Patrol Report September 29, 2016

Corpus Christi Police Officers were dispatched to 4200 Patrick in reference to a fight involving a knife. Officers arrived and contacted a 15 year old male victim. The victim had a small laceration to the top of his right hand and scratches to both sides of his neck. The victim stated that his father banged his head against a wall and threatened to stab him with a knife. The victim stated that he feared for his life and attempted to grab the knife and was cut in the process. He was treated at the scene by medics.

Officers contacted the 38 year old male suspect. He stated there was a disturbance with his son and that he made threats to kill his wife. When the victim would not leave he got a knife in order to scare him into leaving. The suspect stated that the victim lunged for the knife causing the laceration to his hand. Police arrested Brian Coronado ((09-30-1977) and transported him to the City Detention Center.

Corpus Christi Police Officers were dispatched to the 4300 block of Ayers in reference to a subject lighting a fire behind businesses. As officers were en route the call was updated advising that a male was spraying a substance on the tires, possibly gasoline, an was still at the location acting erratically.

Officers arrived and were advised by CCFD they had extinguished the fire in the alley way. The male suspect was still on scene and was detained by police. At the time the suspect was contacted he still had a lighter in his hand. Officers observed a bottle containing liquid and a rag sticking out of the top, also referred as a Molotov cocktail. The CCPD bomb squad was called and located two more bottles at the scene. The bomb squad took custody of the devices. Officers arrested Isidro Soto DeLaCruz (10-18-1965) for arson and transported him to the City Detention Center.

Detectives would like to speak to this man because they believe he may have information about the Aggravated Assault that occurred September 14, 2016 in the Wal Mart parking lot at Staples and Carmel Parkway. A female was grabbed by a male who tried to force her behind a building and then into a car. The female victim was able to get away.

Offense: Burglary to a Motor vehicle, Unauthorized use of a Motor Vehicle, Evading, Possession of Controlled Substance, Possession of Marijuana and Drug Paraphernalia

Corpus Christi Police Officers were dispatched to 1400 Brentwood in reference to a stolen vehicle not in progress. Officers contacted the victim who stated that his 2015 Chevy Silverado was stolen. He advised that he saw it last night and when he went outside at 8:00am it was gone. The victim advised that a second vehicle, a Cadillac SUV, was also parked in the driveway and had been burglarized. The victim stated that the spare keys to the truck were in the SUV and were gone. The victim advised that he contacted ON STAR and the truck had been disabled.

CCPD dispatchers were contacted by ON STAR and advised the vehicle was disabled and located the vehicle in the HEB parking lot at 3033 S. Port. Officers arrived and observed the truck. As officers approached the drivers side door was open and a young male wearing a pink shirt and shorts exited the vehicle. When he saw officers he took off running towards Sarita St. A second young male  exited the passengers side of the truck, wearing a black shirt and black pants, and ran towards Tarlton.

The chase was on. Both suspects fled on foot, jumping fences, running down the access road and through various neighborhoods. The suspect in black was taken in to custody at 3100 Lanier. The suspect in pink was observed sitting on a porch at 2700 Elizabeth. When he saw the officers he fled again and was taken into custody in the 2700 block of Cloyde.

Officers returned to the scene, caught their breath and searched the stolen truck. They located marijuana, drug paraphernalia and a brown wax like substance believed to be a narcotic. There was also various items in the truck that the victim stated were not his. The scene was processed and the truck was released to the owner. The two 15 year old males were transported to the Juvenile Detention Center.

Corpus Christi Police Officers were dispatched to 6000 SPID in reference to a theft in progress at a local bank. As officers were in route they were advised that a male wearing a hardhat and reflective vest was trying to cash a fraudulent check.

When officers arrived they contacted the suspect. The suspect stated that he was trying to cash a check for work he had done. The teller advised that the check he was trying to cash came in as a stolen check. The bank called the business and confirmed that the check was stolen.

Officers arrested Charles Earl Wallace (7-14-1969) and transported him to the city detention center.

Event: Aggravated Assault

Corpus Christi Police Officers were dispatched to 2400 Nemec in reference to a disturbance with injuries. Upon arrival officers observed the 47 year old male victim  lying on the floor in a large amount of blood. There was a female applying pressure to his head. Officers observed a cut to the victims head and a cut to his finger on his left hand. Medics arrived at the scene and treated the victim. The medics also advised that the injuries are consistent with a knife cut.

