Corpus Christi Police Property Crimes Detectives would like help from the public to identify and locate the person responsible for a theft at 9850 Leopard Street on June 5, 2014. A 59-year-old woman reported the theft to Corpus Christi Police at 4:52pm and explained to the Officers that an unknown woman came into the store, loaded a cart full of merchandise, and left the store without paying for the merchandise. Detectives have obtained images of the suspect and would now like help from the public to identify the person responsible for the theft.

The 59-year-old woman described the suspect as a 40-year-old woman who stands about 5 feet 2 inches tall, weighs about 250 pounds, and wore sunglasses, a pink shirt, and black pants. Man Accuses Group of People Stealing Wine and Candy from Store

Corpus Christi Police Property Crimes Detectives would like help from the public to identify and locate five people responsible for theft from a convenience store located at 9602 South Padre Island Drive on May 29, 2014. A 27-year-old man reported the theft to the Corpus Christi Police and provided a video of five people who came into the store and stole wine and candy bars.

The 27-year-old man described the suspects as one woman with blonde hair and four men with dark hair. The 27-year-old man told Officers one of the men wore black shorts with a blue panel on the sides, a maroon shirt with white lettering and black slip on sandals with black socks. The 27-year-old man told Officers a second male suspect wore a gray shirt, khaki shorts and a black and white cap worn backwards. The 27-year-old man said the third male suspect wore a black shirt with a pink CB on the front with khaki shorts and black tennis shoes. The 27-year-old man told Officers the fourth male suspect wore a black tank top shirt with a Batman logo, khaki shorts and black tennis shoes. A video of the man in the Batman shirt has been posted which recorded the man take a bottle of wine from the store display, conceal the bottle underneath his clothing, and then walk out of the store without paying for the merchandise. CCPD Looks For Purse Snatcher

The Corpus Christi Police Department Property Crimes Detectives are looking into three separate theft cases that involve purses being stolen over the past few days at the HEB Store located at 3133 South Alameda St. The reports show that female victims have placed their purses in the shopping cart and when they were looking at groceries, or distracted for a moment, the purse is taken. In one of the cases the offender was followed out of the store by an employee. The suspect ran west on Reid Drive behind the store, and then north on Hoffman Street where he ran through a backyard and jumped the fence. The suspect then was seen crossing S. Alameda St. and he ran onto the property of Incarnate Word Academy. The suspect is described as being between the ages of 18 and 24, standing 5’8 to 6’0’ tall, weighing 165 to 185 pounds with black hair. Images from cameras at the store show the suspects in these cases either walking into the store or walking out. CCPD Looking To Identify Man Who Stole A Safe

OFFENSE: Burglary of a Building (PC 30.02 State Jail Felony)

Corpus Christi Police Officers responded to a burglary of a building at the Wing Stop Restaurant located in the Five Points Shopping Center. Officers found the front glass door of the business broken out and a rear door to be standing wide open. Suspects left the business with a safe containing money. Video cameras show a dark colored vehicle pulling up to the front of the building, a passenger exits and smashes out the front door. The suspect and jumps the counter and goes directly to the safe which he removes and takes to the rear of the building. He exits out the rear jumps back in the vehicle and leaves the scene. The suspect appears to be around 5`8″- 5`10″ 180-200 LBS with dark hair. The suspect vehicle appears to be an older model dark four door. Corpus Christi Police Officers responded to a business located in the 5800 block of South Padre Island Drive for a male exposing himself in the food court area of the business. Robert Baker (08/02/1962) was being detained by security officers when the police arrived. A 50 year old female had employees from a business call police and building security after he exposed himself in front of her and her 7 year old daughter while they ate in the food court area. Building security acted quickly, and detained the suspect after he began to try and leave. Officers arrived and arrested the suspect, and charged him with indecency with a child, a third degree felony, because he exposed himself knowing a child was present and was reckless about whether another person was present who would be alarmed or offended by his act. He was also charged with indecent exposure, a Class B misdemeanor for exposing himself to the adult female.

