An 8-year-old boy was left at a restaurant by his family Sunday night for at least 30 minutes before the parents returned to gather the child.

Restaurant employees called the Corpus Christi Police because there was an 8-year-old boy who was unattended in the business. Police officers were told the 8-year-old went to the bathroom and the large group had left without the child before the child returned to the table.

Employees and police officers were unable to contact the parents of the child for 30 minutes. The family of the child then arrived at the restaurant and gathered the child. The parents said the mistake happened because a family member became ill and the family had to leave the restaurant in a rush.

Police officers generated a written report for further investigation and no criminal charges have been filed.
