At approximately 6:46 PM on January 15, 2019, Corpus Christi Police Officers responded to a major crash at the intersection of Staples and Baldwin.
Upon arrival, officers determined that 2 vehicles were involved in a head-on collision.
The driver of unit one, 19-year-old male, was determined to be at fault for failing to yield the right of way. The driver, sole occupant, was cited accordingly and released to the hospital for follow-up care.
Unit two was occupied times four. This vehicle was occupied by 2 adults and 2 young children. A 26-year-old male passenger was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased. One child was transported to Driscoll in critical condition and the second child was transported to Driscoll in critical but stable condition. The driver of the vehicle, a 28-year-old female, sustained major injuries but was last updated in stable condition. The 28-year-old female was found to be under the influence and is subsequently being charged with Driving while Intoxicated with a Child. (SJF)
