At approximately 5:57 PM on Thursday, April 7, 2022, officers were dispatched to the 1400 block of Maryland reference a shooting.  Upon arrival, officers located a 37-year-old male shooting victim.   The male was later pronounced deceased.  

During the investigation, officers quickly identified two suspects.  On April 8, 2022, Homicide Detectives secured two Murder Warrants for 41-year-old Deontaye Carter and 44-year-old Alonzo Jackson. 

Investigators and officers have worked diligently to locate these two offenders.  Earlier today, officers were able to track down the whereabouts of Deontaye Carter.  At approximately 4:48 pm, officers with the US Gulf Coast Violent Offender Fugitive Task Force, with assistance from CCPD SWAT Officers and Patrol Officers took the offender into custody on the 6900 block of Everhart, without incident.  Deontaye Carter was transported to the main police station for questioning and has since been transported to the City Detention Center for processing at approximately 7:30 pm.  Carter was booked on the outstanding warrant for Murder ($1,000,000 bond). 

The second suspect, Alonzo Jackson, is still outstanding.  Jackson is described as a black male, who stands approximately 5’03” and weighs approximately 190 pounds.  Jackson has an active warrant for Murder ($1,000,000 bond.)

On Monday April 11, 2022, at 7:45 am officers were dispatched to the 3700 block of South Port in reference to a shooting.

When the officers arrived, they found a 46-year-old victim in the apartment with a gunshot wound and immediately began CPR until Corpus Christi Fire Department paramedics arrived. The victim was transported by CCFD to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Detectives with the Criminal Investigation Division Robbery Homicide Section responded and quickly began to investigate. During the investigation the detectives were able to identify the offender as 30-year-old Manuel Fernandez III. The detectives were able to secure a warrant of arrest for Capital Murder with a $950,000.00 Bond.

On Tuesday April 12, 2022, at 11:51 am officers were dispatched to the 3700 block of Port in reference to a disturbance between a male and a female. When the officers arrived, they contacted Manuel Fernandez III and placed him into custody for the outstanding warrant of arrest.

Manuel Fernandez was transported to the City Detention Center for booking on the charge of Capital Murder.

Nueces County Sheriff’s Office is asking for your help to locate Roland Gonzalez who has an outstanding warrant for Motion to Revoke – Assault Family Violence (No Bond). 

Gonzalez is described as a 23-year-old male, who stands 5’06” feet, weighs approximately 135 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.

Corpus Christi Police Department Investigators need your help to identify four suspects in connection to an Aggravated Robbery.

At approximately 4:29 pm on March 28, 2022, Officers were dispatched to robbery just occurred at a pawn shop located on the 1600 block of SPID.

While in the commission of the Robbery, the males displayed weapons while demanding items from the employees.  The suspects were able to get away with an undisclosed amount of property in the robbery.  We are actively seeking help from the public to identify these four armed suspects pictured below.

27-year-old Anthony Whetstone, who was arrested in the city’s latest homicide, has been processed and booked in at the City’s Detention Center.

Whetstone was arrested on a charge of Murder and is being held on a $500,000 bond.

At approximately 5:35 am on Monday, March 28, 2022 officers were dispatched to the 7500 block of S Staples reference a shooting.  Upon arrival, officers located an adult male on scene who was not responsive, he was later pronounced deceased.  

During the preliminary investigation, homicide investigators learned that a verbal disturbance between two patrons of the store escalated to a shooting.  While the shooting occurred inside of the store, no other injuries were reported.  The suspect fled the scene in a vehicle prior to officers arriving.  

Investigators and officers have worked diligently to identify and locate this offender.  At approximately 12:45 pm, officers were able to locate the whereabouts of the offender.  Officers effected a traffic stop on the 4800 block of S Padre Island Drive and were able to take him into custody without incident.  The identity of the offender will be released after he is processed.

Corpus Christi Police Detectives want your help to identify a pair who caused damage to a nature preserve.

Two unidentified males caused damage to the facility. Employees located several pieces of flagstone broken throughout the area, several windows shattered, and parts of the playground area to be damaged. It is estimated that the suspects caused several thousands of dollars’ worth of damage and needed repairs to the preserve.

Detectives with the Corpus Christi Police Department’s Narcotics and Vice Investigations Division served a search warrant Wednesday evening at a game room on the 4800 block of South Alameda Street, culminating with the arrests of three men and a woman on illegal gambling charges.   Responding to a tip of illegal gambling taking place inside the Sweetwater Club, 4855 S. Alameda Street Suite 109, Detectives initiated an investigation which ultimately established probable cause to obtain a search warrant for the premises from the 319^th District Court. As a result of the search, officers arrested 21-year-old Madysin Kirkpatrick-Tazby, 26-year-old Eden Pena, 35-year-old Even Pena, and 34-year-old Luis Sandoval. All four were charged with Gambling Promotion, Keeping a Gambling Place, and Possession of a Gambling Device.  All three charges are class A misdemeanors under Texas law, punishable by up to a year in prison and/or a $4,000 fine.  The three men were additionally charged with Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon after officers discovered they were all armed with handguns during the commission of another crime.  Fourteen patrons of the game room were issued warning citations for gambling and released at the scene.  During the search, Detectives seized gambling equipment, two vehicles, cash, and other evidence of illegal gambling.

NVID Detectives were assisted in the operation by officers with the CCPD Operations Division and the Organized Crime Unit, as well prosecutors with the Nueces County District Attorney’s Office, and investigators with the State of Texas Comptroller’s Office, which regulates coin operated machines.

The Corpus Christi Police Department continues to collaborate with our local state and federal partners to investigate and combat illegal gambling. Investigators will continue to enforce all Texas gambling laws, which will help accomplish our mission to reduce crime, reduce the fear of crime and to improve the quality of life in our community.
