The Corpus Christi Police Department wants to inform citizens about auto burglaries occurring in the city and victims having their firearms stolen from inside their vehicle.

In  2015, the police department investigated 184 reports of burglaries that involved a firearm being stolen from inside of a vehicle.  Only 45 of those stolen guns have been recovered.

So far this year, through the month of March,  42 firearms have been stolen and only 8 of those have been recovered.

The Corpus Christi Police Department respects the right to own and carry a gun,  but we want to warn citizens that these types of crimes are occurring in our city and remind them to protect their firearms and keep them out of the hands of criminals.
