Corpus Christ Police Detectives are asking the public’s assistance to help identify  a man who touched a ten-year-old’s backside as she stood in line to pay for a purchase.

The visibly frightened child can be seen turning around to see who touched her.  An unidentified customer stands between the child and the suspect in a protective manner causing the suspect to walk out of the store.

Corpus Christi Property Crimes Detectives are asking the public’s assistance to help identify the suspect involved in the theft of a wallet.  The victim can be seen on surveillance video as he looks for his missing wallet which had fallen out of his  short pocket.

The suspect picks up the wallet, but fails to turn it over to store personnel and leaves the store with it.  The woman is seen arriving and leaving the Kinko’s in a green SUV.  She was accompanied by another woman and a young child.  You can also view surveillance video at our CorpusChristiPD YouTube account at http://youtu.be/YhLYNBAbsQE.

Corpus Christi Property Crimes Detectives are asking the public’s assistance to help identify the suspect involved in the theft of a bank enveloped filled with an undetermined amount of cash.  The monies were to be used to take the victim’s four-old son to the San Antonio Zoo for his birthday.

The victim can been seen paying for his purchases and leave his bank envelope behind.  The suspect can be seen on surveillance video as he throws his wallet down to hide the envelope.  The suspect pays for his purchase and takes the bank envelope with him.

Corpus Christi Police are asking the public’s assistance to help identify a man who approached a young girl as she waited for the school bus. The man can be seen on video surveillance as he contacts the 12-year-old girl. 

The suspect is described as a White man with a long beard and last seen wearing a teal shirt and a cap. Police say he was driving a dark sports utility vehicle which was missing a wheel cover.

Red Ribbon Kick-Off to be held at King High School

The Corpus Christi Police Department’s Red Ribbon Week campaign committee cordially invites you to attend a Red Ribbon Week kick-off ceremony to be held on at on Wednesday, October 23, 2013 beginning at 9:00am.   Mayor Nelda Martinez and Chief Floyd Simpson will join the Honorable Judge Brent Chesney who will be Guest Speaker at the kick-off event.

Red Ribbon Week was established in 1988 to honor fallen officer, Enrique “Kiki” Camarena, a Drug Enforcement Administration Agent who was killed in the line of duty while working undercover in Mexico. Camarena served in the United States Marine Corps and also worked at firefighter and police investigator prior to joining the DEA. 

This year marks the 28th anniversary of his death. The annual campaign brings attention to the effects of drug abuse, including illegal drugs, alcohol and prescription drugs, and the importance of drug abuse prevention.

The Corpus Christi Police Department, the United States Custom and Border Protection, the Texas Department of Public Safety Aircraft Operations Division, and the Nueces County Sheriff’s Department will visit schools throughout the month of October to educate and organize students to create a drug free environment.  The Police Department’s Enduros, Dive Team, Traffic & Safety Division Motors, Mounted Patrol, McGruff, and the Mobile Museum will be utilized throughout Red Ribbon Week.

Please join us as we celebrate this continued partnership between the community and law enforcement.

CCACS, PAAC, and Chubby’s Mattress Team Up for Adoption Event

Publication1Corpus Christi Animal Care Services and our adoption partner, People Assisting Animal Control (PAAC), have teamed up with Chubby’s Mattress for their 2nd annual adoption event.

On October 19, 2013, from 11:00am to 1:00pm, and in Honor of Chubby’s birthday, an adoption event will be held at 5717 South Padre Island Drive.

Chubby’s will be giving away door prizes including pet bowls, gift baskets, and mattress sets.

Chubby’s has graciously sponsored all adoption fees for the month of October. All animals will be vaccinated, micro chipped, spay/neutered, and have city license.

Adoption applications will be on hand and will be approved by PAAC.  To pre-approve for an adoption, please complete the application online at http://ccpaac.org/forms/.

Chief Simpson Swears in Two Newest Reserve Officers

Two new Police Reserves were sworn in by Corpus Christi Police Chief Floyd Simpson as family, friends, and Officers looked on.  Chief Simpson administered the Oath of Office to Chris Hernandez and Richard Hinojosa and welcomed them to the Corpus Christi Police Department’s family.

Both men have prior law enforcement  as Reserve Officer Hernandez was employed as a Trooper with the Texas Department of Public Safety and Reserve Officer Hinojosa is currently employed by Nueces County Sheriff’s Department.   The swearing-in ceremony has been uploaded to the Police Department’s You Tube account at http://youtu.be/QMi1IAnYInA.

Reserve Police Officers are state licensed law enforcement officers who serve at the discretion of the Chief of Police. They are empowered with the same authority as our full-time officers. Members of the Corpus Christi Police Reserves Organization assist the regular sworn officers of the department in the enforcement of laws and maintenance of the peace. Reserve Officers are also called upon to assist at special events or during emergencies. Reserve officers volunteer their time without financial compensation. Uniforms and equipment are provided by the department.

CCPD To Host Second Annual Retiree Picnic

The Corpus Christi Police Department will be hosting its Second Annual CCPD Picnic in honor of Retirees and employees of the Police Department on October  19, 2013, West Guth Park, beginning at  3pm.  If you are a retiree or police employee, bring your kids, grandkids, ice chest, blanket, and chairs.

We will be serving hamburgers and hot dogs, chips, and drinks.  A Bouncy House for the Kids and lots more!

Corpus Christi Auto Theft Task Force Detectives are asking the public’s assistance to help identify the suspect responsible for burglarizing the victim’s vehicle while she paid for gas at a local convenience store.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, 25 to 30 years of age, 5’9″ to 6″ feet tall, 160 to 180 lbs.  He was last seen wearing a white muscle tee-shirt and leaving in an older model two-toned extended cab pick up truck.

Police were called to “La Michoacana Market” on Ayers for a possible robbery.  Upon their arrival, Officers were told a man and a woman was seen shoplifting some meat.  When the employees confronted the couple, the man punched an employee in the eye.

The couple was able to escape, but the employees were able to recover the stolen meat.  The female

The man is described as a Hispanic male, 25 to 35 years of age, standing 5’5” to 5’8” feet tall and weighing 140 to 170 lbs.

The female is described as a Hispanic woman, 20 to 30 years of age, standing 5’1” to 5’4” feet tall, and weighing 130 to 160 lbs.

Police were called to a residence on Hewitt Drive for a man knocking on doors asking for help.  Police contacted a 19-year-old man who told them he’d been assaulted in the alleyway behind one of the homes.  The young man had arranged to meet a couple of individuals he’d met while at the beach and buy some drugs from them. 

The victim met with the men and was robbed at gunpoint.  He was struck in the face with a firearm and sustained an injury to his face, head, and knees.  He was taken to Spohn Memorial for medical treatment. 

The suspects are described as only 19 to 21 years of age and standing 5’7” to 5’9” feet tall with one of the men being of Hispanic ethnicity.  They fled in a small gold four-door sedan, taking an undetermined amount of money.

An Officer observed a disturbance at Brewster’s in which a motorcyclist was trying to start trouble with an employee.  As the Officer attempted to speak with the motorcyclist, he jumped on his motorcycle and fled.  A B.O.L.O. (Be On the Look Out) of the suspect was issued and Officers working the downtown area pulled over the suspect at People’s and Shoreline.

Joshua Peaz (05/01/88) was arrested and charged with Evading Arrest with a Vehicle and an outstanding warrant out of Bexar County for Larceny.  There was No Bond on the warrant.
