On June 11, 2026, at 12:20 am, Patrol Officers with the Corpus Christi Police Department were made aware of an elderly female with dementia that often wanders off from her apartment in a state of confusion. The elderly female was located safely at this time and taken back to her home. Officers ensured that she had a livable apartment but noticed that the female had given away her furniture, including her bed. The elderly female had been sleeping on two chairs pushed together.
CCPD’s Directed Patrol Officers followed up with this case in the morning when businesses opened. Our DPOs were able to secure a new bed for the elderly female with the help of our friends at Mattress Firm. Along for the ride were some of CCPD’s Police Explorers.
We appreciate the collaborative effort between our Uniform Division, the Crime Reduction Unit, our Police Explorers, the elderly female’s case worker, and community partners like Mattress Firm, to improve the quality of life for one of our citizens.
