Offense: Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon (PC 22.02 Second Degree Felony)

Case Number: 1406230136

Corpus Christi Police Officers responded to a call about a male hitting a female in the parking lot of a business located in the 600 block of S. Padre Island Drive. When officers arrived they found a 27 year old female being treated by CCFD EMS for serious injuries to her head and face. The victim stated that she was sitting in her vehicle in the drive thru line that circled around to the side of the business. The suspect was parked in a space that was being blocked by the victim’s car. The victim told officers that she saw the suspect get out of his truck and approach her vehicle and he began yelling about his truck being blocked in. He also began to bang on her vehicle window with his fist. When the victim exited her car she was punched in the face by the suspect. Robert Thomas (03/03/1957) was placed under arrest for aggravated assault, a second degree felony, his truck was impounded and the victim was transported to the hospital by CCFD EMS.

Offense: Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon (PC 22.02 Second Degree Felony)

Corpus Christi Police Officers received a call from a 17 year old female who was in a car traveling west on the freeway with some friends and they were being followed by her father who was threatening to kill her. Officers were able to intercept both vehicles on State Highway 358 near the Flour Bluff Drive exit. Officers contacted David Gonzalez (07/02/1968) who said that his daughter was in the car and that he was trying to get her and take her home. The suspect was found to have an active outstanding warrant and a suspended drivers license. Officers then contacted the driver and occupants of the other vehicle who said that they were confronted by the suspect while they were at a store on Padre Island. He made threats to kill them and they drove off because they were scared. While trying to get away from the suspect he attempted to drive his car into theirs and force them off the road. The suspect was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, a second degree felony and making terroristic threats of family violence, a class B misdemeanor. Additionally he was charged with driving with a suspended driver’s license, a class C misdemeanor and the outstanding arrest warrant.

Offense: Assault on a Public Servant (PC 22.01 Third Degree Felony)

Corpus Christi Police Officers were dispatched to the 4800 block of Cheryl Drive for a suspicious vehicle driving up and down the street with a flat tire. Officers arrived and found the 2006 Toyota 4 door car being operated by Justin Weddle (08/28/1978). Upon contact the officers found him to be intoxicated. When officers retrieved the suspect’s wallet to get his drivers license, they found it contained marijuana. The suspect was arrested and while being transported to the hospital in order for the officers to get a search warrant for a blood draw he spat several times at and on an officer. He also physically resisted several officers attempts to allow the blood search warrant to be executed. The suspect was charged with assault on a public servant, a third degree felony for spitting on the officer, resisting arrest and search, a class A misdemeanor, and possession of marijuana, as well as driving while intoxicated, both class B misdemeanors.

Offense: Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon (PC 22.02 Second Degree Felony)

Corpus Christi Police Officers responded to a home located in the 500 block of Clifford Street for a stabbing and contacted a 50 year old male victim who told them that he owns a business and that he sold the suspect, Johnny Heath (10/15/1977), two wind turbine generators two months ago. The victim further stated that since he sold the listed items, he had not received any payment from the suspect for the generators and he was there to retrieve the property. The victim said that the suspect allowed him into the home, but when they walked into the kitchen area, the suspect grabbed a steak knife from the counter and started stabbing the victim. The victim was able to run back outside for help and suffered only minor scratches and cuts. Officers located the suspect and he was taken into custody without incident and transported to the City Detention Center and charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, a second degree felony.

