Corpus Christi Police seek the identity and location of a man accused of exposing himself to three boys in the Flour Bluff area.

A 38-year-old man said he conducted work on a house on the 1600 block of Oneill Street and saw a white Ford sport utility vehicle, possibly a Ford Explorer, with a blue skull sticker on the back window. The 38-year-old man said he saw the vehicle pass three times. The man said the vehicle slowed each time it passes until a 12 and 13-year-old boys told the 38-year-old man who the driver of the vehicle exposed himself each time the vehicle passed.

The operator of the vehicle was described as a middle 20’s years in age heavy-set Hispanic man.

Corpus Christi Police Property Crimes Investigators ask for help from the public to identify and locate two individuals that are responsible for several thefts from local Wal-Mart stores.

Corpus Christi Police were called to investigate a man and a woman who stole $735 worth of merchandise from the Wal-Mart on Saratoga Boulevard. The man and woman loaded a cart with merchandise, and then walked out of the store without paying for the merchandise.

The Wal-Mart loss prevention employees told police this is not the first time this couple has conducted this theft from the same store. The Wal-Mart employees provided several images from the security camera system to police to aid the investigation.

The man is described as approximately 5 ft. 9in. tall, 180 pounds, brown short hair, brown eyes, with large ears and is between middle 20’s to early 30’s years of age.

The woman is described as approximately 5 ft. 2 in. tall, 150 pounds, brown hair with highlights, brown eyes and had hickeys on her neck. The woman is estimated to be in her middle 20’s in age.

The couple used a maroon 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe that displayed license plate BG71655.

Man Arrested In Connection with Passing Counterfeit $100 Bills, Two Others Sought

Officers responded to World Market at Moore Plaza for counterfeit money being used.   Upon their arrival, Officers located the unoccupied suspect vehicle in the Marshall’s parking lot.  Officers set up on the vehicle and waited for the suspects.  Shortly thereafter, Hector Ruiz (08/13/1985) was seen driving away in the vehicle and pulled him over.

Further investigation revealed, Ruiz along with his two accomplices were involved in passing forged $100 bills to several stores in the Moore Plaza shopping center.  Officers were able to confirm World Market, Rue 21, Kirkland’s, Pets Mart, and Bed, Bath and Beyond were victims of the counterfeiters.  Several other business in the shopping center have been contacted as possible victims.

Ruiz was arrested and charged with five counts of Forgery of a Government Instrument/Money/Securities along with Manufacture with Intent to Sell Counterfeit Instruments.  Each charge is a 3rd Degree Felony and punishable by up to 10 years and a fine up to $10,000.  During their impound inventory, Officers found a laptop, printer and scanner along with store merchandise inside the vehicle.  His two accomplices are still outstanding.  The second suspect is described as a Hispanic female, 24 years of age, 5’2″ feet tall with black hair and brown eyes.  The third suspect is described as Hispanic male with designs on one side of his hair and dressed in black.

Elderly Driver Fails to Control Car Strikes Home

Officers responded to 1209 17th Street for a major accident in which a 77-year-old man driving a silver Kia Rio exited the freeway and hit the home.  

Further investigation revealed the driver who was traveling southbound on 1200 Hwy 286 failed to stay in one land and jumped the curb, striking a “Do Not Enter” street sign.  The victim overcorrected, crossed back over the exit ramp,  and jumped the curb.  He then drove through a gate and fence, striking the residence. 

According to Lt. D. Moore, “the collision caused extensive damage to both the house and the vehicle.”  The driver was taken to Spohn Memorial with pain to his hip.  He was cited for Failure to Maintain a Single Lane.

77-Year-Old Woman Assaulted When She Defends Her Son

A 50-year-old male told Officers a man and a woman showed up at the family home looking for his sister.  An argument ensued which led to the victim being assaulted by the pair.  The victim was punched by the male and knocked to the ground where the female continued the assault by hitting him with a baton like stick.

The victim’s 77-year-old mother intervened in attempt to help her son, but she herself became a victim when the female suspect turned on her. The elderly female was struck in the chest with the stick.  Her son sustained bruises to his face and right arm. 

The first suspect is described as a White female, 43 years of age, 5’10” feet tall, and weighing 130 lbs.  The second suspect was described as White male, 25 to 50 years of age, 5’6” feet tall and weighing 230 to 250 lbs.

Last Of 3 Stabbing Suspects Surrenders to Police

The search by police for 31-year-old Erasmo Verdin (1/20/1981) ended after Verdin surrendered and turned himself in to custody of authorities Sunday.

