An alert female sitting in her car, in the parking lot of the Del Mar College Economic Center, located at 3209 South Staples Street, noticed a male suspect walking around trying to open car doors.
When she saw the suspect open the door of a parked 2006 Chevrolet truck and remove a backpack from inside, she called Corpus Christi Police.
The witness followed the suspect, at a safe distance, as he began walking away from the area. She was able to direct Officers to the suspect as he attempted to enter a barber shop in the 2900 block of Norton Street.
Officers found the suspect inside along with the stolen backpack. Officers arrested the man, Paul Gonzalez (10/03/1975), for burglary and the property was returned to the victim.

A business owner called Corpus Christi Police after he arrived at work and found his restaurant, located in the 8100 block of Leopard Street, had been broken into.
The owner told Officers that outside the restaurant, he noticed two wooden panels broken off the fence. He then found the back door had been forced open.
Just outside the door, lying on the ground, was an empty safe which appeared to have been pried open. The owner said the safe had been in the manager`s office and contained cash inside. The office was found to be ransacked with papers and objects thrown around.
Officers are looking into whether video surveillance from the restaurant captured the actions of the suspects while they were inside.
At this time, no arrest have been made.

A 31 year old man called Corpus Christi Police after someone hit him in the head with a glass bottle while he was leaving a bar, located in the 1400 block of Rodd Field Road.
The man said after he closed out his bar tab, he was walking out the door when a man approached him from behind and hit him with the bottle. He said that he fell down, and while on the ground, the man punched him three or four times.
CCFD EMS responded to the scene and treated the man for injuries to the back of his head, and his face. He was not transported to the hospital.
While investigating this call, a female bartender told Officers that she was verbally threatened by the same man after she told him he had to leave. The bartender was able to give Officers the man’s first name, but they did not locate him.

Corpus Christi Police responded to a crash in the parking lot of the Stripes Store, located in the 3200 block of Buddy Lawrence Drive.
The investigation revealed that a female was driving her 2014 Toyota Corolla into the parking lot when she struck a barrier in front of the store. Officers arrived, and after an investigation, it was determined that the driver, Emili Renee Barber (01/24/1981), was intoxicated.
She was arrested for driving while intoxicated and transported to Spohn Shoreline Hospital. While Officers were getting a sample of her blood, the female grabbed the nurse performing the blood draw. After she was told by Officers to let go of the nurse’s arm, she kicked the nurse twice in her leg with boots she was wearing.
The female was additionally charged with assault of a medical personnel, a felony offense.
The nurse was not seriously inured.