Officers attempted to get information from the victim but were having a hard time due to the victim being upset and intoxicated. Officers investigated the scene and found blood stains on the door, leading down the porch and down the sidewalk before it disappeared. Offices spoke to a neighbor who advised that he saw a heavy set male leave the apartment.

Officers checked the area and located the suspect sitting on the sidewalk near the Whataburger parking lot.  The subject had blood on his hands and as officers approached the subject they observed a large knife with blood on it. Officers questioned the subject who advised that he went to a local bar with the victim and another person. At the bar he drank with the victim and does not recall how he got to the apartment. Officers arrested Daniel Henry Vatow (09-08-1964) for aggravated assault and transported to the city detention center.

Corpus Christi Police Officers were dispatched to 4500 Ayers in reference to a fight with injuries. Officers contacted the 38 year old male victim and the 37 year old female victim. The two advised that they were walking in the Walgreens parking lot when the 28 year old male suspect exited a grey vehicle and started hitting the male victim with his fists. The victim was cut to his head and had abrasions to his chest. He was checked by medics at the scene and released.

During the fight the female victim tried to pull the suspect off the male victim. She advised that the suspect took her backpack from her and took her purse from inside of it. The suspect then fled in the grey car. The victims advised that the suspect is staying in some apartments off of Kilgore St.

Officers went to the area of 4400 Kilgore and observed a grey Hyundai Elantra parked in front of the residence. As officers arrived the observed the suspect coming from the residence and detained him. The suspect stated that he saw the couple walking and confronted them. He stated that he confronted the two because he believed they took some property from him and that is why he took the purse. The suspect stated that he threw the purse in the street but changed his story and took the officers to the purse in the apartment under a pile of clothes. Officers arrested Carlos Jimenez (11-13-1987) for robbery and transported him to the City Detention Center.

At about 4:45PM Corpus Christi Police Department Narcotics Vice Investigations Division served a search warrant at an apartment located at 3802 Caravelle. This warrant was the result of an ongoing investigation into drug dealing from that location.
Seized during the warrant was 39.9 grams of powdered cocaine, 12.1 grams of crystal methamphetamine, and 2.0 grams of marijuana, scales, spoons, razor blades, and packaging materials.  Estimated street value of the drugs was $2350.00.  Also seized were $654.00 in US currency, a Ruger semiautomatic .380 handgun, and a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado.

Arrested was Ernesto Ochoa (6-19-68), who was charged with Manufacture/Delivery of Controlled Substance and Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon.

Shooting suspect from 4900 Olympia in custody.

Oscar Merado Chapa (12/6/1980) turned himself in to Deputies at Nueces County Jail. This occurred at 1:00PM September 20, 2016. chapa_oscar_merado_12061980

Chapa is accused of kicking in a door of a residence at 4900 Olympia and shooting a 30 year old male in the stomach.

Offense: Burglary of a Motor Vehicle (PC 30.04)

Corpus Christi Police Officers responded to Moore Plaza in reference to a burglary to a vehicle. Officers arrived and saw a Mercedes with a broken window. The victim was contacted and advised that he had come from a bank on Weber Road. He withdrew cash, paced it in a bank bag and put it under his seat. He went into HEB and when he came out he observed his window was broken and the bank bag was gone.

A security guard saw a green SUV parked next to the victims vehicle. When he approached the SUV the left in a hurry. The bank bag was the only item taken. There is no description of any suspects.

Officers stopped a vehicle for no license plate in the 1900 block of Mussett. When officers contacted the driver he was extremely nervous. The driver told officers that he did not want any trouble and that he might still have an active protective order. The driver was detained and found to have a active protective order which prohibited him from being within 200 yards of 2000 Mussett.

The driver, Gavino Gonzales (9/26/1994) was arrested for violating a court order. He was also found to have 2 rocks of crack cocaine in his sock. He was transported to the City Detention Center.

Corpus Christi Police Officers were dispatched to 10500 Heizer in reference to a disturbance. As officers arrived they observed a male coming out of a apartment holding a small child and with another child following him. Officers asked what was going on, the 28 year old male told officers that she was trying to run out with the children and that he wasn’t going to let that happen. Officers asked where the female was the male pointed to another apartment.

