Man Crashes Truck into Garage

A 45-year-old man caused damage to a garage after a single vehicle crash which started on the 11,000 block of Interstate Highway 37 Wednesday morning.

The 45-year-old man was treated at the scene for minor injuries and released. The man drove a yellow 2008 Dodge pickup in the center lane west on the 11,000 block of Interstate Highway 37 at a little after 9am. The posted speed limit for that portion of the roadway is 75 miles per hour. The pickup abruptly changed direction and travelled over the grass and then struck the garage to a house on the 4600 block of Old Nueces Town Road.

No injuries were reported other than the minor injuries the operator sustained. There were no other occupants in the vehicle. The 45-year-old man was issued a citation for unsafe speed. The truck was towed due to the damage. The initial estimated damage to the garage was $20,000 dollars.

While handling a disturbance at a Little League game Officers contacted Raymond Delacerda (12-1-67). He was found to be intoxicated and insisted on driving home. Despite warnings by officers, he refused to let his wife have the keys.  He was arrested for Public Intoxication and found to be in possession of synthetic marijuana as well.

An officer stopped driver David Posival (1-13-50) and a 47-year-old woman after observing Posival commit a traffic violation.  At the feet of Posival was a clear plastic container that had a quantity of methamphetamine in it.  He was arrested. The 47-year-old woman was released and the vehicle was impounded.

An Officer worked a DWI on Robert Sheely (7-20-87) after he rear-ended another pickup truck while westbound on the JFK.  The other truck was doing about 60 MPH when it was hit by Sheely hard enough to spin both vehicles and cause them to go into the outer wall.  The driver of the 2nd vehicle was transported to the hospital. Sheely reported no injuries.  He was arrested for DWI.

Police units responded to SH 358 (SPID) for a vehicle rollover accident with possible ejected driver. The 18 year old woman driver traveled on SH 358 EB when a mattress pad flew out of a pick up. The woman swerved to avoid hitting the mattress and struck the barrier causing the vehicle to flip and land on its top. The driver was not ejected. She was transported to Spohn Memorial Hospital.

Man Shoots Gun In Home With Child Nearby

A 48-year-old man was arrested Tuesday afternoon after he discharged a firearm in his home at a person while a 2 month old child was in the house.

A 43-year-old man came to the house of 48-year-old Brett Noel (12/28/1964) to get a vehicle which was left overnight. The 43-year-old man discovered the vehicle was gone and the 43-year-old man demanded the vehicle to be returned. Noel then displayed a firearm and pointed in the direction of the 43-year-old man. Noel discharged the firearm and missed the 43-year-old man.

No person was injured in the event.

Corpus Christi Police Officers arrived and met the involved people outside the home. Officers entered the home to insure there were no injured persons, and then gathered the information about the event. Several people were inside the home at the time of the firearm discharge including a 26-year-old woman and her 2 month old child.

Noel was arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a second degree felony punishable by up to 20 years in prison and up to a $10,000 fine.

Man Steals Car From Dealership

The Corpus Christi Police Department is looking for a black 2013 Cadillac CTSV that was taken from a dealership located at 6650 South Padre Island Drive at 10:30 Tuesday morning.

Employees of the dealership reported to police that a man went into the dealership, got the keys to the car, and drove away without any permission to take the car. The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, about 30 years of age, about 5 feet 11 inches tall, 250 pounds, with short hair and he wore a black shirt and black shorts.

Corpus Christi Police used a vehicle tracking system in cooperation with the dealership to locate the vehicle on Padre Island at 11:27am. Corpus Christi Police arrested 31-year-old Reagan Vines (08/26/1981) for Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle and the Cadillac was returned to the dealership.

Police Announce Click It or Ticket Results

The Corpus Christi Police Department has the results from the Click It or Ticket campaign for 2013.

Officers from the Corpus Christi Police Department worked 398 overtime hours from May 17 until June 2. The Texas Department of Transportation provided the funding for the $18,494 to pay the overtime for the officers who participated in the Click It or Ticket state campaign.

Corpus Christi Police Officers issued 638 citations for adults not buckled up in the front or back seats of moving vehicles. Officers issued 57 citations for unrestrained children younger than two years old and not in a child safety seat. There were 142 other citations issued for violations such as no insurance, expired registration or expired inspection. Five individuals were arrested, all of whom had outstanding warrants for their arrest.

