Sleeping Homeless Man Dies After Being Run Over

A homeless man sleeping in a vacant lot next to NAPA Auto Supply was run over by a JEDI Drilling truck.  The man sustained severe head trauma and died at the accident scene.  Tthe accident investigation has been turned over to the Traffic Division.

Local Fishermen Robbed at Gunoint

Three fishermen reported to Police they were robbed by an armed gunman as they fished near the JFK Causeway.  The victims told Officers they were approached by male asking for gas money.  The man was told they didn’t have any money and he walked back to his truck, but returned and was now armed with a gun.  One of the fisherman handed the robber his fishing rod when he threatened to shoot them.

The suspect fled westbound towards Flour Bluff. Gathering Interrupted by Home Invasion

Police contacted several victims at 4601 Abner who reported two men armed with handguns forced their way into residence.  The victims were forced to empty their pockets and turn over their phone and money before being locked in the bathroom.  The victims told Officers the males kept threatening to shoot them.  A victim who attempted to escape was dragged into the bathroom by one of the suspects.  Another victim was pistol whipped by the suspects, but left prior to the Officers arrival.  The males burglarized the home taking a couple of television sets, a laptop computer, a keyboard, and several baseball caps. 

The first suspect is described as a Hispanic male, 20 to 30 years of age, 6’ to 6’1” feet tall, and weighing 200 to 250 lbs.  He was last seen wearing glasses and a red shirt which was used to cover his face.  The second suspect was also a Hispanic male, 5’8” to 5’10” feet tall, and weighing 170 to 180 lbs.  He was wearing a black ski mask.   The suspects loaded up the stolen items and fled in a maroon Ford Expedition.

Nowhere to Run, Nowhere to Hide

There was nowhere to hide, yesterday afternoon as police officers scoured the streets looking for three wanted subjects.  At 4:15 pm, Officers J. Vela and J. Cantu found Melissa Garza (11/14/82) at Paradise Bay Apartments and arrested her on a Felony Theft Warrant obtained by Property Crimes Detective J. Little.  Garza was originally cited for shoplifting $48 worth of store merchandise at H.E.B. Plus on Saratoga.  Due to her prior theft convictions, the Class “C” Misdemeanor was upgraded to a Felony.  She was arrested and booked on the outstanding warrant. #1204150083 

Twenty minutes later, at 4:35 pm, Senior Officer H. Corona checked on wanted suspect Marcus Andrew Brailey and found him at his girlfriend’s. Brailey who was wanted on an Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle warrant obtained by Homicide Detective R. Torres was arrested and booked at the City Detention Center.  Brailey’s bond was set $25,000.  Brailey is accused of U.U.M.V. stemming from a vehicle taken in a robbery on April 23, 2012. #1204230028 

Officer J. Vela booked Garza and went searching for Guadalupe Cruz 910/15/82) and found him at Paradise Bay Apartments. Cruz was arrested and charged with a fresh off the press warrant for Felony Theft obtained by Property Crimes Detective D. Rjasko.  Cruz’ bond was also set at $25,000.  Cruz is accused of stealing the victim’s jewelry when she provided him with a glass of water.  Cruz was part of a flooring crew working inside the victim’s home. #1206090101

Couple That Breaks the Law Together, Goes to Jail Together

Police investigating a destruction call in the area were told the suspects were in a red truck at 5521 Kenith Circle.  Frank Rowland and his companion “Marie Delgado”  were sitting inside the truck when contacted. “Delgado” was escorted to her home at 5526 Kenith Circle, but was still unable to provide Officers with any identification.  Officers were able to check the registration on a vehicle parked at the residence which showed Sonya Cisneros to be the registered owner.  Cisneros was also found to be wanted.

Rowland wasn’t very confident when he told Officers “Marie’s” identity, but finally came clean and told them her real name. Rowland knew Sonya Marie Cisneros (11/05/77) was wanted and lied about her true identity.   Officers confirmed Sonya Marie Cisneros aka Marie Delgado was wanted. 

Frank F. Rowland (12/19/60) and Sonya Marie Cisneros (11/05/77) were both arrested and booked at the City Detention Center.  Rowland was charged with Hindering Apprehension, while Cisneros was charged with two outstanding Nueces County warrants for Larceny and Assault along with Failure to Identify as a Fugitive.

