City Manager Ron Olson has named Mike Markle for appointment as the next Chief of Police for the City of Corpus Christi.
Chief Markle has more than 26 years of law enforcement experience and is an Assistant Chief of Police for the Corpus Christi Police Department. Markle has served as Interim Police Chief since the untimely death of former Police Chief Floyd Simpson. The Chief of Police oversees the Police Department with approximately 432 sworn officers, 220 civilians and a budget of more than $70 million.
The appointment is subject to confirmation by the City Council, which is expected to take place in January 2016.
