Police were dispatched to an accident involving a pedestrian in the eastbound lane of the 4300 block of SH 358.  Officers arrived to find a witness to the accident performing CPR on the man and took over until CCFD Emergency Personnel arrived.  The 23-year-old man was rushed to Spohn Memorial with life-threatening injuries.

Further investigation revealed that the victim had been driving a gray Jeep when it became stuck in a small ditch by the parking lot west of Embassy Suites.  A wrecker driver stopped by to assist when the hit and run victim began to assault the wrecker driver’s passenger; knocking him to the ground.  After the assault, the victim ran across the highway where he was stuck.  The vehicle fled; not making any attempt to stop.

On Monday morning, Traffic Safety Division Officers released a description of the hit and run vehicle.   The impact caused the driver’s side mirror to be broken off and remain behind at the accident  scene.  The suspect vehicle is believed to be a 2002-2007 dark-colored Jeep Liberty with damage to the driver’s side.
