Felon Flees From Police Into Waiting Wife’s Arms

Officer J. Vela persisting in his search for wanted subjects spotted Joe Damien Magallan (07/05/87) as he left his   residence in a Kia SUV.  Officer Vela followed Magallan and attempted to pull him over at SH 286 at the Gollihar exit.  Magallan refused to stop and made a U-turn back onto north bound SH 286.  The suspect travelled onto SH 358 and exited on Kostoryz Road. 

At 5400 Buggywhipp Court, Magallan struck a Nueces County Sheriff’s Department vehicle that was assisting in the pursuit.  Magallan attempted to drive around the police vehicle and struck the vehicle on it right side.  He continued on to his residence at 5409 Buggywhip where he bailed out of the vehicle running towards his wife who was waiting on the front lawn. 

Magallan was observed to throw a handgun onto the ground as he was being hugged by his wife.  Officers arrested Magallan and found to be in possession of several more firearms which were found in his vehicle.   Magallan was charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, Evading Arrest Detention with a Vehicle, and two outstanding Nueces County warrants for Felony Endangerment of a Child and Felony Criminal Mischief. 

The KIA was impounded.

Thief Arrested When Found Hiding Under Home

Occurred on 9/29/11, 5:29 p.m  Theft & Evading Arrest   702 N. Chaparral     1109290104

Officers responded to the Greyhound Bus Station and contacted employees who reported a Black male had stolen money from the cash register.  An employee told Officers he stepped away from the counter area when he heard the cash register close.  The male fled from the business. 

While en route, an Officer observed the suspect running across I.H. 37 from the downtown area.   An attempt was made to contact the male, but he refused to stop for the Officer and fled toward the Solomon Coles Education Building. 

The Officer chased the male until he was apprehended in the 900 block of Waco where he was found hiding underneath a residence.  Maury Eugene Robinson (04/14/83) was ordered out from underneath the home. 

Robinson crawled out, but Officers observed him removing the stolen money from short pocket and leaving it behind.  Officers recovered the money and transported Robinson to the bus station where he was positively identified and arrested.

Robinson was charged with Theft and Evading Arrest Detention.  The money was returned to Greyhound Bus Station employees.

Juvenile Son Assaults Mother When She Doesn’t Permit Him to See Girlfriend

Officers responded to the Cactus Motel parking lot for a family violence assault call in which a 14-year-old was assaulting his mother.  Officers arrived to find the juvenile still yelling at his mother. 

The 32-year-old mother reported to Officers she forbade her son to go see his girlfriend and he became angry, cursing and yelling at her.  The victim attempted to get her son in their vehicle when he began swinging at her.  The 14-year-old then grabbed his mother, threw her on the ground and began punching her in the face. 

Officers detained the juvenile and transported him to the Nueces County Juvenile Justice Center.  He was charged with Assault Family Violence. 

His mother sustained minor injuries to the face.

Crockett Elementary Vandalized

Officers responded to Crockett Elementary for graffiti in progress call. CCISD maintenance personnel reported observing several juveniles on the roof of a portable building.

The juveniles left the area, but shortly thereafter he found two of the school’s portable buildings had been vandalized and several gallon bottles of soap were left behind.

Motorcyclist Arrested After Striking Parked Vehicle

Officers responded to a major accident involving a motorcycle.  Upon their arrival, Officers found Richard Vollick (11/05/55) being treated by CCFD Emergency Personnel. 

Vollick appeared intoxicated and he was not issued Standard Field Sobriety Test, but a Blood Draw was taken.  Further investigation revealed Vollick had lost control of his black 2010 Harley-Davidson and struck a parked blue 2006 Mitsubishi Raider. 

Vollick was medically cleared and arrested.  He was charged with Driving While Intoxicated 3rd or More and cited for Failure to Maintain a Single Lane.  Vollick was also charged with an outstanding Aransas County warrant for Driving While Intociated 3rd or More.  His bond was set at $5,000 for the warrant and $5,000 for the  DWI.

Sex Offender Sentenced to Over 50 years for Failure to Register as a Sex Offender

The Corpus Christi Police Department Sex Offender Unit investigated allegations that sex offender Mickey Boswell (07/10/62) had failed to register every 90 days as required by state law. Boswell failed to return to the police department to update his registration.

Boswell was found guilty of failing to register as a sex offender and sentenced to 50 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice for a Motion to Revoke for Theft (Enhanced), a 20 year sentence for Failure to Register as Sex Offender in addition to four 20 year sentences each on the remaining four charges.

The Sex Offender Unit routinely monitors sex offenders to ensure that they are in compliance with their registration.

Ex-Boyfriend Arrested After Visitation Dispute

Occurred on 9/28/11, 2:00 p.m.   Assault   3701 Cimarron Blvd.   1109280082 

Officers contacted the 16-year-old victim who reported she was assaulted by her ex-boyfriend Alfonso Martin-DelCampo (05/27/92) when he stopped by her residence unexpectedly to pick up his children and his personal property. 

 An argument ensued in which DelCampo grabbed the victim and punched her in the abdomen.  The victim sustained minor injuries. 

DelCampo was arrested and charged with Assault by Contact.

The Corpus Christi Police Department Property Crimes Detectives are seeking the public’s assistance to identify the suspect involved in a theft.

Wal-Mart Asset Protection Coordinator reported a black Female purchased several items and in the process stole $300 from the register.  The theft was not discovered until the nightly audit was complete and the shortage was discovered.

The suspect is described as a heavyset Black female, 5’6″ to 5’7″ feet tall and weighing 230 to 240 lbs.   She was last seen wearing lime green fitted shirt and dark-colored leggings.  She was accompanied by a Black male wearing a white t-shirt and black shorts.

Grandson Uninvited Visit to Grandma’s House Lands Him in Jail

Officers responding to a burglary in progress contacted the witness who reported he observed a Hispanic male standing outside of his elderly neighbor’s house. He stopped and questioned the male who told him he was waiting for his friend who was inside the residence.

Further investigation revealed Javier Lopez Jr. (02/06/70) was burglarizing his 82-year-old grandmother’s house with his friend acting as the lookout. Officers checked the residence and chased Lopez, who fled out a window.

Officers found Lopez in the 700 block of Francesca where he gained entry to hide from police. The 35-year-old homeowner told Officers the suspect ran into her home and told her to be quiet. The Officers found Lopez hiding in a bedroom acting as if he was asleep. Lopez was arrested when he was positively identified by the victim and the witness.

Lopez was charged with two counts of Burglary of a Residence along with an outstanding Parole Violation warrant. He was additionally charged with Failure to Identify as a Fugitive from Justice when he lied to Officers about his name. Neither the homeowner nor her two sons were injured during the burglary.

Suspected Forger Arrested

Officer J. Vela continues his quest in locating and arresting wanted subjects.   His dogged pursuit has led him to yet another lawbreaker. 

Officer Vela was able to locate and arrest Samantha Rae Woods-Jaramillo (04/08/91) at her new place of employment. 

Woods-Jaramillo was charged with an outstanding Nueces County warrant for two counts of Forgery of a Financial Instrument.  Her bond was set at $5000.
