that the incident started inside the bar and continued outside in the parking lot. The witness advised that he saw the 30 year old male strike the 29 year old female possibly knocking her unconscious. The female woke up, grabbed her keys and stated that she was going to hit the male with her car. The female drove her Nissan Altima directly at the male. The male was struck with the front of the car carrying him about 30 feet and then striking the building causing significant damage. The female struck another vehicle and fled the scene. Officers searched the area but were unable to locate the female.

Corpus Christi Police Officers arrested 20 year old Rosendo C. Gonzales (02-13-1996) for cruelty to non livestock animals.

Officers were called to 3600 S, Saxet Dr. after the Corpus Christi Fire Department responded to smoke in the area and located a dog carcass in a bar-b-que pit. Engine-5 had put the fire out prior to officers arriving. Officers observed the small dog inside the bar-b-que pit. Officers attempted to make contact with the suspect, but there was no response. Officers contacted family members who arrived at the scene. They were able to make contact with the suspect and gain entry into the house.

Rosendo was asked about the incident. He stated that he was petting the dog and was bit. He reacted causing serious injury to the dog. He panicked and put the dog on the bar-b-que pit in order to get “rid of it”. Officers arrested Rosendo and transported him to the City Detention Center.

Crime Scene Technician processed the scene. Animal Control Officers collected the carcass inside the bar-b-que pit in order to preserve evidence.

Mosquito found with West Nile Virus in local neighborhood

Animal Care and Vector services received confirmation today that a mosquito from our trap off the 2900 block of Lawton tested positive for West Nile Virus. The mosquito was collected last Tuesday.  Vector personnel will be out aerial spraying the neighborhood for the next three nights.

Directed patrol officers and neighborhood services personnel will be attempting to locate any standing water in the neighborhood including examining abandoned properties.

We need to remind local residents to check their property for standing water and to apply mosquito repellent to themselves and to their children.

Corpus Christi Police Officer arrested 21 year old Virginia Fuentes (03/27/1995) for aggravated assault family violence at 6033 Leopard Street.

CCPD officers were dispatched to 6033 Leopard St. in reference to a disturbance with a weapon. The call was updated that a female was armed with a knife and chasing a male. Officers arrived and located the 56 year old victim outside the room. Officers contacted both subjects and separated them in an effort to find out what happened. The suspect, Virginia, was upset because she found a picture of a nude woman and that she and the victim were only arguing. A third officer arrived and contacted some witnesses. The witnesses advised that the heard  the two arguing from about sixty feet away. They then saw the victim being pushed out of the room and the door slammed shut. The witnesses advised the suspect, Virginia, exited the room with a large knife and followed the victim as he got into the drivers side of a vehicle. Virginia opened the passenger side door and was making a forward motion with her arm and it appeared that she was trying to cut the victim. Virginia exited the vehicle and cut the front passenger tire with the knife.

Due to Virginia’s action in trying to assault the victim, displaying the knife in a threatening manner and to prevent further violence from occurring, Virginia was arrested and transported to the City Detention Center.

Corpus Christi Police Officers were dispatched to 3533 S. Alameda, Driscoll Children’s Hospital, in reference to an assault. Contact was made with the 20 year old victim who had redness, swelling and bleeding all about his face.

The victim advised that he went to a convenient store on Norton. He advised he had a little bit of money which might have gotten the interest of two people at the store. The victim began to walk home when he was blind sided by the suspects and beaten about the face. The two suspects took the victims wallet and phone and were attempting to take his shoes. The suspects were unable to get his shoes possibly due to a citizen trying to help him.

The victim went home and told family members what had happened to him and he was immediately taken to the hospital. The victim was not able to get a description of the suspects due to him being attacked from behind.

City Hosts Vehicle Auction Saturday

The City of Corpus Christi will auction 97 cars, trucks, and motorcycles at the Police Vehicle Impound Lot, located at 5485 Greenwood Drive, on Saturday, July 2, 2016. The auction will start at 10:00 am.

The general public is encouraged to register and view the vehicles for auction from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm on Friday, July 1, 2016. The general public can continue to view the vehicles from 8:00 am to 10:00 am on the day of the auction.

The vehicles for auction may be viewed online and an auction list may be downloaded from www.siskauction.com.

Corpus Christi Police arrested 19 year old Matthew Isaiah Longoria (03/04/1997) for assault with bodily injury/family violence at 2000 Gardenia Courts.