The Corpus Christi Police Department issued more tickets last year during the Click It or Ticket campaign. The Department hopes that is an indication of voluntary compliance to the seat belt requirement. The Corpus Christi Police Department wants everyone to get to their destination safely and wants everyone to buckle up no matter how short the distance they travel.

Detectives Announce Updated Information About Homicide

The Corpus Christi Police Department Robbery/Homicide Detectives worked through the weekend on the Homicide case that happened at 6241 Saratoga Boulevard on June 1, 2013 and have made developments in the case.

A 25 year old man was assaulted in a parking lot  at 6241 Saratoga Boulevard and was taken to Spohn South Hospital where he died from his injuries Saturday morning. Witnesses provided information to detectives to identify several individuals and a vehicle involved in the event. The vehicle has been impounded and Detectives continue to investigate and gather information about this case. Detectives have reached out to local businesses to obtain any video of the event that may exist.

Detectives are still concerned that there may be witnesses who have not spoken to Investigators. Man Dies In Single Vehicle Crash

A 31-year-old man died in a single vehicle crash Saturday morning in Flour Bluff.

The Corpus Christi Police responded to a vehicle crash at the 9300 block of South Padre Island Drive at 2:25 in the morning on June 1, 2013. A 2002 Chevy Tahoe struck a utility pole and was on its side when Police Officers arrived.

A 31-year-old driver did not survive the crash. Two other passengers, ages 32 and 33, were taken to the hospital with what are believed to be non life threatening injuries. No other persons or vehicles were involved in the crash.

Corpus Christi Police Crash Investigators said there was no initial indication that alcohol was a factor in the crash. Crash Investigators continue to gather information about this event to determine the sequence of events. Police Search for Murder Suspect

A 25-year-old man was killed in a parking lot after a confrontation about a door ding Saturday morning.

Corpus Christi Police responded to an assault call at 6241 Saratoga Boulevard at 2:25am. A 25-year-old man was taken to the hospital by ambulance, but died from his injuries.

The 25-year-old man struck a nearby vehicle with his door while he got out of his car. A man in the vehicle confronted the 25-year-old man and assaulted the 25-year-old man. The 25-year-old man fell to the ground and then police were called.

Corpus Christi Police Detectives responded to investigate this event as a homicide. Police are now searching for the man responsible for the 25-year-old man’s death.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, about 6 foot 1 inches tall, 220 pounds, and wore a white shirt and baggy blue jeans. The suspect drove a white sport utility vehicle with two other men.

Auto Theft Task Force Seeks To Identify Two Men

The Corpus Christi Police Auto Theft Task Force would like help from the public to identify and locate two men responsible for felony theft that happened on May 18, at the 100 block of Villa Drive.

The Corpus Christi Police were called to investigate a theft in which several welding machines on trailers valued at $54,000 dollars were stolen on May 18, 2013 from a fenced area on the 100 block of Villa Drive. The suspects cut a hole in the fence to access the trailers. The trailers were later recovered at Airport Road and Lou Street.

Corpus Christi Police Auto Theft Task Force Detectives have obtained images of the two men responsible for the theft. The two men used a Dodge Sport Utility Vehicle in order to pull the trailers. One suspect is described as a white male about 5 foot 10 inches tall, with short brown hair and he wore a blue cap, blue long sleeve Old Navy shirt, with blue jeans and white shoes.

The other suspect is described as a white male about 6 feet tall, gray hair, and wore a blue cap, black short sleeve T-shirt, blue jeans, and brown shoes.

Police Investigate Illegal Dumping

The Nueces County Constables Office Environmental Enforcement Division would like help from the public to identify and locate the persons responsible for illegal dumping on County Road 55A on May 8, 2013.

Two couches and four mattresses were dumped from a white truck on May 8, 2013 at about 8:53am. Investigators viewed a home video of the area. A school bus picked up a child from a nearby home at 7:00am and no other vehicle drove in the area until the truck arrived.

County Road 55A is located off Old Brownsville Road near the Memory Gardens Cemetery.
