Two restaurants along South Staples Street were both broken into in similar ways.
Corpus Christi Police were originally called to a restaurant located at 4102 South Staples Street. An employee there told Officers that they arrived at work and found a hole in the wall underneath a desk and also a hole cut into the safe.
When Officers arrived they saw that entry into the restaurant was actually made through a vacant business next door. The front door to that business had been pried open. Once they were inside the vacant business they were able to tunnel through the drywall and into the restaurant. It is estimated the suspects did nearly $500 in damage to the drywall, and another $600 in damage cutting a hole in the safe. Investigators are reviewing camera surveillance images from the restaurant, however at this time no arrests have been made.
A short time later, Corpus Christi Police were called to another restaurant, located at 3821 South Staples Street, and employees at that business told Officers that sometime overnight, suspects had pried open the back door and then gained entry into an interior office. The suspects went straight to the safe and cut it open as well. It is estimated at least $600 in damage was done to the door and the safe.

A female was arrested by Corpus Christi Police during the midnight showing of the movie “Star Wars” at a theater located at 6685 South Padre Island Drive.
Officers were notified by theater management that there had been a disturbance between two female patrons prior to the movie starting. A 26 year old female reported to management that she asked another women sitting near her not to kick her seat. The women responded by threatening to cut the other female.
Management was notified of the disturbance and went into the theatre and found the other female sitting across two seats with her legs up. She was asked by management to leave, however she refused.
Officers arrived, and the force was with them and after a brief struggle, they arrested Amber-Rai Lee (08/14/1987) for making threats to cut the other female, disorderly conduct, criminal trespass, and resisting arrest. She was also determined to be intoxicated and so she was additionally charged with public intoxication.
The show went on without further incident.

A driver was arrested by Corpus Christi Police after he was found passed out at a red light in the 4900 block of Everhart Road.
Officers arrived and found the 2011 Ford Fusion stopped in the roadway and saw a male sitting in the driver’s seat asleep at the wheel with the engine running and the car in gear. Officers were able to put the car into park and turn the ignition off.
After waking up the driver, James Magill (03/07/1992), Officers determined that he was intoxicated and he was taken into custody. He was arrested for driving while intoxicated, a Class B misdemeanor and his car was impounded.

A couple was arrested by Corpus Christi Police after security guards at Spohn Memorial Hospital saw them braking into a parked car.
Security called Officers and said that they observed a man going through the tool box of a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado truck that was parked in the visitor’s parking lot. Security also told Officers that there was a female assisting the man in removing property.
The couple tried to walk out of the area, but Officers were able to catch up to them in the 1000 block of 22nd Street.
Officers arrested John Castillo (10/13/1988) and his wife Elaine Castillo (10/24/1987) for burglary.

Corpus Christi Police were called after a female driving a stolen vehicle crashed into another car in the 800 block of Airline Road , then fled the scene, and then crashed into a brick fence in the 5100 block of Cape Ann Street.
The female was driving a 2013 Nissan X-Terra that had been reported stolen out of Sinton, Texas on December 4. While traveling on Lum Street, the driver of the stolen vehicle ran the stop sign at the intersection with Airline Road and crashed into a 2011 Honda Ridgeline driven by a 43 year old man.
The driver of the Nissan then fled the scene of the crash on South Alameda Street. The driver of the Honda followed the hit and run driver, and witnessed it crash into a brick fence of a home on Cape Ann Street.
The female driver of the stolen vehicle then fled that crash scene on foot into the neighborhood and was not located.
The owner of the brick fence estimated that the damage to his property was over $3000.
