Patrol Report 10/09/2015

The Corpus Christi Police Department responded to 921 calls for service and generated 211 reports for formal criminal complaints from 7:00 a.m. October 8 to 7:00 a.m. on October 9, 2015. These are samples of the criminal complaints filed by the Corpus Christi Police for that time period.

Case Number: 1510080134
The owner of a business called Corpus Christi Police after the front glass door to his business, located at 4514 Baldwin Boulevard,, was smashed and items removed from inside.

Officers arrived and found a tire tool they believe was used to smash the glass inside the business. Cardboard boxes full of Yeti cups were pulled from the back of the business to the front door, but then left behind.

The owner was not sure if the suspects actually got away with any merchandise.

At this time, Officers are still investigating this crime and no suspects have been identified.

Corpus Christi Police responded to a business alarm at the Harbor Freight Tools, located at 4955 Ayers Street, and found two glass windows on the west side of the main entrance had been smashed out.

It appears as though a vehicle may have been used to run into the windows in order for the suspects to gain entry. Once inside the business, Officers saw boxes containing tools on the floor. It is unknown if the suspects actually took any merchandise from inside of the store.

Damage done to the business was estimated to be $3,500.

At this time, Officers are still investigating this crime and no suspects have been identified.

Location: 1200 Clarion Drive
Offense: Injury to a Child

A mother and stepfather of a 9 year old boy were both arrested at their home, located in the 1200 block of Clarion Drive, after Corpus Christi Police Detectives obtained arrest warrants for injury to a child for the couple.

On October 6 just before 2 PM, Officers became aware that Child Protective Services had brought a boy to Driscoll Children’s Hospital with numerous injuries. Detectives determined that the injuries to the child were inflicted by the stepfather, Chazwick Joseph Lewis (12/09/1990), and the mother Natasha Lewis, (07/29/1985) on October 4.

Arrest warrants were obtained for both, and Officers went to their home just before 10 PM yesterday and arrested them.

The child remains in the care of Child Protective Services.

Corpus Christi Police responded to an assault call at a home located in the 1100 block of Whitaker Drive.

When Officers arrived, a 39 year old male victim told them that after he and his girlfriend had an argument she had her son and nephew assault him inside the home.  The victim was able to get away and run outside. The two suspects ran down the street after him and when they caught him, they assaulted him again. This time they took his shorts, wallet, phone and some cash.

Officers arrived and arrested both suspects, Jonathan Vela (08/29/1986) and Roel Juarez (01/16/1994) for robbery.

The victim was transported by CCFD EMS to Bay Area Hospital with injuries not believed to be life threatening.
