If you are going out to the beach and plan on swimming be sure to never swim alone and if possible, swim where there is a lifeguard on duty.

If you are caught in a rip current don’t fight the current but rather swim parallel to the beach until you are free from the current. If you can’t escape, float or tread water then swim parallel to the shore and then back to the beach. If you need help, call or wave for assistance.
