Incident: Officer Involved Shooting
Case Number: 2011140016

At approximately 2:32 am on Saturday, November 14, 2020, Corpus Christi Police Department Officers were dispatched to the 5300 block of Bonham Street for a disturbance in progress, involving a weapon.

When officers arrived, they attempted to speak to both parties. It was apparent to officers that the female was in distress and as officers attempted to separate her from the offender to check on her welfare the offender confronted the officers with a handgun. As the officers attempted to retreat, the offender discharged his handgun at the officers. One officer returned fire and struck the offender.

The offender retreated into the home and would not communicate further with officers who were attempting to check on his welfare.  The female involved in the disturbance was able to exit the home safely.

Officers with our Emergency Response Team who were called out to assist, utilized a robotic camera to make entry into the home, at which point they located a 66-year-old male, who had succumbed to his injuries.  A handgun was located near the offender and secured.

This is an active and ongoing investigation being conducted by the Corpus Christi Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division.

Three Corpus Christi Police Officers have been placed on paid administrative leave at this time in accordance with department practice and policy.