A Corpus Christi Police Officer checking Palmetto Park in the 5400 block of Ocean Drive saw a 2001 white Suzuki car in the parking lot, violating the park curfew hours of 2:00 AM until 6:00 AM. The officer contacted the driver, Debra Fergus (04/04/1960), and found her in possession of a quantity of narcotics and numerous items of drug paraphernalia. She was arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, a third degree felony. She was additionally charged with Possession of Marijuana, a Class B Misdemeanor, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and violation of Park Curfew, both Class C Misdemeanors

Offense: Robbery (PC 29.02 Second Degree Felony)

Corpus Christi Police Officers responded to an apartment complex located in the 5700 block of Curtiss Clark drive for a robbery. A 15 year old male victim told the officers that he was walking with a friend when they were approached by 4 or 5 male suspects. The victim was assaulted and his I-Pad was stolen. Witnesses reported that they saw one of the suspects, Robert Gutierrez (07/27/1996), go into one of the apartments. Officers obtained consent to go inside the apartment and while they were inside they noticed a hole in the ceiling leading to the attic that had fresh plaster on the floor below it. A ladder truck from CCFD responded to assist and the officers were able to locate the male suspect hiding in the corner in the attic space. He was arrested for the robbery, a second degree felony. Officers are working to identify the other suspects involved in this case.

Offense: Driving While Intoxicated with a Child Passenger (PC 49.045 State Jail Felony)

Corpus Christi Police Officers patrolling in the 4300 block of Holly Road observed a silver Nissan Altima sedan, swerving and unable to maintain a single lane of travel. They observed the vehicle go into another lane and almost strike another car. The officers stopped the vehicle and contacted the driver Heather Russell (02/23/1984) and also found Russell`s 6 year old daughter seated in the back seat. After an investigation, officers determined that the female driver was intoxicated and she was arrested and her vehicle was impounded. The child was released to her father.

Corpus Christi Police Officers responded to a business located in the 5100 block of Weber Road and contacted two male victims who told officers that an employee was causing a disturbance with other employees and customers at the business. When the 22 year old male suspect was confronted by one of the victims, who was the suspect’s supervisor, he directed his anger toward him and challenged his boss to a fight. The suspect produced a knife from his pants pocket and opened the blade pointing it at his boss. The suspect swung the opened blade several times before another employee was able to wrestle him to the ground. The suspect was able to get up and he lunged at both victims again with the opened blade coming within inches of cutting them. Both victims had to jump out of the way to avoid being struck by the blade. The suspect fled the scene on foot before officers arrived. Officers later found the suspect, Luis Gomez (12/22/1991), walking north on Weber Road still wearing his blue work t-shirt. He was taken into custody without incident and transported to the City Detention Center and charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, a second degree felony.

CCPD Looks For Purse Snatcher

DATE: May 23, 28 and June 8, 2014

The Corpus Christi Police Department Property Crimes Detectives are looking into three separate theft cases that involve purses being stolen over the past few days at the HEB Store located at 3133 South Alameda St. The reports show that female victims have placed their purses in the shopping cart and when they were looking at groceries, or distracted for a moment, the purse is taken. In one of the cases the offender was followed out of the store by an employee. The suspect ran west on Reid Drive behind the store, and then north on Hoffman Street where he ran through a backyard and jumped the fence. The suspect then was seen crossing S. Alameda St. and he ran onto the property of Incarnate Word Academy. The suspect is described as being between the ages of 18 and 24, standing 5’8 to 6’0’ tall, weighing 165 to 185 pounds with black hair. Images from cameras at the store show the suspects in these cases either walking into the store or walking out. CCPD Looking To Identify Man Who Stole A Safe

LOCATION: 4101 Interstate 69 Access Road South
OFFENSE: Burglary of a Building (PC 30.02 State Jail Felony)

Corpus Christi Police Officers responded to a burglary of a building at the Wing Stop Restaurant located in the Five Points Shopping Center. Officers found the front glass door of the business broken out and a rear door to be standing wide open. Suspects left the business with a safe containing money. Video cameras show a dark colored vehicle pulling up to the front of the building, a passenger exits and smashes out the front door. The suspect and jumps the counter and goes directly to the safe which he removes and takes to the rear of the building. He exits out the rear jumps back in the vehicle and leaves the scene. The suspect appears to be around 5`8″- 5`10″ 180-200 LBS with dark hair. The suspect vehicle appears to be an older model dark four door. Offense: Indecency With A Child (PC 21.11 Third Degree Felony)