A 25 year old female came out of the apartment. She was breathing heavily and could not talk. When officers attempted to talk with her the male became irate and started cussing at the female. The male went into an apartment and officers followed to find out what was happening. The male stated that they began arguing because she was coughing and he didn’t want her to wake up the children. He stated that she tried to run out with the children and he stopped her.

The female was contacted and advised that her and the male were together when she started to have trouble breathing and began to cough. She stated that while she was looking for her inhaler, the male told her to shut up and not wake the kids. She stated that he then told her to “go ahead and die”. The argument escalated and she started to leave with the children. She stated that the male grabbed her by the hair and pulled her black inside and took a 2 year old from her arms and threw him (the child) on the couch. She stated that the male punched her in the forehead with his fist.

Officers went to contact the suspect, Joshua Lynn Wilson (11/07/1987) and arrest him for assault family violence. He was still holding the 2 year old male even after officers told him several times to put the child down. Joshua backed into the apartment holding the child between the officers. He was told again to put the child down. At this point he began swinging the child back and forth using him as a barrier between him and the officers. Two officers grabbed the suspect and a third was able to remove the child from the suspect. As officers were attempting handcuff the suspect, he began to resist. Officers had to utilize their TASER in order to get the suspect into custody.

The child was not injured during the altercation.  Joshua Wilson was arrested and transported to the City Detention Center.

Warrant issued for shooting suspect at 4900 Olympia Drive.

A warrant has been issued for the suspect in the Aggravated assault with a deadly weapon at 4900 Olympia Drive. This happened on Sunday September 18, 2016 at 9:26am. The offender kicked in the front door of the residence and shot the 30 year old male victim with a handgun in the stomach.

Corpus Christi Police Officers are looking for Oscar Merado Chapa (12/6/1980). He is 6 feet tall weighing 185 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.

The warrant is for Burglary with the Intent to Commit a felony and Aggravated  Assault W/Deadly Weapon. The bond has been set at $40,000.

Corpus Christi Police officers were dispatched to 4800 Blackjack Pl. in reference to a disturbance with a weapon. Officers arrived and contacted the 27 year old female victim. She stated that people were gathered at her house for a birthday party. The victim stated that she was inside when she heard loud banging coming from the front yard of her house.

The victim went outside and saw the 30 year old female suspect hitting the victims car with her hands. The suspect challenged the victim and told her to come outside. The victim told the suspect to stop and walked towards her with another person.  The suspect got inside her car, grabbed a knife and continued to threaten the victims. The suspect then drove her white Honda Civic onto the yard and at the victim and her friend nearly hitting them. The suspect backed out of the yard, continued to yell profanities and threats, and then fled the scene.

No one was injured in the incident but the victims did fear for their lives.

Corpus Christi Police Officers responded to a series of armed robberies early this morning. At 2:57am officers responded to 7100 S. Staples. They contacted the clerk who stated he was contacted by a suspect wearing a black beanie, grey hoodie and blue bandana over his face while he was outside taking a break. The suspect pulled a silver handgun and demanded his property. The clerk ran inside and locked the doors. The suspect fled the scene with no property.

At approximately 3:20am officers responded to 600 Airport in reference to another robbery. The clerk advised that a suspect wearing a blue hoodie, black hat and a black bandana came into the store, pulled a silver handgun and demanded cash and cigarettes.  The clerk gave the suspect the items and the suspect fled the store on foot.

At approximately 4:20am the clerk heard the front doorbell ring and was approached by a suspect wearing a blue hoodie, blue baseball cap and a grey handkerchief. The  suspect pulled a silver handgun and demanded cash and cigarettes. The clerk gave the items to the suspect who then fled on foot.

None of the clerks were injured in the robberies. Police have video and are in the process of reviewing the footage to get a better description of the suspect.

Police need your help identifying these burglars

Corpus Christi Police Detectives need your help identifying these two burglars. CCPD officers contacted the victim advised that two subjects stole a propane tank. The victim told the officers that there was video of the suspects. On the video the suspects were observed driving a silver vehicle (possibly a Nissan) and parking it. A suspect wearing a red shirt and blue jeans was observed exiting the vehicle and walking out of the cameras view. The suspects went into a fenced in area and took a propane tank off the back of a forklift. A short time later a second suspect was observed carrying what appeared to be a propane tank and placing it in the vehicle. The second suspect was wearing a black shirt and blue shorts. Both suspects entered the vehicle and left the area.
