The Corpus Christi Police Department would like to extend our most heartfelt condolences to the families and friends of the victims of yesterday’s horrific tragedy. Our sympathies and prayers extend to the entire community of Uvalde, Texas as they continue to process the devastation.

We recognize that such events leave many feeling unsettled and Corpus Christi is no exception.

In an effort to support our school partners and to allay our community’s fears for the safety of their children during these last days of school, the Corpus Christi Police Department will have an increased police presence around our area schools. The safety of our children is our priority.

We would also like to remember the area Law Enforcement who responded to yesterday’s scene, they were the line of defense who put their own lives on the line to save those in desperate need of assistance. The Emergency Medical Responders and Hospital Staff who worked diligently to save the victims are also not forgotten, you are all in our thoughts.
