There is an ongoing series of thefts from curbside mailboxes occurring on the Island and the south side of town.  We suspect that the offender is driving a white 2 door extended cab pick up truck, possibly a Ford F-150.  It appears that this truck does not have a front license plate and also displays a handicap placard.

Some tips from the U.S. Postal Inspection Service on preventing theft from curbside mailboxes:

  • Use a locking mailbox
  • Pick up your mail promptly after delivery. Don’t leave it in your mailbox overnight. If you’re expecting checks, credit cards, or other negotiable items, ask a trusted friend or neighbor to pick up your mail.
  • If you see a mail thief at work, or if you believe your mail was stolen, call police immediately, then call Postal Inspectors at 877-876-2455.
