Employees of a business reported to Corpus Christi Police that the back door of the building was found open and contents inside the building were missing. The employees said the unpermitted entry and the theft happened sometime over the weekend.

A 24-year-old man told Corpus Christi Police he rented a truck and was approached by two black men in a white Pontiac Grand Am behind the convenience store at 1217 Nile Drive. One of the men demanded the keys, wallet, and cell phone from the 24-year-old man. No arrests have been made.

Corpus Christi Police responded to a fight call which originated over a disturbance over a dog. A 22-year-old man placed an advertisement on an internet site searching for a lost dog. A 39-year-old man contacted the 22-year-old man and claimed to have found the lost dog and requested money for information to find the lost dog. The 22-year-old man claimed the 39-year-old man was operating a scam and the two men got into a fight.

Both men were issued citations for fighting in public.

An 18-year-old man told police he left a friend’s house after playing video games and was attacked by three men he knows. The three men took money from the 18-year-old man. The 18-year-old man identified his attackers to police, but no arrest has yet been made. The 18-year-old man was treated for minor injuries.

A 59-year-old man told police he sat on his porch drinking coffee when two black men walked up the driveway to his porch. The 59-year-old man said one of the men put a knife to his throat and demanded money. The other man punched the 59-year-old man, took his wallet and the two men ran from the scene.

A 58-year-old man was robbed Monday morning at 4830 Everhart Road. Corpus Christi Police responded to a call about the robbery at 10:11am in which a 58-year-old man exited a store and was approached by a man who demanded cash. The suspect hit the 58-year-old man and then took  money from the 58-year-old man. The suspect then got into a red Chevy Tahoe and was last seen traveling north on Everhart.

The victim refused medical treatment and Police are now searching for a white man who is about 5 feet 6 inches tall, with a medium build and wore a white t-shirt and a tan ball cap.

Police Investigate Sunday Night Assault

Corpus Christi Police are investigating an assault in which a 42-year-old man was stabbed on the 2400 block of Mary Street Sunday night.

A 26-year-old woman told Corpus Christi Police Officers a 42-year-old man she did not know laid on her back porch located at the 600 block of 22nd Street with some obvious injuries. Police Officers found the 42-year-old man and had the man transported to the hospital by ambulance for treatment.

The Police Officers followed a trail of blood to the 2400 block of Mary Street and located several witnesses to the assault.

Corpus Christi Police are now looking for at least two Hispanic men who wore white “Muscle shirts” believed to be responsible for the assault and no arrests have been made.

Police Seek S.U.V. In Hit & Run Crash

The Corpus Christi Police Traffic Safety Section would like help from the public to identify and locate the person responsible for a hit and run crash on the 3200 block of Ocean Drive at 3:20pm on Saturday, July 20, 2013.

A 34-year-old man jogged in the bicycle lane on the 3200 block of Ocean Drive near Hewit Drive when he was hit by a vehicle and injured. The vehicle left without providing any information or aid to the 34-year-old man as required by law. The man was taken by ambulance to the hospital.

Crash Investigators are now searching for a light-colored, possibly white, Sport Utility Vehicle with damage to the right side of the windshield on the passenger side of the vehicle.

Man Crashes Into Oso Bay And Does Not Survive

A 57-year-old man did not survive a single vehicle crash into Oso Bay Sunday morning.

Corpus Christi Police responded to a single vehicle crash at 2:31am Sunday morning at the 8800 block of South Padre Island Drive in which the vehicle drove into the water. Several Corpus Christi Police Officers entered the water to recover the 57-year-old man from inside the vehicle. No other person was in the vehicle and the 57-year-old man was taken to the hospital by ambulance where the man later died. The Corpus Christi Police Dive Team responded to the scene to get the vehicle out of the water and have it taken to the city impound lot.

The Corpus Christi Police Traffic Safety Section is investigating the crash in which a tan 1999 Saturn 2 door car drove east on the access road toward Flour Bluff, drove over traffic warning signs, then went into the water. The cause of death will be investigated and determined by the Nueces County Medical Examiner’s Office. Investigators have spoken to at least one witness to the crash but would like anyone who has any additional information about the crash to contact the Corpus Christi Police Traffic Safety Section at 886-2600.

The Corpus Christi Police Auto Theft Task Force would like help from the public to identify and locate two men responsible for a burglary to a motor vehicle that happened at 2833 South Padre Island Drive on June 7, 2013.

A man reported to the Corpus Christi Police that someone broke the passenger rear door window to his silver 2007 Chevy Avalanche and took his radio. The man explained that he went out of the store at about 4:20pm on June 7, 2013 and walked to his vehicle and discovered his door window broken and his radio on the ground. The man said there were two men who stood next to the vehicle. The man said he confronted the two men and the two men walked away.

Police Investigators now have video surveillance images of the two men who may have caused the damage to the vehicle.

One man is described as a Hispanic male about 20 years of age who wore a blue polo shirt, blue and white plaid shorts, white socks and black shoes. The second man is described as a black male about 20 years of age who wore a green shirt with short striped sleeves, green athletic shorts, and black shoes.

Corpus Christi Animal Care Services Has New Program Manager

The Corpus Christi Animal Care Services has a new program manager, Heather Hedrick.

Mrs. Hedrick completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice and a Master’s of Business Administration. She holds a Master Peace Officer license from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education and is a certified High School Teacher from the State Board of Education.

Mrs. Hedrick taught Criminal Justice and Firefighting in public schools for the past four years. Mrs. Hedrick was the Animal Services Director for the city of Coppell in Dallas County prior to her teaching.

Mrs. Hedrick chose to move to Corpus Christi after her husband retired from firefighting. Mrs. Hedrick said she couldn’t sit still and she felt compelled to do something constructive. Mrs. Hedrick was attentive to the Animal Care Services because of her passion for animals and applied to be the program manager once the position became available.

Mrs. Hedrick brings her experience to accomplish several goals for the Animal Care Services in Corpus Christi. Mrs. Hedrick said she wants the Animal Care Facility to be a pleasant place for the public. “I want everyone to see this place, not as a pound or someplace negative,” Hedrick explained, “this is a positive place to rescue animals.”

Mrs. Hedrick provided a list of goals for the Animal Care Services staff, for volunteers, and for the building maintenance. Police Investigate Homicide

Corpus Christi Police Detectives are investigating a homicide on the 4000 block of Lamont Street which occurred at 8:12pm Thursday night.

Corpus Christi Police Officers responded to the 4000 block of Lamont Street for a report of a possible shooting. Officers found a male laid near the sidewalk who was not conscious and not breathing. A Corpus Christi Police Officer and witnesses performed cardio pulmonary resuscitation until paramedics from the Corpus Christi Fire Department arrived; but, the person was not revived.

Corpus Christi Police Officers investigated the death as suspicious and were provided information by witnesses and evidence which led them to apprehend a person responsible for the death. A juvenile male was taken into custody and charged with murder and Detectives believe there are no other suspects in this case. The juvenile was delivered to the Nueces County Juvenile Detention Center.

Police Seek Robbery Suspect

The Corpus Christi Police Robbery/Homicide Detectives would like help from the public to locate a man who robbed a convenience store Friday morning.

No person was injured in the event but the store employee reported to the Corpus Christi Police that a man entered the store at 3:15am, displayed a handgun, and demanded cash. The man ran from the store on Doddridge toward Alameda. The man was described as a black male about 25 years in age that stood about 5 feet 6 inches tall and about 190 pounds.
