The Corpus Christi Police Department responded to 677 calls for service and generated 141 reports for formal criminal complaints from 7:00 a.m. January 10 to 7:00 a.m. on January 11, 2016. These are samples of the criminal complaints filed by the Corpus Christi Police for that time period.

Location: 3100 Ocean Drive
Offense: Racing

Case Number: 1601100103
A man was arrested by Corpus Christi Police after an Officer saw him racing another vehicle down the 3100 block of Ocean Drive.

The Officer saw two vehicles take off from the intersection of Ocean Drive and Louisiana Parkway.  When the traffic light turned green, a 2004 Ford Mustang and another vehicle left the intersection at a very high rate of speed accelerating rapidly. Both cars were next to each other and continued to accelerate in an obvious challenge of speed.

The Officer was able to stop the driver of the Ford Mustang, Noe Valdez (01/05/1994), and he was arrested for racing, a Class B misdemeanor. His car was impounded.

The other driver was not located.

Offense: Aggravated Assault

A 44 year old man walked into a restaurant, located at 2402 Ayers Street, and told an off duty police officer working there that he had been shot.

Other Officers arrived and found the man had been shot at least twice in the upper back, but could not tell them where it had occurred. He was then transported to Spohn Memorial Hospital by CCFD EMS.

Further investigation by Officers led them to a crime scene at 4836 Ayers Street. There they found shell casings in the walkway leading up to a nightclub. Officers also found the victims Ford truck parked in the parking lot and his cell phone and keys nearby.

The victim did not provide Officers with any suspect information.

His injuries did not appear to be life threatening.

Location: 4300 Killarmet Drive
Offense: Deadly Conduct

A home and two vehicles, located in the 4300 block of Killarmet Drive, were both damaged by shots that were fired from a shotgun.

Officers arrived, and a mother and daughter who lived at the home told them that they had heard loud bangs outside the home in the overnight, but thought it was fireworks. They woke up to find that two vehicles belonging to them, a 2015 Dodge Journey and a 2012 Chevrolet Impala, had both been damaged.  They also found that the garage door of the home had also been hit by shots.

When Officers arrived they found two shotgun shells in the middle of the street.

It is unknown why the victims were targeted, and at this time there is no suspect information.

Offense: Robbery

A 29 year old female called Corpus Christi Police after a man, who had asked her for money as she exited a store, hit her in the face.

The female told Officers that she was exiting a convenience store, located at 2002 Morgan Avenue, when a black male approached her and asked her if she had a dollar. The female, who had money in her hand from the transaction in the store, was then hit on the left side of her face by the man. He grabbed the money in her hand and took off running.

Officers arrived a short time later and found the man, Thomas Walker (10/18/1991), hiding near an apartment of a housing authority complex on Ruth Street. He was arrested for robbery, a second degree felony.

CCFD EMS treated the female for minor injuries at the scene.

Offense: Driving While Intoxicated

Corpus Christi Police are investigating a wreck after a female crashed her car while traveling along State Highway 361 near Beach Access Road 3.

The crash investigation by Officers determined that the driver of a 2013 Volkswagen Jetta was traveling north on State Highway 361 when the driver lost control, left the roadway, and struck a fence.

The female driver, Brittany Sara Marie Ramos (02/23/1990), was not injured, but after an investigation it was determined that she was intoxicated. She was arrested for driving while intoxicated and her car was impounded.

The intoxicated driver did approximately $200 in damages to the fence along he highway.
