Patrol Report 09/11/2015

The Corpus Christi Police Department responded to 975 calls for service and generated 204 reports for formal criminal complaints from 7:00 a.m. September 10 to 7:00 a.m. on September 11, 2015. These are samples of the criminal complaints filed by the Corpus Christi Police for that time period.

Corpus Christi Police and the Fire Department responded to a home, located in the 5600 block of Ventura Lane, for two vehicles that were on fire in the driveway.

When Officers arrived they found a 2007 Nissan Maxima and a 2007 Chrysler 300 on fire just outside the garage.

Both vehicles were a total loss with damage estimates being $65,000. At this time, no suspects have been identified.

A 26 year old female who was delivering meals on wheels to a resident in the Sea Gulf Villa Apartments, located at 416 North Chaparral Street, called Corpus Christi Police after she had her car stolen.

Officers responded to the area after the female said she parked her call in front of the building and left it running to deliver food for the “Meals on Wheels” program to a resident in the building. After dropping off the food, she came outside and found her 2000 Honda sedan was gone.

A short time later, other Officers saw the car traveling on Park Avenue near South Staples Street. When the suspect driving the stolen car noticed the Officers, he sped up. As he was trying to navigate a turn at 14th Street and Morris Street, he crashed the car into a culvert.

The suspect attempted to flee on foot, but was captured a short distance away. The suspect, Anthony Anaya (03/04/1968), was arrested for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, fleeing from police in a vehicle, and evading on foot.

A 42 year old man called Corpus Christi Police after he got a call from a neighbor who told him that he had seen someone steal a lawnmower from the man’s backyard.

The man went to his home, located in the 4000 block of West Vanderbilt Drive,  to watch video surveillance that he had around his home, and he saw the suspect and the suspect’s vehicle.

The man then went to a pawn shop, located at 4336 Ayers Street, and he spotted the suspect vehicle in the parking lot. He used his car to block it in and called police.

The driver of the suspect vehicle, who was sitting in the car, went into the pawn shop and told the suspect that they were blocked in. The suspect, who was inside the store trying to pawn the property, fled the store on foot before the police could arrive.

The driver of the suspect vehicle could not leave and he was arrested.  The driver, Allen Dale Maquar (01/16/1985), was charged with theft.

The suspect that fled on foot, was not captured, and Officers continue to investigate who this person might be.
