The Corpus Christi Police Department responded to 924 calls for service and generated 194 reports for formal criminal complaints from 7:00 a.m. August 5 to 7:00 a.m. on August 6, 2015. These are samples of the criminal complaints filed by the Corpus Christi Police for that time period.

Corpus Christi Police responded to a hit and run crash at the corner of South Alameda Street and Paloma Street.

The crash investigation revealed that a 2013 Ford Explorer was stopped at the stop sign on Paloma Street waiting to turn onto South Alameda. A 2009 Chrysler PT Cruiser turned unsafely onto Paloma Street side swiping the Ford on the driver and passenger side. The driver of the Chrysler did not stop, and fled the scene of the crash.

The 53 year old female driver of the Ford followed the hit and run vehicle to a home in the 4800 block of Jarvis Street. There Officers found the female driver of the hit and run vehicle, Kimberly Reyes (08/23/1991).  After an investigation it was determined that she was intoxicated and she was arrested.

There were no injuries as a result of the crash.

A father who threw a cell phone at his child and hit him in the head was arrested by Corpus Christi Police.

Officers responded to Spohn South Hospital after emergency room staff called regarding an injury to a child. When Officers arrived they contacted the child’s mother who told them that the child’s father had come home intoxicated after she and her 18 month old son had gone to sleep in a bed at their apartment located at 5929 Woolridge Road.

For unknown reasons, the man came into the bedroom, and threw a cell phone at the pair while they were in bed. The phone struck the child on the right side of his head causing a severe laceration.

The mother called a friend to driver her and the child to the hospital.

Officers returned to the apartment and found the father, Jeremy Sanchez (05/25/1989), there and he was arrested for injury to a child. It was also determined that he had two outstanding warrants out for his arrest.

The child, who was released to his mother, needed stitches to close the cut to his head.

Child Protective Services is also investigating this incident.

A 33 year old female called Corpus Christi Police to report that her boyfriend was intoxicated and driving around with her 9 year old son.

The female told Officers that her boyfriend called threatening her 22 times in less than an hour and a half. She also reported that he was intoxicated and that he had her son in his SUV with him.

Officers located the man’s vehicle traveling on the Crosstown Freeway. After stopping the 2001 Ford Expedition, Officers confirmed that the driver, Joe Banda (07/16/1987), was intoxicated.

He was arrested for driving while intoxicated with a child passenger, a felony offense.

The child was released to his mother that went to the scene.

A disturbance over a vehicle led to one man being arrested for attempting to stab two other people.

Corpus Christi Police responded to a call at an apartment complex, located at 2921 Airline Road, after two men went to pick up a females vehicle that was in the parking lot. The 40 year old female shared an apartment there with Rondell Clemons (02/23/1990) and she wanted the two men to get her car.

When the two men approached the car, Mr. Clemons came outside, armed with a knife, and threatened to stab the two men if they did not leave. Mr. Clemons also punctured one of the tires on the vehicle before he went back inside.

When Officers arrived they spoke to the two men, and then went to the apartment of Mr. Clemons. Once inside, Officers found blood and medical supplies that indicated to them that Mr. Clemons may be injured.

He was not located in the apartment, but was found getting treatment for a cut on his right hand. It was determined that Mr. Clemons had cut himself with the knife sometime while he was chasing the two men, or stabbing the tire on the vehicle.

After he was treated, Officers arrested him for aggravated assault.
