You Can’t Out Run the Law

Officers were called to 1504 Sam Rankin for a man on bicycle who fired several rounds in the area.  Arriving Officers attempted to contact Richard Roberts (11/03/91) who matched the description of the shooter at Sam Rankin and Chipito Street.  Roberts dumped his bicycle and took off running towards Northside Manor.

The chase was on with all three running at a full sprint.  Roberts dumped his backpack on the second floor of the apartment complex.  The Officers lost sight of Roberts as he turned the corner and began searching for Roberts.  They found him hiding on the third floor of the apartment building and placed him in police custody.  A pistol was found inside Roberts’ backpack which matched bullets found on his person.

Roberts was charged with Evading Arrest, Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon, Tampering with Evidence with Intent to Impair, and an outstanding Municipal Court warrant in the amount of $254.  He was additionally charged with Failure to Identify as a Fugitive from Justice when he refused to identify himself.