Verdin was sought by police for his participation in the aggravated assault at the Midway Club on June 27, 2012. A 44-year-old man was chased down and stabbed by three men on June 27, 2012 at the club. The 44-year-old man was taken to the hospital with life threatening injuries.

Patrol Officers, Gang Unit Investigators, and Homicide/Robbery Detectives collaborated with one another and identified the suspects.  Gang Unit Investigators were able to obtain three warrants for gang members Dionicio Garcia aka “Nicho” (12/04/56), Daniel Cantu Jr. aka “Shadow” (11/26/71), and Erasmo Verdin aka “Little Rascal” or “Lucky” (01/20/81).  All three were wanted for Engaging Organized Criminal Activity/Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.  Their bond was set at $500,000.

Garcia and Cantu were arrested but Verdin was at large until he surrendered Sunday.

Man Beat With A Hammer Sent To Hospital

A 46-year-old man was arrested on Port Avenue Saturday afternoon after he beat a 36-year-old man with a hammer.

The 46-year-old man, Reymundo Rivera (1/2/1966) sat with his 38-year-old girlfriend under the overpass at State Highway 286 and South Port when a 36-year-old man walked up and demanded sex from the 38-year-old woman. Rivera stood up to the 36 year old man and refused the demand.

Rivera then fought with the 36 year old man and then hit the 36 year old man several times in the torso with a claw hammer. Police saw puncture wounds on the 36-year-old man consistent with a strike from a hammer.

The 36-year-old man was taken to Spohn Memorial Hospital for treatment. Rivera was arrested for Aggravated Assault punishable by up to 20 years in prison and up to a $10,000 fine.

On 07/05/12 the Narcotics Vice Investigations Division executed a search warrant at an apartment at 4014 Holly Rd after patrol responded to a call for weapons at this apartment which led to a possible hostage situation. Once inside the officers observed a quantity of marijuana and notified the Narcotics Vice Investigations Division. Upon obtaining and executing a search warrant for narcotics, officers located marijuana, heroin, crack and powder cocaine. During the search three handguns were located concealed inside the apartment. One of these handguns was found to be stolen out of Brazos County, TX and a second was stolen out of Corpus Christi. This search led to a warrant being written on a nearby apartment in the same complex. Once inside the second location, officers located two more stolen weapons, one out of Brazos County, and another out of Corpus Christi. Some methamphetamine and synthetic marijuana were also recovered inside the apartment. Below listed are the case numbers, subjects arrested and items seized:

Man Arrested in Connection with Crime Spree

Juan Candia Clark’s (11/21/72) “crime spree” began early Thursday morning when he along with another male began threatening the victim and smashing the windows to the her silver Cadillac.  The suspect also slashed the victim’s tires.  Clark also rammed the victim’s apartment with his vehicle.  Clark who was accompanied by another male continued to shatter the windows to his own vehicle before fleeing.  Clark later called the victim and threatened to blow up the house.  

At 9:45 am, Officers contacted the victim who reported she heard a loud crashing sound and looked outside to fine a white SUV had driven onto her driveway.  The driver of the vehicle rammed his SUV into her parked gray Mitsubishi Galant multiples times before driving off.

Shortly thereafter, Officers were advised of a drunk driver in the area of S. Padre Island Drive and Carroll Lane.  This vehicle matched the same description of the vehicle involved in both crimes.  Officers pulled over the vehicle and contacted Juan Candia Clark (11/21/72) who appeared to be intoxicated.

He was administered a Standard Field Sobriety Test and a warrant was obtained for a blood specimen.  Clark was arrested and charged with an outstanding Municipal Court warrant for Failure to Maintain Financial Responsibility, Driving While Intoxicated, two counts of Criminal Mischief, and Terroristic Threats.

Speeding Motorist Arrested for DWI

An Officer patrolling his beat heard a vehicle’s engine being revved very loudly.  He looked in the direction of the sound and observed a red Chevrolet Tahoe traveling Westbound in the 5300 block of Lipes in excess of 80 mph.  

The Officer reports the Tahoe fishtailed when it hit a dip in the roadway.  The Tahoe struck and jumped the curb and continued to spin out of control once it returned onto the roadway.  The Tahoe came to a stop and the Officer pulled in front of  it and blocked him. 

Thomas Michael Goralczyk (02/14/89) was contacted and appeared to be intoxicated. He was administered Standard Field Sobriety Tests and a Blood Draw.  Goralczyk was arrested and booked at the City Detention Center.  He was charged with Driving While Intoxicated. 

A passenger in the SUV told Officers he didn’t try hard enough to take the keys away from Goralczyk and made a bad decision in letting him drive.  He was taken home by Officers.

Corpus Christi Police Daily Blotter
