Narcotics/Vice Investigators Serve Search Warrant on Elgin Street

Narcotics Investigators with the assistance of the SWAT team executed a search warrant at 1219 Elgin Street on August 8, 2014.  Officers recovered 4.56 grams of crack cocaine, a small amount of powder cocaine, and some unidentified pills.  Officers also recovered a .22 calibre pistol.

The following five individuals were arrested for Manufacturing/Delivery of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group-1 (a second degree felony punishable by up to 20 years in prison and up to a $10,000 fine):

The charges for the pistol are pending further investigation.

 

Police Seize Drugs and Weapons on Teak Street

August 1, 2014, at 6:25am, the Corpus Christi Police Narcotics Investigators with the assistance of the SWAT team executed a search warrant at 4401 Teak.  The search resulted in the seizure if 30 weapons of various caliber firearms, 19 grams of crack cocaine, 5 grams of powder cocaine, and a vehicle.

Corpus Christi Police arrested 26-year-old Robert Garza (10/1/1987) and 25-year-old Mallaurie Lopez (6/8/1989). Both were charged with Man/Del C.S. PG-1 (2F) and processed at the city detention center.  Investigators are in the process of collaborating with ATF on further charges for the weapons.

The operation is the conclusion of an investigation brought about from citizen complaints in the area.

“Adam” District

Offense: Unlawful Possession of a Firearm By a Felon (Penal Code Section 46.04) 3rd Degree Felony

A Corpus Christi Police Officer conducted a traffic stop at the 4100 block of Greenwood Drive at 10:20pm Thursday night when she observed a gold 2006 Ford Fusion drive without the headlights illuminated. The Officer discovered the car was operated by a 31-year-old man and had a 16-year-old boy and a 15-year-old boy as passengers. The Officer discovered possible synthetic narcotics, a pistol and brass knuckles in the vehicle. The Officer arrested 31-year-old Jose Esquivel (5/17/1983) for unlawful possession of a firearm and for possession of a prohibited weapon (the brass knuckles). The Officer then took the 16-year-old and the 15-year-old boys into custody for unlawful carrying of a weapon and for possession of a prohibited weapon. The Officer impounded the car and delivered Esquivel to the city detention center. The Officer also delivered the two boys to the Nueces County Juvenile Detention Center. The possible synthetic narcotics were placed into evidence for testing.

Corpus Christi Police arrested a 19-year-old woman for driving while intoxicated after she crashed her car into a pole in front of a seafood restaurant located at 5825 South Padre Island Drive Friday morning. Corpus Christi Police responded to a single vehicle crash at 12:36am and found a silver 2004 Honda Accord had left the road and struck a pole which held a sign to the restaurant. The Officer discovered evidence that 19-year-old Hannah Cieslik (8/5/1994) was intoxicated when drove the vehicle at the time of the crash. The Officer arrested Cieslik for Driving While Intoxicated and impounded the car. The Officer took Cieslik to the hospital for a medical evaluation and then delivered her to the city detention center.

A 16-year-old girl reported a robbery at a restaurant located at 1610 South Padre Island Drive to the Corpus Christi Police Thursday night. The 16-year-old girl explained to Officers that she worked the drive through window when a man in a car handed the 16-year-old girl a note through the window. The 16-year-old girl told Officers the note demanded all the cash in the register. The 16-year-old girl told Officers she immediately left the window area to flee any type of attack. The 16-year-old girl told Officers the man left without getting any money. Officers took the note for examination and continue to search for the suspect in this case. The 16-year-old girl described the suspect as an 18-year-old bald male with medium brown skin.

A 22-year-old man reported an aggravated robbery at Carroll Lane at Cresthill Drive to Corpus Christi Police Thursday night. The 22-year-old man told Officers he ran south on Carroll Lane and passed a man who asked for the time. The 22-year-old man told Officers he, the 22-year-old man, pulled out his phone to check the time and the other man grabbed the phone in an attempt to steal the phone. The 22-year-old man told Officers he struggled with the unknown man for the phone and the unknown man displayed a knife and stabbed the 22-year-old man in the leg. The 22-year-old man told Officers the unknown man ran away without gaining anything of value. Officers continue to search for the unknown man. The 22-year-old man described the suspect as a male with medium brown colored skin, with a shaved head, mustache, and a tattoo on the left side of his face near the eye.