Corpus Christi Police Officers responded to a business located in the 5800 block of South Padre Island Drive for a male exposing himself in the food court area of the business. Robert Baker (08/02/1962) was being detained by security officers when the police arrived. A 50 year old female had employees from a business call police and building security after he exposed himself in front of her and her 7 year old daughter while they ate in the food court area. Building security acted quickly, and detained the suspect after he began to try and leave. Officers arrived and arrested the suspect, and charged him with indecency with a child, a third degree felony, because he exposed himself knowing a child was present and was reckless about whether another person was present who would be alarmed or offended by his act. He was also charged with indecent exposure, a Class B misdemeanor for exposing himself to the adult female.

Employees at a business in the 6800 block of S. Padre Island Drive called police when a male passed out in a vehicle in the drive thru lane of the business. Officers arrived and observed a gray 2010 Dodge Charger in the drive thru at the order station. There were two other vehicles stopped behind the vehicle. Officers observed a male subject in the driver’s seat to be sleeping with the engine running. After knocking several times on the window, because the doors were locked, the man woke up and rolled down the window. Officers identified the male as Aral Mason (04/19/1985) and found him to be intoxicated and he was arrested. The suspect was additionally charged with Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon, a Class A Misdemeanor after a loaded handgun was found in his vehicle.

A 53 year old female was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated after she hit another vehicle from behind. Jamie Duncan (09/28/1960) was driving her 2013 Ford truck east along the access road of 5400 S. Padre Island Dr. when she failed to control her speed and struck a 2002 Nissan Xterra that was stopped for a red light at the intersection of S.P.I.D. East and S. Staples St. The male and female in the vehicle that was struck from behind were not injured in the crash, but the vehicle they were in had to be towed away because of the damage. The suspect’s vehicle was impounded by police, and the female suspect was arrest for Driving While Intoxicated, a Class B Misdemeanor.

Offense: Child Abandonment With Intent To Return (PC 22.041 State Jail Felony)

Officers were called out to the area of Elizabeth St. and Brownlee Blvd. to check the welfare of a female that was acting unusual. They located the female, Johna Rink (03/30/1988), who was crying and upset. After a few minutes, officers calmed her down and she told them that she was looking for her boyfriend. While talking to the female officers learned that her 4 month old daughter was alone in an apartment in the 1500 block of Fifteenth St. When officers arrived at the upstairs apartment to check the child’s welfare, they opened the door and they could feel the heat coming from inside and could hear a small child crying. Officers found the infant alone, sweating, wearing only a diaper, and left on a king size bed. Upon further investigation, it was found that the father had been gone most of the night, only returning when officers were doing their investigation. It was determined that the child had been left alone by the mother since early morning. The apartment was in disarray, with no food, and dirty and there was evidence of drug use in the apartment. Child Protective Services responded to the scene and the child was removed for her safety. The female suspect was also found to have in her possession four pills which require a prescription. She was arrested for abandoning a child with intent to return, a state jail felony, and possession of dangerous drug, a Class A Misdemeanor.

A 38 year old male store clerk called police after he was robbed by a male subject wearing a black hoodie jacket over his head, black shorts, black gloves and a blue bandanna covering his face. The suspect held up his hand with a towel wrapped around it giving the impression he had a weapon when he demanded money. The clerk gave the suspect money from the cash register and the suspect fled the store. The suspect was further described as being 5’5 to 5’8 in height, 120 to 140 pounds.

