The Corpus Christi Police Department responded to 914 calls for service and generated 207 reports for formal criminal complaints from 7:00 a.m. July 28 to 7:00 a.m. on July 29, 2015. These are samples of the criminal complaints filed by the Corpus Christi Police for that time period.

Offense: Aggravated Assault
P.C. 22.02       First Degree Felony

Corpus Christi Police responded to a call with an open line to 911 and no one speaking. In the background, dispatchers could hear the sounds of things breaking, and people yelling at each other.

Officers arrived to find a 29 year old male victim with a stab wound to the back of his neck and slash marks on his head. Inside the home, located in the 9100 block of Caroline Road, they found evidence of a struggle and the victim’s 35 year old wife.

Both the male and female gave Officers conflicting accounts into what had occurred.

The male was transported to Spohn Memorial Medical Center to be treated for his injuries.

Due to the conflicting accounts into what had occurred and the male victim’s refusal to cooperate with the investigation, no arrests were made.

The male victim’s injuries do not appear to be life threatening, and the female was not injured.

Offense: Aggravated Robbery

A male and a female were sitting on a bench at Lincoln Park  when they were robbed.

The two 18 year old victims told Officers that they were sitting in the park, located in the 4600 block of Marie Street,  when a male approached them holding a gun in his right hand and a knife in his left hand. The suspect demanded that the two empty their pockets.

Neither victim had any money, but the suspect did steal the male’s cell phone.

The suspect, described as being 5’7” and 200 pounds, then left the park on foot.

Officers continue to investigate this crime, and at this time, no suspects have been arrested.

Offense: Driving While Intoxicated

Corpus Christi Police responded to a crash in the 4700 block of Nesbitt Drive after a suspected drunk driver struck a parked car.

The crash investigation revealed that the driver of a 2001 Nissan Frontier was traveling south on Nesbitt Drive when it struck a parked 2006 Chevrolet Equinox. After striking the vehicle, the Nissan flipped onto its passenger side.

After an investigation, the driver of the Nissan, Randy Villarreal (07/19/1966), was determined to be intoxicated. He was arrested for driving while intoxicated after being treated at Spohn Shoreline Hospital for minor injuries he sustained in the crash.

Corpus Christi Police were called to the Kohls Department Store, located at 5626 Saratoga Boulevard, after store employees witnessed a female leave without paying for over $1000 worth of merchandise.

Officers arrived at the store and were told that a female had entered the store and made a purchase, and then continued to shop using the bag she received to conceal merchandise.

Employees observed the female removing sales labels and putting other items such as clothing, jewelry, and sunglasses in the bag. When the female attempted to leave without paying, she was stopped by employees and the police were contacted.

Inside the bag, Officers found 45 items totaling $1018 that had not been purchased.

The female, Angelica Buentello (02/19/1974), was arrested for theft. She was additionally charged after it was determined that she had an outstanding warrant out for her arrest.

Offense: Driving While Intoxicated with a Child Passenger

A Corpus Christi Police Officer on patrol stopped a vehicle he observed swerving from lane to lane as it traveled down the 1300 block of Ayers Street.

When the Officer stopped the 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe he found the driver along with is two small children in the vehicle with him.   After an investigation, the Officer determined that the driver, Roberto Morales (09/14/1989) was intoxicated. He was arrested for driving while intoxicated with a child passenger.

The children, a 6 year old female and a 11 month old male, were both released the their mother.
