Corpus Christi Police Department Investigators need your help identifying this aggravated robbery suspect.

On May 05, 2019 a suspect entered a convenience store located on the 7100 block of Staples. The suspect displayed a weapon and was able to get away with an undisclosed amount of money. The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 5’07-5’10, between 30-40 years of age, wearing a black baseball cap, green long sleeve shirt, black pants, brown shoes, with a mustache and eye glasses.

On May 06, 2019 a suspect matching the same description as the earlier robbery entered a convenience store located on the 5600 block of Leopard. The suspect displayed a weapon in this robbery as well and was able to get away with an undisclosed amount of money.

This male is suspected in least one other convenience store robbery.

The suspect vehicle is described as a late 90’s to early 2000’s Chevy Silverado Extended Cab with damage to the passenger side of the vehicle.

At approximately 10:56 pm on Friday, May 3, 2019, officers were patrolling the area near Cuiper Park when they were advised of suspicious males in the area.  As one of the officers attempted to make contact with three males, one of the subjects fired upon a second responding officer striking his fully marked police unit several times.  The initial officer returned fire but the subject was able to evade on foot.  Two of the males remained on scene and were immediately detained.  A perimeter was quickly set up for the surrounding area and the third subject was located on the 4300 block of Brentwood. No injuries were sustained by anyone on scene.

A 16-year-old male was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault on a Peace Officer.  A 15-year-old male was charged with Possession of Substance in Penalty Group 2-A.  A 17-year-old male was released on scene.

Two Corpus Christi Police Officers have been placed on paid administrative leave in accordance with current department practice and policy.

Officer Michael Love has been a police officer with the Corpus Christi Police Department since July 2017.

Today marks the 26^th Anniversary of the murder of Kathleen Suckley.  Investigators want your help to discover any new information which could help locate the individual responsible for her Murder.

On April 8, 1993 the body of 29-year-old Kathleen Suckley was found at her residence located on the 5000 block of Meandering Lane.   Kathleen was found with several fatal stab wounds.  Kathleen’s two young children were inside the home at the time of the Murder.

An anti-prostitution sting conducted by the Corpus Christi Police Department’s Narcotics and Vice Investigations Division Thursday afternoon resulted in the apprehension of four men on charges of prostitution, a class B misdemeanor punishable by up to six months in jail and fines up to $2,000.  The men were arrested after they solicited an undercover CCPD Officer, posing as a prostitute, for sex acts in exchange for money.  The operation targeted several north and west side neighborhoods frequented by prostitutes.

NVID Detectives were assisted in the operation by Directed Patrol and Operations Division Officers, as well as civilians with the Red Cord Initiative.  The Red Cord Initiative is a prostitution diversion program aimed to provide practical and emotional support for those involved in prostitution. The program is successful due to the collaboration between the Coastal Bend Wellness Foundation, social service organizations, Nueces County District Attorney Office, and the Corpus Christi Police Department.  The program affords those involved with sex work an opportunity to address the myriad of behavioral, social, and psychological problems they have faced throughout their lifetime. Since 2013, Red Cord has provided case management, health services, job training, substance abuse treatment, clothing, housing, counseling, and other social services needed to address the circumstances related to their involvement in prostitution.  Participants who successfully complete the program have their cases dismissed by the District Attorney’s Office.

All four of the men apprehended during Thursday’s operation agreed to attend a voluntary prostitution diversion education program at their expense.  This program educates men about the negative consequences of prostitution, circumstances that may lead someone to purchase sex, and the impact they have on the individual they attempt to solicit sex from in exchange for money.  The fees raised from this program are then used to provide some of the resources mentioned above, to assist women seeking to escape the bondage of prostitution. Although often inaccurately referred to as a “victimless” crime, prostitution is inextricably linked to multiple other crimes including assault, human trafficking, sexual abuse, drug abuse, and the spread of sexually transmitted infectious disease.  Neighborhoods where prostitution is prevalent experience a drastic degradation of the quality of life that citizens expect and deserve.  The Corpus Christi Police Department will continue to collaborate with all government and private entities to combat prostitution and help accomplish our mission of working with the community to reduce crime, reduce the fear of crime and enhance public safety.

As is our practice we are releasing the information of the officers who were involved in the officer involved shooting.

Two Corpus Christi Police Officers have been placed on paid administrative leave due to their involvement, or presence, at the scene of the officer involved shooting.  The administrative leave is in accordance with current department practice and policy.

Senior Officer Gilbert Cantu has been a police officer with the Corpus Christi Police Department for 7 years. Senior Officer Cantu is a Field Training Officer and was working with a Recruit Officer.

Officer Jacqueline Deleon has been a police officer with the Corpus Christi Police Department for less than 1 year and is in the Field Officer Stage of her Training. Officer Deleon did not discharge her weapon during the incident.

As this call was still actively working, additional officers made contact with a vehicle at the intersection of N Staples/Lipan Street with two suspects who matched the description of the robbery suspects. Upon further investigation, it was determined that the two males inside of the vehicle were involved in the commission of the Aggravated Robberies. A total of 3 guns (2 shotguns and a one handgun), clothing and disguises that were used in the commission of both robberies were located and were later tagged into evidence.

Timothy Leal (10/18/1992) was arrested for Aggravated Robbery as well as 10 outstanding Municipal Court Warrants. A 16-year-old male was also arrested and charged with Aggravated Robbery and Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon as he still had one of the weapons used in the commission of the robbery on his person.

Hensley is described as a 39-year-old male who stands 6 feet 04 inches tall, weighs approximately 200 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.

The warrant stems from a Murder which occurred on the 2800 block of Robby that Corpus Christi Police Officers responded to on Sunday, March 10, 2019.

Starting in April, Corpus Christi Parking Control will begin sending out notices of intent to “Boot or Tow” vehicles with outstanding parking violations.  A 10-day grace period will be given to resolve any outstanding citations before booting a vehicle.

Beginning May 6, 2019, Parking Control will “Boot” vehicles that have not resolved their unpaid citations or parking violations.  Booted vehicles are also subject to being impounded.

The registered owner/lessee of the vehicle whose license plate has been identified as having delinquent parking violations will receive their initial notice by mail.  Notifications will be sent to any owner/lessee whose vehicle has three or more outstanding parking citations in a calendar year owed to the City of Corpus Christi, TX.  Per Section 53-192(i) (1) through (5) of the Corpus Christi Municipal Code, a vehicle with a license plate identified as having delinquent parking violations is eligible for immobilization (boot) or impoundment (tow) unless all fines and penalties are paid in full to the City of Corpus Christi within 10 days from the date of the letter or an Administrative Hearing is requested.

The registered owner of the vehicle, in addition to being responsible for all outstanding parking citations, will be responsible for all fees and costs incurred in immobilizing and/or impounding the vehicle, including storage fees.

At approximately 5:46 pm Corpus Christi Police Department was dispatched to a retail store located on the 5400 block of S Padre Island Drive for a shot fired call.

Upon arrival, officers contacted a witness who advised that he heard a gunshot in the common area of the mall. The witness contacted the subject who told the him that the weapon accidentally discharged. Before the officers arrived, the subject had departed.

No injuries have been reported and there is no active threat to the public.  Our officers are on scene investigating the matter.
