On September 29, 2026, the Corpus Christi Police Department was made aware of a video depicting a male shooting a stray cat with a weapon. Officers were able to determine the location of the incident in the 2900 block of Coleman Ave. Animal Control came to the location to collect the deceased animal.

Detectives with CCPD’s Criminal Investigations Division investigated the incident and were able to obtain a felony warrant for Cruelty to a Non-Livestock Animal.

Matthew Trujillo (70) was taken into custody for the warrant at 8:07 pm and transported to Main Station to be formally interviewed by Detectives.