Officers received a call that a male was arguing with a female and that he was dragging her out of the apartment. Officers arrived and contacted a witness at the residence.  The witness stated that Longoria had smoked synthetic this morning and that he and the victim had been arguing and fighting since Friday. The witness stated that Longoria was upset because he wanted the victim to somewhere with him and she did not want to go. The witness stated that the victim went outside with the suspect who then began hitting the victim. The witness tried to pull the victim back inside the apartment but was over powered by the suspect.  The witness said she saw the suspect strike the victim several times and then choke her. CCPD officers located Longoria and the victim walking through the complex together. The 24 year old victim was not very cooperative with the investigating officers. The suspect (Longoria) was arrested and transported to the City Detention Center. Longoria was also charged with failure to identify for giving a false name to the arresting officers.

Corpus Christi Police Officers responded to 1455 Corban Drive in reference to a disturbance with a gun. Officers received an update to the call that the victim had been hit in the head with the gun and the suspects were still on scene near a maroon Expedition. Officers arrived and observed two male suspects near the maroon Expedition who took off running when they saw the police. Officers gave chase but lost sight of the suspects as they ran in between buildings. A perimeter was set and K-9 searched the area but were unable to locate the suspects.

The victim advised that he had moved his vehicle from one parking spot to another. While he was outside his vehicle he was approached by the suspect who pointed a shotgun towards his face. The victim and the suspect exchanged some words and the second suspect appeared and told the suspect holding the shotgun to “finish him”.  The victim was struck in the head with the shotgun. The victim was able to flee and run into a nearby apartment and call the police. Officers located a shotgun at the scene and it was collected by Crime Scene Investigators.

Corpus Christi Police arrested 22-year-old Jorge Hernandez (3/21/1994) for shooting four people in a nightclub located at 2623 Baldwin Boulevard Sunday morning.

A Corpus Christi Police Officer investigated a robbery related to Case # 1606260011 at the intersection of Baldwin Blvd and Greenwood Drive at 2:07am when he heard several gunshots that sounded like it came from Bonanza nite club (2623 Baldwin Blvd). The Officer then observed several people leaving the club and yelling that someone was shooting a gun.

The Officer responded to the club and was directed inside to the shooter. The Officer challenged the shooter in the club, and Jorge Hernandez surrendered immediately. Witnesses told the Officer that Hernandez was involved in a fight in the club and then Hernandez displayed the handgun and shot four people. The Officer arrested Hernandez for four counts of aggravated assault and delivered Hernandez to the city detention center.

The four injured people are all expected to survive their injuries.

Corpus Christi Police arrested 25-year-old Isaac Sauceda (7/19/1990) for aggravated robbery that happened at an apartment complex located at 5802 Everhart Road Saturday night.

A 25-year-old man told Officers that he exited his vehicle and was approached in the parking lot by an unknown man with a handgun who demanded his money and phone. The 25-year-old man told Officers the unknown man was dropped off in a white sedan, driven by an unknown woman, that was parked just as the 25-year-old man arrived. The 25-year-old man told Officers he pulled out his wallet and handed it to the suspect along with his cell phone. The 25-year-old man told Officers the man was disappointed by the lack of money in the wallet and noticed there was a debit card in the wallet. The 25-year-old man told Officers Another unknown man ran up from another apartment building where they demanded the PIN and told the 25-year-old man to get into the white sedan to take them to an ATM to withdraw money. The 25-year-old man told Officers he stated he had no money in his account to give to them so the two unknown men forced the 25-year-old man into his apartment where a 21-year-old man was inside watching a movie. The 25-year-old man told Officers that the two unknown men barged into the apartment with the 21-year-old man and ordered him to remove the televisions and place them next to the door. The 25-year-old man told Officers that the initial suspect with the gun held him at gun point in the living room while the second suspect rummaged through the apartment. The 21-year-old man told Officers he observed an opportunity to escape through the front door while the suspects were distracted and he did so, running to a neighbors apartment.

Officers searched the area and developed information to locate Isaac Sauceda at an address on the 4000 block of Panama and then arrested Sauceda for aggravated robbery, a first degree felony punishable by up to 99 years in prison. Officers delivered Sauceda to the city detention center and continue to investigate to capture any other person responsible for this crime.

Corpus Christi Police are investigating a kidnapping complaint that happened on the 4400 block of Mount Vernon Drive.

Corpus Christi Police responded to a home on the 4400 block of Mount Vernon at about 12:30am Saturday when a 51-year-old man told Police his 16-year-old daughter was taken against her will by a 17-year-old man Saturday morning.

