Two people were arrested Thursday for stealing mail in the South Shore Estates neighborhood. A post office worker phoned police after a man stopped at a house and took a package delivered by the post office worker. The post office worker watched a blue Chevy Cavalier stop in front of the house, the man got out and took the package, and then the vehicle drove away. The Cavalier was driven by a female and the post office worker provided the license plate number to police.
The Cavalier was stopped by police and several packages were located inside the car. The owners of the packages were contacted and the post office workers suspicion of theft was verified. Thirty year old Adolfo Gutierrez (10-29-1981) and twenty-five year old Ivonne Rodriguez (6-26-1986) were arrested for theft.
Occurred February 24, 2012 Burglary to a residence 7700 Caribou 1202240073
An eighteen year old man was arrested Friday for stealing a rifle from a house on the 7700 block of Caribou. An alert neighbor saw a man at about one o-clock in the afternoon wearing a t-shirt, blue jeans, and black shoes as the man concealed some object underneath his shirt. The neighbor followed the man who concealed an object until the man entered a house on Fox Drive. The neighbor phoned police to report the unusual activity.
Police arrived and discovered a house on Caribou with a broken back door window and no one home. The home owner was called by a neighbor and a rifle was discovered missing from the home on Caribou. Police officers went to the home on Fox Drive where the suspicious man entered while watched by the neighbor. Police met Tyler Moore (12-19-1993) and located the rifle described by the home owner on Caribou. Mr. Moore was arrested for burglary to a habitation.
Occurred February 26, 2012 Criminal Mischief 3100 Baldwin 1202260009
Thirteen vehicles had the tires cut by a knife in the parking lot of a night club on Baldwin resulting in damages that were estimated at over $2,800. Corpus Christi Police were called to the night club for criminal mischief and the witnesses described a single man responsible for the damage. The suspect was described as a Hispanic male that wore a dark sweater, black jeans, and was last seen walking east on Baldwin. One victim of the damage said the suspect had asked for fifty cents and became irritated when the request was refused.

Occurred February 26, 2012 Burglary 9600 Hearn’s Ferry Rd. 1202260048
A 34-year-old man was arrested for stealing from the storage buildings from the Corpus Christi Police shooting range. A Port Police Officer patrolled the area of the Police outdoor range and noticed a wagon that contained power tools that was out of place at the shooting range. The Port Police officer then saw a gray Dodge Charger car drive to the range and quickly leave once the driver of the Charger saw the Port Police Officer. The Port Police Officer stopped the Charger and detained the driver while the Corpus Christi Police responded.
Corpus Christi Police range operators inspected the buildings and discovered there was forced entry to the buildings and that the tools were taken from inside the city buildings. The driver of the Charger, Tommy Rannefeld (8-22-1977), was connected and arrested for the burglary of a building. All the stolen items were recovered and returned to police.

Lt. A. Sanders was in the parking lot of Most Precious Blood when he heard several shots fired from a silver Pontiac Grand Am as it slowly drove by. Officers assisted him in stopping the vehicle at Frederick and SH 286 access.
The driver Mario Omar Rivera (04/02/79) was arrested after a firearm was found underneath the driver’s seat. His passenger Brittany Gail Wheeler (03/03/89) who appeared to be intoxicated was also arrested.
Rivera was charged with Discharging a Firearm in Certain Municipalities and Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon. Wheeler was charged with Public Intoxication.
Occurred 2/24/12 at 4:48 PM 200 Louisiana C1201406
Officers responded to a medical trauma call at a residence in the 200 block of Louisiana on Friday evening at about 4:48 PM. At the home they discovered a 15-month-old male child who had been run over in the driveway of the home.
The incident happened as a 52-year-old man was backing out of the driveway in a 2011 white Dodge Pick-Up. There was a 53-year-old female in the vehicle also.
The child was rushed by ambulance to Driscoll Children’s Hospital where he was pronounced deceased at 5:50 PM.
The tragic incident appears accidental. No charges have been filed and there are no plans to file charges against anyone reference this incident.

Occurred on February 23 06:07 PM 4410 Moravian Aggravated Robbery 1202230109
A 54 year-old man told officers that he was robbed by a knife-wielding woman while he and his roommate enjoyed their chicken dinner. Officers responding to a report of a disturbance at the home discovered Henry Dirk (DOB: 8-22-57) and his 46 year-old roommate sitting at the kitchen table eating fried chicken. Dirk told officers that while he and his roommate were eating dinner, a tall thin auburn haired white woman armed with a knife entered the home through an unlocked door and demanded his money. According to Dirk, the woman removed a small amount of cash from his wallet and fled the home in an unknown direction. Dirk then called police and both he and his roommate resumed dinner. Officers were unable to locate the woman, but did arrest Dirk for an outstanding larceny warrant, $500 bond.

A 34 year-old man told officers that his rental car, wallet and jewelry were stolen from him by a gun-wielding masked man. The victim told officers that he was driving home when he saw a man lying on the roadway on the 3200 block of Crestridge Drive. According to the victim, when he got out to check on the man lying in the street, the suspect jumped to his feet and pointed a handgun at him. The victim told officers that the suspect was dressed completely in black clothing and wearing a black ski mask. The suspect stole his wallet with a small amount of cash, several items of jewelry, and the victim’s rental car, a 2010 Chevy Impala. Minutes later, officers responded to a hit and run accident on the 2800 block of Riggan Street. Officers there discovered that the stolen Impala had struck a 2000 Toyota Camry. The 35 year-old driver of the Camry told officers that she and her two passengers had just gotten into the Camry and were about to pull away from the curb when they were struck almost head-on by the stolen Impala. The driver and her passengers told officers that the driver of the Impala then fled the scene on foot. The only description they could provide was that he was a male. The victim’s wallet was located in the Impala minus the cash. The jewelry was not recovered. A passenger in the Camry complained of minor injuries, and was treated at the scene by medics, but was not transported to the hospital.
Occurred on February 24, 2010 12:21AM Comanche St & Tancahua St Aggravated Assault 1202240004
Officers responding to a reported stabbing found the victim at the corner of Comanche and Tancahua Streets. The 28-year-old man, who had been stabbed in the lower left abdomen, told officers that he and another man, Samuel Flores (DOB: 7/23/1968), had been fighting over a woman. The victim then told officers that Flores stabbed him in the side with a small pocket knife during the fight. The man was taken to Christus Spohn Memorial Hospital by ambulance for treatment of a non-life threatening injury.
A short time later, officers located Flores downtown. Flores was still in possession of the knife. Flores was arrested for aggravated assault and transported the City Detention Center.
Corpus Christi Property Crimes Investigators are asking for help to identify a man who stole money from the Taqueria Jalisco Restaurant on Cimarron on Monday, February 13, 2012.
The cashier for the restaurant was provided an envelope with cash which was placed by the register near the front door to the business. The cashier turned away momentarily and the envelope disappeared. The video camera surveillance system was reviewed and the person that stole the envelope was seen on the video recording. The man who took the envelope is described as a white male with dark hair and wore a black jacket. The man took the envelope that contained the money, concealed the envelope inside his jacket, then he left the business.
