On October 29, 2023, officers were dispatched to the 8000 block of S. Padre Island Dr. in reference to a theft of a trailer. Officers contacted the victim who advised that sometime during the previous week their white in color enclosed Interstate cargo trailer was taken from a storage facility. A trailer lock was cut off in order to tow the trailer away.

Officers reviewed security footage and were able to determine 3 suspects were involved in this incident. They were driving an older white Ford Econoline van with a roof rack which is believed to have been stolen also.  

Upon further investigation at least one of the male suspects was also involved in multiple storage unit burglaries during the previous week at the same location. After the burglaries, the male suspect was seen leaving in a mid-sized SUV pictured below.

Corpus Christi Police Investigators would like help from the public to locate missing person Charles Cantu.

Charles was last seen in July 2023 by his family. Charles is 36 years old. He is approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighs about 135 pounds. He has blonde hair and blue eyes.

In reference to the officer involved shooting on October 7, 2023 on Angelique Court, 18-year-old Leandro Leon was arrested on October 8, 2023, for 3 counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon for his role in the incident.  

The vehicle being fired upon by the suspect was occupied by three adult males; one of whom was an 18-year-old local high school student.  The student was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The identity of the deceased male is still pending positive identification through the Nueces County Medical Examiner’s office.

Julia Quinones Lechuga is wanted for HINDER APPREHENSION OR PROSECUTION. She is described as a 32 year old female who stand 5’ 01” feet and weighs approximately 170 pounds, with black hair and black eyes.

Alexander Quinones is wanted for AGGRAVATED ASSAULTED WITH A DEADLY WEAPON . He is considered armed and dangerous. He is described as a 38 year old male who stands 6’ 0” feet and weighs approximately 238 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.

On August 7, 2023, retired Lieutenant Trace Weaver succumbed to complications related to the injuries he sustained in the line of duty.

While serving as a Patrol Shift Supervisor on May 12, 1997, Lieutenant Trace Weaver responded to an emergency call and was exposed to a dangerous chemical. Lt. Weaver retired from the department on June 30, 2003. Lt. Weaver joined the department on August 24, 1981, after serving in the United States Army.

Lt. Weaver is survived by his wife of 40 years, and two sons.
