Patrol Report 11/13/2015

The Corpus Christi Police Department responded to 914 calls for service and generated 177  reports for formal criminal complaints from 7:00 a.m. November 12 to 7:00 a.m. on November 13, 2015. These are samples of the criminal complaints filed by the Corpus Christi Police for that time period.

Location: State Highway 181
Offense: Downed Power Lines
Corpus Christi Police Officers were busy directing traffic this morning around a set of downed power lines on North Beach.

Officers responded to State Highway 181 just before 3 AM and found the two power lines down across the freeway and the access roads in both directions. Officers detoured traffic off the freeway onto streets on North Beach at the Burleson Street exit north bound, and the Beach Street exit south bound to help get them around the downed lines.

Thanks to the quick work of AEP, the freeway was reopened at about 5:45 AM.

AEP is still looking into what caused the set of power lines to come down.

Offense: Aggravated Robbery

Case Number: 1511130002
A 17 year old male victim walked into Spohn Shoreline Hospital with injuries to his head after he was pistol whipped by a group of men who robbed him in front of his home in the 500 block of Dixon Drive.

Hospital Staff called Corpus Christi Police who arrived and spoke to the victim. He told Officers that he recognized a black male that he only knows as “Isaiah” walk up his driveway and asked about some money that the victim owed him.

About that time, that another black male wearing a white hoodie also walked up and pulled out a handgun. The victim said he was hit on the back of the head with the pistol and he fell to the ground.

While he was on the ground the two suspects searched through the victims pockets and took cash from him. Both suspects left the area on foot and the victim drove himself to the hospital.

The victim could only provide Officers with limited information about the suspects.

He was treated for a minor cut to his head at the hospital.

Case Number: 1511120131
A 22 year old man called Corpus Christi Police after his girlfriend assaulted him and threatened him with a sledge hammer.

Officers arrived at the home in the 3800 block of Golliher Road and were told by the man that he accidently woke up his sleeping girlfriend by playing loud music.  She began to argue with him and slapped him on his chest, and legs. She also grabbed him by his hair and punched him in the face and head several times with a closed fist.

She then picked up a sledgehammer and raised it above her head and told him to get out of the house. The man was able to escape without being seriously injured and Officers arrived in time to arrest the girlfriend, Andrea Martinez (02/25/1988).

She is charged with aggravated assault, a first degree felony.

The sledgehammer was recovered as evidence.

Offense: Driving While Intoxicated

Case Number: 1511130019
A man drove his car onto a cement block as he was pulling into the Stripes Convenience Store, locate in the 9300 block of Leopard Street.

Officers arrived and found a 2011 Dodge Challenger sedan with damage to the front end and the undercarriage left abandoned in the parking lot.

Officers found the driver outside the Office Club Bar located next door to the store.

After an investigation, they determined that the driver, Jose Carlos Avila (07/02/1980) was intoxicated.  He was arrested for driving while intoxicated, and his car was impounded.

Corpus Christi Police responded to reports of a wrong way driver on Interstate Highway 37 near Violet Road just before 2 AM.

Before Officers could catch up to the 2008 Nissan Armada, it spun out near the center median of the freeway and came to a stop facing the wrong direction.  Officers arrived and contacted the driver, who was not injured.

After an investigation it was determined that he was intoxicated.  The driver, J.T. Gonzales (11/15/1982), was arrested and his vehicle was impounded.
