AGGRAVATED ROBBERY SUSPECTS ARRESTED

Two offenders have been arrested in connection with an aggravated robbery.

At approximately 5:15 am Thursday, July 1, 2021, two suspects committed an aggravated of a person on the 6500 block of Staples.  The victim was opening a local business when she observed two individuals on the property taking items without consent.  Initially the suspects complied and appeared to leave the property.  Shortly after the victim exited her vehicle, one of the individuals ran around the building and began striking the victim with a metal object, causing numerous injuries. 

Officers received several tips and one Crime Stoppers Tip led to the identification and whereabouts of the two offenders. 

At approximately 10:53 am on today’s date, officers arrived at the location provided by the tipster and made contact with 53-year-old Jeffrey Moore and 63-year-old Donald Straub.  Both suspects were brought to the station to be interviewed by Investigators, they were positively identified, and were subsequently taken into custody.  Both suspects were charged with Aggravated Robbery and Aggravated Assault.

The first suspect was described as a white male, approximately 55-65 years of age, with gray hair, wearing purple t-shirt and blue jeans.   The second suspect was described as possibly female, approximately 40-50 years of age, wearing black and white t-shirt, blue jean shorts and black shoes.

Detectives obtained a copy of surveillance video.  A few still images of the suspects are being released along with a portion of the incident.

Homicide on 07-03-21

On Saturday July 3, 2021 at 2:24 am Officers were dispatched to 3100 Magnolia about a shooting. When the officers arrived, they found a 36-year-old adult male in the driveway with life threating in juries.  The officers attempted to provide life saving measures, but the male passed at the scene.

Detectives with the Robbery / Homicide responded to the scene and determined that this was an argument between acquaintances that escalated to a shooting.

Two offenders were also injured during the shooting and they fled the scene in a vehicle to a local hospital. One of the offenders, a 24-year-old male, was dropped off to receive treatment while 35-year-old Raul Salazar travelled to Cole Park where he was contacted by patrol officers. Raul Salazar was subsequently placed into custody for murder and the other offender is currently in the hospital in stable condition.

All parties in this homicide have been contacted and there are no one outstanding at this time.

Two Corpus Christi Police Officers have been placed on paid administrative leave, which is in accordance with current department practice and policy.

Senior Officer Brandon Cordell has been a police officer with the Corpus Christi Police Department for 13 years.

Senior Officer Paul Lisowski has been a police officer with the Corpus Christi Police Department for 26 years.

AUTO THEFT SUSPECT ARRESTED

On Wednesday, June 30, 2021, a traffic stop was made near Lantana Drive and Academy Street.  The male provided a false identity to officers.  Investigators were eventually able to identify the male from a previous contact, as 38-year-old William Womack. 

While checking for warrants, Womack was found to have two outstanding warrants out of San Patricio County; both warrants were for Burglary to a Vehicle. 

Womack was charged with: Fail to identify as a fugitive, Fail to display driver’s license, Fail to maintain financial responsibility, Expired license plate and Disregard a traffic control device.

Detectives with the Corpus Christi Police Department Auto Theft Task Force were conducting an independent investigation and connected William Womack to a recent theft of a vehicle.  Detectives obtained an additional warrant for Womack, he was subsequently booked on a charge for Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle.   

NUECES COUNTY WANTED SUBJECT

Nueces County Sheriff’s Office is asking for your help to locate Nathaniel Lomas who has an outstanding warrant for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon ($50,000 Bond).

Lomas is described as an 18-year-old male, who stands 5’07” feet, weighs approximately 145 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.

“Choose Your Ride” DWI Awareness Campaign

Interim Chief of Police David Blackmon along with Mayor Paulette Guajardo unveiled a half police vehicle and half taxicab as part of the “Choose Your Ride” campaign.  

This vehicle will be used as a static display to remind our community of the consequences of driving while intoxicated.

The Corpus Christi Police Department reminds our community that there are alternatives to drinking and driving. We encourage the use of a designated driver, taxicab, or rideshare so that you may arrive home safely.