Employees at a business in the 6800 block of S. Padre Island Drive called police when a male passed out in a vehicle in the drive thru lane of the business. Officers arrived and observed a gray 2010 Dodge Charger in the drive thru at the order station. There were two other vehicles stopped behind the vehicle. Officers observed a male subject in the driver’s seat to be sleeping with the engine running. After knocking several times on the window, because the doors were locked, the man woke up and rolled down the window. Officers identified the male as Aral Mason (04/19/1985) and found him to be intoxicated and he was arrested. The suspect was additionally charged with Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon, a Class A Misdemeanor after a loaded handgun was found in his vehicle.

A 53 year old female was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated after she hit another vehicle from behind. Jamie Duncan (09/28/1960) was driving her 2013 Ford truck east along the access road of 5400 S. Padre Island Dr. when she failed to control her speed and struck a 2002 Nissan Xterra that was stopped for a red light at the intersection of S.P.I.D. East and S. Staples St. The male and female in the vehicle that was struck from behind were not injured in the crash, but the vehicle they were in had to be towed away because of the damage. The suspect’s vehicle was impounded by police, and the female suspect was arrest for Driving While Intoxicated, a Class B Misdemeanor.

Officers were called out to the area of Elizabeth St. and Brownlee Blvd. to check the welfare of a female that was acting unusual. They located the female, Johna Rink (03/30/1988), who was crying and upset. After a few minutes, officers calmed her down and she told them that she was looking for her boyfriend. While talking to the female officers learned that her 4 month old daughter was alone in an apartment in the 1500 block of Fifteenth St. When officers arrived at the upstairs apartment to check the child’s welfare, they opened the door and they could feel the heat coming from inside and could hear a small child crying. Officers found the infant alone, sweating, wearing only a diaper, and left on a king size bed. Upon further investigation, it was found that the father had been gone most of the night, only returning when officers were doing their investigation. It was determined that the child had been left alone by the mother since early morning. The apartment was in disarray, with no food, and dirty and there was evidence of drug use in the apartment. Child Protective Services responded to the scene and the child was removed for her safety. The female suspect was also found to have in her possession four pills which require a prescription. She was arrested for abandoning a child with intent to return, a state jail felony, and possession of dangerous drug, a Class A Misdemeanor.

A 38 year old male store clerk called police after he was robbed by a male subject wearing a black hoodie jacket over his head, black shorts, black gloves and a blue bandanna covering his face. The suspect held up his hand with a towel wrapped around it giving the impression he had a weapon when he demanded money. The clerk gave the suspect money from the cash register and the suspect fled the store. The suspect was further described as being 5’5 to 5’8 in height, 120 to 140 pounds.

Police Warn Public: Don’t Leave Firearms Unattended in Vehicles

The Corpus Christi Police Department has received 74 reports of firearms stolen from unattended vehicles so far in 2014. The Corpus Christi Police Auto Theft Task Force investigates the reports for burglary to vehicles and noticed 74 stolen firearms as of May 31, 2014. Corpus Christi Police Lieutenant Chris White, the supervisor of the Corpus Christi Police Auto Theft Task Force, said only three firearms have been recovered of those 74 stolen firearms.

The Corpus Christi Police Department recommends that owners not leave the firearms unattended in vehicles, but store the firearms in a locked safe inside a building.

The Corpus Christi Police Auto Theft Task Force reported the following data for 2014:

January – 6 firearms reported stolen from vehicles;

February – 7 firearms reported stolen from vehicles;

Mach – 18 firearms reported stolen from vehicles;

April – 24 firearms reported stolen from vehicles;

May – 19 firearms reported stolen from vehicles.

Offense: False Report To Police Officer (PC 37.08 Class B Misdemeanor)

Corpus Christi Police Officers responded to the 3100 block of Greenwood Dr. for a hit and run crash. Officers found that a white Chevrolet Malibu had struck another vehicle from behind. There were no injuries in the crash, and the vehicle was left there, but the driver had fled on foot. A short time later, Shirley Noyola (08/25/1986) called police stating that someone had stolen her vehicle from her home in the 2200 block of Ruth Street. Officers made contact with her at her home, and she stated that someone had burglarized her house and stole her purse containing the keys to her car. She signed a stolen vehicle affidavit.

