Foul play suspected in man’s disappearance

The Corpus Christi Police Department Homicide/Robbery Bureau is asking the public’s assistance in locating 27-year-old Cody Ryan Yarbrough who was reported missing on July 23, 2013.  Yarbrough’s girlfriend told Officers she last saw him on  Tuesday, July 23rd at 904 Parker’s Alley.  CCPD Case number: 1308160073.

Cody is a White male, standing 5’9″ feet tall and weighing 180 lbs.  Detectives and family fear foul play is a factor in Cody’s disappearance.

A 50-year-old man reported to Police he was stabbed as he walked to the Good Samaritan.  The man told Officers, three men confronted him and demanded his money.   Two men assaulted the victim, while the third man stabbed him.  The victim was able to walk to the Good Samaritan where CCPD and CCFD were called.  He was taken to Spohn Memorial with non-life threatening injuries.

The suspect who committed the stabbing is described as a thin Hispanic male, 28-31 years of age, and approximately 5’10” feet tall.   He was last seen wearing a blue shirt and blue jeans.

Police pulled over a vehicle driving westbound in the eastbound lane.  The driver Jody Salem (09/09/94) and the front seat passenger Joshua Ryan Mills (10/07/93) were arrested after a firearm and ammunition were found in the vehicle.

Mills was also found to be in possession of an assortment of medication not prescribed to him.  Both Mills and Salem were arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon.  Mills additionally charged with Possession of Dangerous Drugs.

Animal Control Receives Audit by Texas Agriculture Department

A routine audit was performed on Corpus Christi Animal Care Services – Vector Control, by the Texas Department of Agriculture on August 22, 2013 at 9:30am.

The audit included an “inspection of records, land, equipment, and products associated with pesticides, including coping of records and sampling of preceding items.” – As quoted in the inspection report.

By State Law, CCACS – Vector Control is required to use certain pesticides for the removal of vector related insects. These pesticides are regulated by the Texas Department of Agriculture to ensure safety to the public.

CCACS passed the audit and inspection without problems.

CCACS works diligently with the public to handle their concerns of bees and other vector insects.

Animal Control Continues Sweeps across City

As part of our Target Spay and Neuter Program and to combat the overpopulation problem that plagues Corpus Christi communities, Corpus Christi Animal Control Services continues to do enforcement and education sweeps.

Animal Services Officers performed sweeps in the following neighborhoods today between the hours of 9:00am and 1:00pm.

Mohawk & Virginia area
6300 block of Old Brownsville Road
Agnes & Laredo area

Animal Control Officers issued twenty-six citations, returned three dogs to their owners, and impounded one dog. C.C.A.C.S. is committed to continued education of spay/neutering dogs and cats, as well as enforcement of city ordinances. C.C.A.C.S. will perform its next sweep on August 23, 2013 in the Mohawk & Virginia neighborhoods.

Detectives with the Corpus Christi Police Department’s Auto Theft Task Force are asking the public’s assistance to identify two men responsible for stealing a white 2012 Ford F250.  The work truck was loaded with approximately $27,000 worth of tools and equipment when stolen.

Free or Low Cost Spay/Neuters Being Offered to Targeted Areas

Corpus Christi Animal Control Services is proud to offer Target Spay/Neuter services to targeted areas around Corpus Christi. Target Spay/Neuter is a program that reduces stray and homeless animals by targeting areas that have repeat stray animal calls-for-service.

On August 10, 2013,  People Assisting Animal Control and C.C.A.C.S. staff walked door to door to inform residents in the Virginia and Mohawk areas about free or low-cost spay/neuter services offered by C.C.A.C.S. Veterinary Clinic.  We are currently taking appointments from residents that live in the general area of Virginia and Mohawk.

Residents are encouraged to bring their dogs and cats to the shelter and take advantage of this program that will expire on September 1, 2013. To make an appointment, residents should contact C.C.A.C.S. at 361-826-4630 each Monday between 2:00pm and 4:00pm.  Animal Control Officers will begin doing sweeps of the area on August 21st to impound stray animals.

 

 

 

 

Warrant issued for Cowboy Boot Wearing Shoplifter and Accomplice

Corpus Christi Police Detective S. Cox has obtained warrants for two women involved in the August 14th shoplifting incident at Academy Sporting Goods.

Nola Morales (04/15/86) is wanted for Theft and Evading Arrest, while her accomplice Amanda Gonzalez Macias-Chavez (08/30/86) is wanted for Theft.  Bond was set at $2,500 for each warrant.

Corpus Christi Police Officers investigated a private parking Accident with minor injuries Wednesday morning when they saw a woman running out of the store chased by Academy’s loss prevention. Academy.  An Officer chased the woman when the loss prevention employees yelled that the woman just stole from the store.

The Officer followed until the suspect showed her intent to cross the freeway. At this point the Officer stopped chasing the suspect.  A friend of the suspect was detained, but an affirmative link to the act of theft could not be established. She was identified and released at the scene. The woman crossed the freeway and remains at large.

Narcotics Vice Division Investigators with the assistance of the Gang Unit served a search at Paradise Bay Apartments.  A search of the residence netted a seizure of 53.4 grams  of MDMA,  20.19 grams of powder cocaine,  7.3 grams of crack cocaine,  one gram of marijuana, $971.00 cash and a pistol.1308160023

Marcus Anthony Garza (08/21/89) was arrested and charged with two counts Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon.

AdrianAlanizNarcotics Vice Division Investigators conducted a knock and talk at the Arbors on Saratoga apartment complex after receiving information of drug trafficking by one of the tenants.

The resident signed a consent to search  which netted a seizure of 58.3 grams of MDMA,  636.4 gram of powder cocaine,  221.25 grams of marijuana, a quantity of ecstasy pills,  along with a firearm and $5,626.00 cash.

The handgun was found to be stolen out of Brazoria County.  Adrian Alaniz (02/25/90) was arrested and charged with two counts of Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance,  Possession of Marijuana,  and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon.

Corpus Christi Police Homicide/Robbery Detectives are asking the public’s assistance to help identify the suspect responsible for holding up a Stripes Convience Store employee on Sunday, August 11, 2013.   The clerk gave the robber an undetermined amount of money.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic man, 20 to 25 years of age, 5’5” feet tall, and weighing 170 to 190 lbs.  He was last seen wearing a yellow striped shirt and white shorts and fled in a white Chevrolet truck.

Police were called to the Dillard’s at La Palmera Mall for a store loss prevention officer who was assaulted when he attempted to stop a shoplifter.
