A 21 year old man suffered injury after wrecking the motorcycle he was driving. Witnesses reported that he was traveling on the highway between Weber and Everhart when he attempted to pass traffic in what they believed was an attempt to exit on the Everhart exit.
The motorcyclist lost control of the motorcycle, flipping it across the median between the highway and onto the access road, where both he and the motorcycle came to rest.
The man was transported to Spohn Memorial Hospital with serious injuries.

Officers contacted the 22-year-old victim who reported he was stopped at the intersection of Andover Drive and McArdle Road when a male ordered him out of his red 2006 Ford Mustang. He complied as the suspect fired his weapon missing him.
The victim told Officers a struggle ensued in which the suspect shot him in the shoulder. He was able to jump back into his vehicle and drive to the Gulfway Shopping Center where police were called. He was taken to Spohn Memorial for medical treatment.
The suspect is described as a thin White male, 5’10” feet tall, with pierced ears. He was last seen wearing a black shirt and blue jeans.

A 48-year-old victim told Officers he was approached by a couple of Black males in a gold Pontiac Grand Prix who offered to sell him drugs. The victim refused the offer and walked into the Shell station. The males drove away and waited for the victim at Brownlee and Winnebago.
A passenger in the vehicle jumped out and assaulted him with a tire iron. The victim was struck in the face and robbed of his money. The suspect hopped into the vehicle and fled on Leopard towards Nueces Bay.
The suspect is described as a skinny Black male wearing a blue tee-shirt and blue jeans.
The getaway driver was described as a 20-year-old Black male, wearing a red and black jacket with dark-colored pants.
While conducting their investigation, the suspect returned to the area and pulled over by Officers. Gernorris Dixon (03/11/89) was positively identified as the getaway driver and arrested.
Dixon was charged with Robbery. The victim was treated by CCFD Emergency Personnel at the scene and released.
Occurred on 1/16/12, 5:30 p.m. Burglary of a Vehicle 2121 Leopard 1201160135
An Officer responding to several complaints contacted a homeless person panhandling at Port and Leopard. Jason Schmidt (12/23/72) was observed leaving the pawn shop as he approached the Officer. Schmidt asked the Officer for a ride to city hall, but his request was denied.
The Officer parked across the street as he watched Schmidt walk back to the pawn shop. Once in the pawn shop parking lot Schmidt reached into a truck window and removed a couple of items.
The suspect was found to be in possession of a radar detector and phone charger. He was arrested and given a ride to jail. Schmidt was charged with Burglary of a Vehicle.

Officers checking the businesses at Pharaoh Plaza found the glass door to Employees Finance Loans smashed. Officers secured the business and contacted the manager who reported there was nothing taken. The repairs are estimated at $400.

Officers arrived to find the Noble Finance Corporation front glass door shattered. Witnesses reported hearing banging and the glass shattering and looked out to see a male walking out of Noble Finance carrying something. The suspect fled in a waiting vehicle described as a newer model station wagon.
The suspect is described as a male, 5’6” to 5’7” feet tall, and weighing, 150 to 160 lbs. He was last seen wearing a dark hoodie. A description of the getaway driver is unavailable at this time.
A Noble Finance Corporation employee arrived to secure the building.

Lieutenant Phillip Bintliff was promoted from the rank of Senior Officer today by Interim Chief Richard Badaracco. The ceremony was attended by many friends and co-workers, as well as Law Enforcement from other agencies. All were in attendance with praise, well wishes, and congratulations for the newest Lieutenant in the Corpus Christi Police Department.
Lt. Bintliff joined the Corpus Christi Police Department in January 2000. In 2003 he earned the designation of Senior Officer. Since 2003, Lt. Bintliff has had a very noteworthy career.
Lt. Bintliff was awarded The Police Medal of Valor along with The Police Shield resulting from his actions during an armed confrontation that took place in 2003. During the confrontation, Lt. Bintliff was shot in the torso and his bullet resistant vest stopped the bullet. The Police Medal of Valor is awarded to an Officer demonstrating exceptional bravery while facing the imminent risk of serious bodily injury. The Police Shield is awarded to an Officer who is seriously injured in the line of duty due to an assault.
Lt. Bintliff was the Corpus Christi Police Department’s first Officer of the Year for his outstanding work in the Department’s Patrol Division In 2009. The Officer of the Year is issued in recognition of exceptional police work, consistently displaying professionalism, and outstanding community service. Highlighting all of these items, Lt. Bintliff went in the water three separate times to help rescue people in dangerous situations during the year. During one of these water rescues, he performed CPR on a woman to help her regain her pulse. That same year on patrol, Lt. Bintliff made many significant arrests including a traffic stop of a stolen car. When the car stopped, the driver ran, but Lt. Bintliff caught him. The driver had not only stolen the car he was driving, but had also committed a number of car burglaries. These were solved due to Lt. Bintliff’s quick feet.
Lt. Bintliff was giving the Lifesaving Ribbon in 2009 for his lifesaving techniques noted above and again in 2010 more meritorious lifesaving actions. The Lifesaving Ribbon is awarded to an Officer directly responsible for the saving of human life.
In addition to Lt. Bintliff’s remarkable career and on-the-job training, he has educated himself in the field of Criminal Justice, earning an Associate’s Degree from Del Mar College, a Bachelor’s Degree from Texas A&M University Corpus Christi, and most recently a Master’s Degree from Sul Ross University in 2009.
Lt. Bintliff is a welcomed addition to the supervisory rank at the Corpus Christi Police Department.

Officers responded to the La Palmera Mall where they contacted the owner of a Jewelry kiosk. The booth had been burglarized, and over $25,000 worth of jewelry was reported taken. The suspect, described as a 40 to 50-year-old male, was seen leaving the mall in what appeared to be a Ford Expedition.