Upon checking officers found that she had an active arrest warrant. The officers arrested the suspect for the outstanding warrant, and allowed her to call her mother to come pick up her children. When the suspect’s mother arrived she told police that the vehicle wasn’t stolen and that her daughter had told her that she had been involved in a crash and wanted her to drive by to look at the damage. The suspect’s boyfriend also told officers that there was no burglary to the suspect’s home, and that a female by the name of Sara was driving the car when it was crashed on Greenwood Dr. The female suspect was arrested for the outstanding arrest warrant and was also charged with making a false report to police, a Class B Misdemeanor.

Corpus Christi Police Officers responded to a home in the 4700 block of Dody Street for a burglary in progress. When officers arrived they saw two males and one female leaving the back of the residence. When the officers ordered them to stop all three fled on foot. The officers gave chase and were able to stop the 15 year old juvenile female and one adult male, Isaiah Cheatham (04/16/1996). The second male was able to elude the officers.

The officers determined that the house is vacant and the suspects never went inside. The juvenile female was transported to the Nueces County Juvenile Justice Center and faces charges of Evading Arrest, a Class A Misdemeanor. The male suspect was found to be in possession of marijuana, a Class B Misdemeanor and was also charged with Evading Arrest.

A 19 year old female victim reported to officers that she was struck by a car that was driven by her 20 year old ex-boyfriend in the parking lot of an apartment complex in the 4600 block of Kostoryz Road. Officers contacted the victim who told them that the two were having a verbal argument when the male took her cell phone out of her hands and got into his silver Pontiac Grand Am. The victim said she went to the passenger side of the car, got partially inside the car and attempted to get her phone back. When she got partially inside, the male put the car into drive and started to drive away. The victim was dragged for a short time before she was able to get away from the car. The male fled the scene before officers arrived. The female victim was transported to the hospital by CCFD EMS to be treated for her injuries.

Officers went to a home in the 500 block of Virginia Avenue in an attempt to contact a wanted person. Officers knocked on the front door and could hear movement in the house but no one answered the door. The officers then saw a male subject climb out of a window, from the back side of the house onto the roof. The male jumped from the roof of the house to the ground and then ran two blocks before being caught and taken into custody. The male subject was identified as Armando Deleon (11/08/1987). He had an outstanding arrest warrant, and was also charged with evading arrest, a Class A Misdemeanor.

A 33 year old male victim walked into Spohn Shoreline Hospital Emergency Room with head injuries. He told officers that he was in the 700 block of North Chaparral Street when he was hit in the head with a beer bottle by a male. Officers located a crime scene in the street but no one in the area had any idea or knowledge about the assault. The victim stated he didn’t know the offender.

CCPD Seeks Man With Two Warrants

Corpus Christi Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in helping them locate a wanted person. Mario Ernesto Trevino (04/06/1993) is wanted on two separate arrest warrants. One warrant is for a Failure To Appear on a Possession of Marijuana warrant, and the second is a Failure To Appear on a Criminal Mischief warrant. He is 5’7 and 195 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. His bond is set at $10,000 for both warrants.

Pursuit Ends In CCPD Parking Lot

Corpus Christi Police Officers assisted outside agency law enforcement with a vehicle pursuit that ended in the police department parking lot at 321 John Sartain. Rockport Police contacted a 50 year old male in their city for a disturbance. The suspect fled in a black two door vehicle into Portland, and across the Nueces Bay Causeway and the Harbor Bridge into downtown Corpus Christi. The suspect turned onto Shoreline Blvd. and then turned onto Water Street. The vehicle stopped in the back police department parking lot near the employee entrance of the police station. The 50 year old male was quickly taken into custody by officers. CCFD EMS responded and the suspect was checked by medics before being taken back to Rockport.