Roland Ray Palomo (10/01/78) was detained by La Palmera Mall Security  after he tried to obtain credit at Kay’s Jewelers using his brother’s social security. A Kay’s Jeweler associate reported Palomo tried to buy a ring and applied for credit.  Shortly thereafter, their corporate office notified her, an identity theft alert had been placed on the social security number used.  The associate contacted the victim who verified  his brother was using his social security to obtain credit.

Palomo was arrested and charged with Fraudulent Use or Possession of Identifying Information, a State Jail Felony punishable up to two years in jail and up to a $10,000 fine.  If you suspect that your personal information has been hijacked or compromised to commit fraud or theft, take action immediately!  Keep a record of your conversations and correspondence.

Traffic Stop Leads to Discovery of Drugs

Officers pulled over a green Dodge Ram pick-up truck for a couple of traffic violations.  The driver could be seen attempting to hide something in the rear cab of the truck.  Christopher A. Garcia (04/26/86) was visibly shaking when Officers contacted him.  Garcia had two young passengers sitting in the cab area of the truck, a nine-year-old boy and a 3-year-old little girl.  In the rear floorboard, Officers could see a Marijuana cigarette.   

Garcia was arrested and during the impound inventory, a box containing several more Marijuana cigarettes and Crack Cocaine was found.  Garcia was booked at the City Detention Center and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Marijuana.  The Possession of Controlled Substance is a 3rd Degree Felony and punishable by up to 10 years in prison and up to a $10,000 fine.  The Marijuana Possession is a Class “B” Misdemeanor and is punishable by up to 180 days in jail and a $2,000 fine or both. 

The two children were released to a family member.  A copy of the report will be forwarded to Child Protective Services.

Unwanted Vacation Excitement

A vacationing San Antonio Police Officer and his family staying at the Holiday Inn on Padre Island had their holiday marred by a burglar.  The officer and his 10-year-old daughter were in the hotel’s lobby using the guest computer when his daughter told him a woman was walking away with her mother’s purse.  At the same time, the Officer’s wife came into the lobby and told him their room had been burglarized. 

The Officer gave chase and was able to stop the woman and get back their stolen items.  As he was escorting the suspect Banna Roberts (04/06/71) back to the hotel, her family became verbally confrontational with the victim and Roberts was able to slip away.  As Officers were conducting their investigation, hotel patrons told Officers the suspect was walking along the Seawall, approximately 75 yards away. 

Roberts was returned to the hotel and positively identified. Once arrested and told she was going to jail, Roberts claimed shortness of breath and other medical ailments.   CCFD Emergency Personnel were called to check on her welfare.  When Medics cleared her, Roberts claimed heart trouble and taken to Bay Area Hospital where she was medically cleared by hospital staff. 

Roberts was booked at the City Detention Center and charged with Burglary of a Habitation, a Second Degree Felony punishable by up to 20 years  in prison and up to a $10,000 fine.  The stolen purse and camera valued at $850. were returned to the victim.

32-Year-Old Man Attacked and Run Over at Local Bar

Occurred on 6/21/12, 1:55 a.m.  Aggravated Assault   2215 Ayers 1206210015 

Police were called to Diana’s Place Bar for a fight involving three men.  Upon their arrival Officers observed a 32-year-old Hispanic male laying on the ground bleeding heavily from his upper arm.  The Officer retrieved his emergency equipment and was able to slow the bleeding.  CCFD Emergency Personnel arrived and the victim was taken to Spohn Memorial for medical treatment. 

Further investigation revealed the victim was assaulted by two men who punched and kicked him until he was knocked to the ground.  The men entered their sports utility vehicle and drove over the victim as they fled.    The victim was uncooperative with Officers refusing to provide them with any information. 

The suspects are described as two stocky and heavily tattooed Hispanic males, 5’7” to 5’9” feet tall. One man had a shaved head, while the other had a close fade haircut.  They were both last seen fleeing in a dark-colored GMC Yukon or Denali.

Copper Stolen from AEP Yard

An AEP Substation at 3701 Callicoate Road was the victim of a theft over the weekend.  AEP personnel reported someone entered the AEP yard by cutting the gate’s chain leading to the power transmission area.  Once inside, the thief or thieves stole 50 feet of heavy gauge copper wire.  The theft and damage is estimated over $2000.
