Officers On Paid Leave After Shooting A Man Who Pointed A Gun At Them

The two Corpus Christi Police Officers have been placed on administrative leave, as normal by policy, after an officer involved shooting at a home located in the 6300 block of St. Denis Street.

Senior Officer Chance Durbin, a five year veteran of the department, is the Officer who shot and injured a man who pointed a gun at both Officers while they were investigating a disturbance call at the home just after 1 PM on Friday.

Officer Donna Gilliam, a recent graduate of the last police academy on October 9th, was with Senior Officer Durbin at the time of the shooting, but did not discharge her weapon.

Senior Officer Durbin, is a Field Training Officer, and Officer Gilliam was assigned to ride with him as part of her continued training.

Both Officers will remain on paid administrative leave until further notice.

The suspect, who pointed a gun at both Officers, Marcus Escobar (04/26/1994), has been charged with two counts of attempted capital murder. He was booked into jail after being treated and released from Spohn Memorial Hospital at about 6 PM Friday evening.