Police Assist U.S. Marshal’s Office to Apprehend Fugitive

The Corpus Christi Police Department assisted the United States Marshal’s Service to apprehend a fugitive on the 5000 block of Alameda Street Thursday morning. The U.S. Marshal’s Gulf Coast Fugitive and Violent Offenders Task Force saw 36-year-old John Douglas Houston (2/15/1978) in a vehicle at 10:28am and knew Houston was a fugitive and likely to evade arrest. The Marshal’s requested assistance from the Corpus Christi Police Department. Houston stopped the vehicle and ran from the vehicle on foot. A passenger also ran from the vehicle in another direction. Houston was captured and the Marshal’s Service processed Houston as a fugitive. The second person who ran was not apprehended. Houston was delivered to the city detention center.

City Hosts Vehicle Auction This Saturday

The city of Corpus Christi will auction 105 cars, trucks, and motorcycles at the four paved acres of the Corpus Christi Police Vehicle Impound Lot located at 5485 Greenwood Drive on Saturday, August 2, 2014 at 10:00am. The general public is encouraged to register and view the vehicles for auction from 8:00am to 4:00pm on Friday, August 1. The general public can continue to register and view the vehicles from 8:00am to 10:00am on the day of the auction. The vehicle for auction may be viewed online and an auction list may be downloaded from www.siskauction.com.

There are 37 vehicles for auction that were seized for no insurance. The department’s strong stand and enforcement of this “Zero Tolerance No Insurance Initiative” will continue and all vehicles involved in accidents will be impounded and the driver cited if they are unable to provide financial proof of insurance. Driver’s license and proof of financial responsibility checkpoints will continue to be conducted at the Shift Captains’ authorization.

Task Force Captures Fugitive For Attempted Homicide From Illinois

The Gulf Coast Fugitive and Violent Offenders Task Force arrested 22 Jorden Johnson (6/29/1992) on the 3600 block of Rojo Street Wednesday for an Illinois warrant for his arrest for an attempted homicide. The Officers approached Johnson and Johnson ran from the Officers. The Officers captured Johnson and delivered him to the city detention center for a parole warrant out of Illinois for aggravated battery, the warrant for his arrest for attempted homicide, and for evading arrest.

Local Physicians Complain About Attempted Scam

The Corpus Christi Police Department received four complaints from four separate physicians Wednesday about calls from an unknown person who claimed to be involved in a drug cartel and held a family member of the physician captive and demanded a ransom. In each case, the physicians learned their family members were not held captive and the call was determined to be a scam. The Corpus Christi Police Department encourages anyone who receives such a call to contact the Police immediately at 886-2600 to report the information. The Corpus Christi Police Department has not received any valid information about any abduction or injuries in exchange for a ransom.

Skinny Dipping for Lunch is Not Allowed No Matter How Hot it is Outside

Corpus Christi Police arrested 34-year-old Frank Hernandez (8/31/1979) for Indecent Exposure after he was found swimming naked in a pool of the Seville Apartments at lunch time Tuesday.

Corpus Christi Police responded to the complaint of a man skinny dipping and the Officers found Hernandez at the pool. Several apartment residents told Officers they were offended when they saw Hernandez nude and in full view of adults and children. Officers discovered Hernandez was not a resident of the Apartment complex issued him a criminal trespass warning as well. Officers then arrested Hernandez for indecent exposure and delivered him to the city detention center.

Police Release Images of ATM Theft Suspects

Corpus Christi Police Property Crimes Detectives released images of two men believed to be responsible for an unauthorized use of a boat and for a theft of an automated teller machine.

Corpus Christi Police Officers were dispatched to a business located 3900 block of Laguna Shores Rd. for a theft of an ATM from inside of a business located on a fishing pier. A 62-year-old male reported that when he arrived at work he observed two males on a boat near his business. When he observed that the front door to the marina was open, he walked inside and observed that the ATM was missing and he also noticed that the lock on the front door was missing. When he walked back outside the two males on the boat attempted to flee the scene but the boat bottomed out in the shallow water. The suspects were able to regain control of the boat and left toward marker 37. The boat was later determined to be stolen from a home located on a canal in the same area.

Police Execute Search Warrant on Sabinas Street

On July 11, 2014 at abut 5:33 p.m., The Corpus Christi Police Narcotics/Vice Investigations Division, with the assistance of the Corpus Christi Police Gang Unit, executed a search warrant at 2833 Sabinas. The investigation centered on Henry Velasquez 07/08/85. Velasquez was present with Pedro Cibrian 09/30/87, Johnny Siller 03/30/78, Ralph Villela 09/03/89, Irene Ingram 03/15/84 and two children when the search warrant was executed. As officers entered the house all of the above mentioned subjects were detained without incident.
While searching the residence officers located a large amount of crack which had just been cooked up. The search netted a seizure of 7.57oz of crack valued at approximately $6,750, $2,668 in currency, a scale, several cell phones and five vehicles.
All of the above mentioned subjects were arrested and charged with Manufacture of a Controlled Substance and Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity.
The children were released to their grandmother.