The 51-year-old man told Officer that the 17-year-old man is the ex-boyfriend to his 16-year-old daughter and the two teenagers have a child together. The 51-year-old man told Officers that the 16-year-old girl received several texts from the 17-year-old man who requested a meeting, and then the 17-year-old showed up across the street from the residence of the 51-year-old man, and the 16-year-old girl went out to speak with the 17-year-old man. The 51-year-old man told Officers that he heard his daughter scream and saw the 17-year-old man grab the 16-year-old girl by the arms and drag her into a 2007 red Toyota Tundra truck. The 51-year-old man told Officers the step mom of the 17-year-old man was in the front passenger seat, and the dad of the 17-year-old man was the driver of the truck at the time of the event. The 51-year-old man told Officers the truck drove away with the 16-year-old girl. The 51-year-old man told Officers he tried to stop the truck as it left, but he was knocked to the ground and suffered minor injuries.

Officers went to several addresses and found the 16-year-old girl at 4:30am. The 16-year-old girl told Officers she was not abducted. The 16-year-old girl told Officers the argument was between the 17-year-old man and her father because they dislike one another.

The 16-year-old girl was returned home safe. No criminal charges have been pursued.

Domestic Violence Warrant Arrest At The Ballgame

On 6/14/2016 a detective from the CCPD Family Violence Unit spent her workday obtaining an arrest warrant on a 25 year old man who was accused of assaulting and choking his girlfriend. This accused offender was already on five years of probation for a similar incident.  The arrest warrant with a $75,000 bond was signed by a judge that afternoon. The detective finished her workday and headed to Whataburger Field to work off duty at a Hooks baseball game.

She was not at the game very long when the wanted offender walked right by her. The offender was accompanied by the same girlfriend, the victim of the assault.   The offender was arrested.

The judge that signed the warrant was also at that game.

A 35 year old man called Corpus Christi Police after he said two females beat him up and stole items from him in a motel room located at 5423 Leopard Street.

The man told Officers that he answered an ad on a social media website about getting an in room massage at the motel.  When he went to the room, a female let him in.   Once inside another female pulled out a knife and demanded his property.

The man reported that the two females took cash, along with two bottles of cologne, and a pair of headphones from him.  The man, who was not injured, left the room and called the police.

The female armed with the knife was said to be a tall Hispanic with a prominent neck tattoo.

At this time, none of the two female suspects have been identified.

Corpus Christi Police arrested a man after he intentionally hit the back end of another vehicle that was being driven by his mom’s ex-boyfriend, with the truck that he was driving.

An Officer observed a 2008 GMC truck being chased by a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado truck as both vehicles traveled at a high rate of speed west in the 4700 block of South Padre Island Drive.

The Officer then saw both trucks exit off the freeway at Weber Road and then they both ran the red light at the McArdle Road intersection.  The Officer was able to get both vehicles stopped in the 4000 block of Lamont Street.

The driver of the Chevrolet told Officers that he knew the driver of the GMC truck was an ex-boyfriend of his mom.  He told Officers that he was tired of the ex-boyfriend driving by his mom’s house.

The 43 year old ex-boyfriend said that the driver of the truck intentionally struck the rear of his vehicle several times while chasing him down the freeway.

Officers found damage to the front of the Chevrolet and the rear of the GMC.

Michael Abusalah Lopez (03/31/1995) was arrested for aggravated assault.

No one was seriously injured.

An employee of a business, located at 13433 Leopard Street, called Corpus Christi Police after he found a skimming device on one of the stores gas pumps.

Officers were told by the employee that he was working on the gas pumps and when he opened up the credit card machine at gas pump 4, he saw the device.  The skimmer devise was plugged into the back of the credit card reader.

Officers collect the device as evidence.

At this time the person who put the skimming device on the gas pump has not been identified.

Corpus Christi Police arrested a male driver for DWI after an Officer observed him driving well under the speed limit on the freeway without any lights on.

The Officer was on patrol when he noticed that a 2007 Nissan Altima sedan was traveling very slowly west on State Highway 358 near Weber Road.  The Officer also noticed that the vehicle did not have any lights on, and one of the turn signals was continuously flashing.

The Officer stopped the car and after an investigation he determined that the driver, Rene Castillo (02/20/1949), was intoxicated.

The driver was arrested for driving while intoxicated, a third degree felony, and his vehicle was impounded.

A teenage male was arrested by Corpus Christi Police after he climbed onto the outside railing of the Harbor Bridge.

When the Officer arrived he saw the man at the top of the bridge on the east side climbing around the structure.  The Officer got the man to come into the roadway to speak to him while other Officers blocked traffic.  When the Officer informed the man that it was illegal to climb on the railing outside the pedestrian walkway, the man climbed back over the barricade and sat down on the railing over the water.

The Officer went across the walkway and grabbed the teenager, Roberto Valencia (12/1/21997), while he was sitting on the railing and arrested him.