Crash Causes Interstate Highway To Shut Down

LOCATION: Interstate Highway 37 South at Suntide Road
OFFENSE: Major Traffic Accident
CASE # C1402331
Corpus Christi Police, Fire and EMS responded to a crash involving an overturned box truck on Interstate Highway 37 South at the Suntide Road exit. The crash caused all of the south bound lanes of IH 37 South, coming into downtown, to be closed until the scene was cleared just after 12:30 PM. The crash investigation revealed that the driver, a 30 year old Corpus Christi man, was driving a box truck south in the outside lane of IH 37 when he left the roadway and began to travel on the shoulder, then into the grass. The driver over corrected to the left, causing the truck to veer back across all three lanes of traffic and strike the concrete center median. The crash into the median caused the box truck to roll over onto the driver side and stop in the middle and inside lane of the freeway. The driver was extracted from the cab of the truck by CCFD and transported to the hospital with head injuries. At this time no citations have been issued, however, the crash is still under investigation.

CCPD Looking For Wanted Person

The Corpus Christi Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in helping them locate a wanted person. Daniel Hicks (11/19/1992) is wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant. The warrant is a Failure to Appear on a Theft warrant. He is 5’4 and 100 pounds with brown hair and green eyes. His bond is set at $5,000.

Offense: False Report To Police Officer (PC 37.08 Class B Misdemeanor)

Corpus Christi Police Officers responded to the 3100 block of Greenwood Dr. for a hit and run crash. Officers found that a white Chevrolet Malibu had struck another vehicle from behind. There were no injuries in the crash, and the vehicle was left there, but the driver had fled on foot. A short time later, Shirley Noyola (08/25/1986) called police stating that someone had stolen her vehicle from her home in the 2200 block of Ruth Street. Officers made contact with her at her home, and she stated that someone had burglarized her house and stole her purse containing the keys to her car. She signed a stolen vehicle affidavit.

Upon checking officers found that she had an active arrest warrant. The officers arrested the suspect for the outstanding warrant, and allowed her to call her mother to come pick up her children. When the suspect’s mother arrived she told police that the vehicle wasn’t stolen and that her daughter had told her that she had been involved in a crash and wanted her to drive by to look at the damage. The suspect’s boyfriend also told officers that there was no burglary to the suspect’s home, and that a female by the name of Sara was driving the car when it was crashed on Greenwood Dr. The female suspect was arrested for the outstanding arrest warrant and was also charged with making a false report to police, a Class B Misdemeanor.

Offense: Evading Arrest (PC38.04 Class A Misdemeanor)

Corpus Christi Police Officers responded to a home in the 4700 block of Dody Street for a burglary in progress. When officers arrived they saw two males and one female leaving the back of the residence. When the officers ordered them to stop all three fled on foot. The officers gave chase and were able to stop the 15 year old juvenile female and one adult male, Isaiah Cheatham (04/16/1996). The second male was able to elude the officers.

The officers determined that the house is vacant and the suspects never went inside. The juvenile female was transported to the Nueces County Juvenile Justice Center and faces charges of Evading Arrest, a Class A Misdemeanor. The male suspect was found to be in possession of marijuana, a Class B Misdemeanor and was also charged with Evading Arrest.

A 19 year old female victim reported to officers that she was struck by a car that was driven by her 20 year old ex-boyfriend in the parking lot of an apartment complex in the 4600 block of Kostoryz Road. Officers contacted the victim who told them that the two were having a verbal argument when the male took her cell phone out of her hands and got into his silver Pontiac Grand Am. The victim said she went to the passenger side of the car, got partially inside the car and attempted to get her phone back. When she got partially inside, the male put the car into drive and started to drive away. The victim was dragged for a short time before she was able to get away from the car. The male fled the scene before officers arrived. The female victim was transported to the hospital by CCFD EMS to be treated for her injuries.

Offense: Evading Arrest (PC38.04 Class A Misdemeanor)

Officers went to a home in the 500 block of Virginia Avenue in an attempt to contact a wanted person. Officers knocked on the front door and could hear movement in the house but no one answered the door. The officers then saw a male subject climb out of a window, from the back side of the house onto the roof. The male jumped from the roof of the house to the ground and then ran two blocks before being caught and taken into custody. The male subject was identified as Armando Deleon (11/08/1987). He had an outstanding arrest warrant, and was also charged with evading arrest, a Class A Misdemeanor.

A 33 year old male victim walked into Spohn Shoreline Hospital Emergency Room with head injuries. He told officers that he was in the 700 block of North Chaparral Street when he was hit in the head with a beer bottle by a male. Officers located a crime scene in the street but no one in the area had any idea or knowledge about the assault. The victim stated he didn’t know the offender.

CCPD Seeks Man With Two Warrants

Corpus Christi Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in helping them locate a wanted person. Mario Ernesto Trevino (04/06/1993) is wanted on two separate arrest warrants. One warrant is for a Failure To Appear on a Possession of Marijuana warrant, and the second is a Failure To Appear on a Criminal Mischief warrant. He is 5’7 and 195 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. His bond is set at $10,000 for both warrants.

Corpus Christi Police Officers responded to a home in the 1000 block of Eleventh Street for a call of shots fired. Officers were told by a 39 year old male victim that he along with his three young nephews were standing on the front porch, when a 2004 Grey Chevrolet Tahoe pulled up. He then said that he recognized the female who exited as Emilia Rodriguez (12/13/1967). He said that she began to scream at him about assaulting her daughter. She then displayed a silver handgun and fired one shot at the victim and his nephews. The victim said that he heard the bullet hit near him as he and the children ran inside. The suspect then fled the scene in the SUV. Two other officers saw the suspect vehicle pull into a home in the 100 block of Watson St. and contacted the suspect. The officers arrested the suspect, and charged her with aggravated assault, a first degree felony, impounded the SUV, and recovered the handgun.

Corpus Christi Police Officers were dispatched to a business in the 5600 block of S Alameda St. for a report of a stolen golf cart. A 53 year old male reported that employees had began lining up the golf carts for the day when one was driven off. Employees found the nose piece of the golf cart and a chain link fence that appeared to have been driven over in the rear of the business. Officers then received a call about several juveniles on a golf cart on the campus of Cullen Middle School. Officers arrived and saw five males riding on a golf cart that was missing the nose piece. The juveniles ran from the golf cart into the neighborhood when officers approached. Officers were able to detain 4 juvenile males. The golf cart was returned and the juveniles were taken to the Nueces County Juvenile Justice Center.

Corpus Christi Police Officers investigating a call of suspicious males in a vehicle find two men with outstanding arrest warrants, drugs, and a firearm. Officers responded to the call and found Kalen Phoenix (08/21/1990) and Reginald Wilson (04/07/1976) sitting in a white Buick Park Avenue in front of a home in the 4600 block of Angela Street. Kalen Phoenix had an outstanding arrest warrant and also was found to be in possession of marijuana. Reginald Wilson had a handgun on him that fell out of his pants onto the ground and he was also found to be in possession of marijuana. Both suspects were taken to the City Detention Center.

Corpus Christi Police Officers responded to the 600 Elizabeth Street, Spohn Shoreline Hospital for a report of a stolen ambulance. A 38 year old male told officers he parked the ambulance on the north side of the hospital in the ambulance parking area, and went inside to get a patient. The ambulance was left running and when the male driver returned he saw the ambulance being driven away down Morgan Ave. Officers then saw an ambulance traveling at a high rate of speed south on Kostoryz Rd. from S. Padre Island Drive. Officers observed the ambulance going all over the road with the overhead emergency lights going off and on. Units were able to stop the stolen ambulance in the 5600 block of Liptonshire St. and took Joey Castro (05/31/1996) into custody. Further investigation found that the suspect had ran over two residential mailboxes in the 3700 block of Prosper Street and the driver was also found to be intoxicated. He was charged with Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, a state jail felony, Reckless Driving, a Class B Misdemeanor, and Driving While Intoxicated, also a Class B Misdemeanor. He was additionally charged with resisting search, a Class A misdemeanor, when he began to physically resist officers while at the hospital being treated.
