Patrol Report July 14, 2016

Offense: Burglary of a Motor Vehicle (P.C. 30.04) A Misdemeanor

Case Number: 1607130063

Corpus Christi Police Officers were dispatched to 600 S. Staples in reference to a burglary to a vehicle. The victim advised that he parked his vehicle at S. Staples and Park St. and went inside a location for five minutes. When he came out he found the back drivers side window broken. Missing was a backpack containing a bank bag, gym bag and a wallet. The gym bag had a firearm inside of it. The victim did not see anyone following him today. Police searched the area but were not able to locate any suspects.

Offense: Aggravated Assault (PC 22.02) 2nd Degree Felony

Case Number: 1607130174

Corpus Christi Police Officer were dispatched to 900 Greenbay Dr. in reference to a shooting victim. Officers arrived but were unable to locate a victim. A short time later Medic 13 located the victim at the Stripes at 9600 Flour Bluff Dr. The 48 male victim had a small puncture wound to his lower abdomen . The victim was able to give a description  of the suspect. Officers went to 900 Greenbay and made contact with the 47 year old male suspect.

The suspect advised that he got into a argument with the victim because he was knocking loudly on his door. The victim was told to leave and did but returned a short time later. The suspect observed the victim come onto his property and take a bicycle. The 38 year old female witness gave chase to the victim and confronted him which escalated into an argument. The suspect grabbed a pellet gun and shot the victim once to protect the witness and the property. The pellet gun was collected as evidence and the scene was processed. The victim was transported to Spohn Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Offense: Assault Family Violence (PC 22.01) A Misdemeanor

Case Number: 1607140021

Corpus Christi Police Officers were dispatched to 300 Stages Dr. in reference a disturbance with a weapon.  Officers arrived and heard loud yelling coming from inside the residence. Officers made contact with the residents and observed clothing and other household items thrown all over the floor.

The 49 year old male victim advised that his wife was upset because he began a conversation with her about divorce. She then grabbed his things and began throwing them and told him to leave. The victim stated that the confrontation became physical and his wife (suspect) began grabbing and holding him. The victim pushed her away and was then slapped in the face by the suspect. The suspect went upstairs an grabbed a .38 caliber handgun  and was pointing it in the air. The two were struggling over a computer when the gun went off accidentally discharging a round into the ceiling.

Officers arrested Gayle Connolly (02-08-1968) for assault family violence and discharging a firearm in certain municipalities in order to prevent further violence. Gayle was transported to the City Detention Center.

Couple steals items from lowe’s

Corpus Christi Police Detectives need your help identifying this male and female who took some tools from Lowe’s without paying. The couple was seen walking through the store and placing items in their basket. They went to the counter to pay and this is when the male suspect distracted the employee. The female suspect bypassed the counter with the items in the basket and left the store.

Police Need your Help Identifying These Theft suspects

Corpus Christi Police Department detectives need your help identifying these two theft suspects. The two suspects were observed on surveillance cameras entering Wal Mart. They were then seen prying open a cash register and taking a undisclosed amount of money. The suspects were then seen on camera exiting the store.

Murder Suspect Arrested in Fort Bend County

Corpus Christi Police Detectives and Gang Unit worked with various Law Enforcement agencies in tracking down and arresting the suspect from the city’s latest homicide.

Officers arrested 27 year old Joseph Deark Cancino (07-25-1988) for the murder that occurred at the Office Club in the 2400 block of Rand Morgan. Joseph was located and arrested in Fort Bend County. His bond has been set at $250,000. This was an excellent coordinated effort in getting a dangerous individual off the street.

Murder suspect wanted from shooting at 2400 Rand Morgan

Corpus Christi Police Officers responded to the 2400 block of Rand Morgan for a fight to occur at a bar. As officers were en route to the bar, the call was updated to a shooting. Officers arrived and found a 36 year old male deceased from possible gunshot wounds. The suspect(s) fled the scene before officers arrived.

CCPD Detectives and Crime Scene technicians arrived and are processing the scene. Witnesses were transported to the main police station to be interviewed. The investigation is in the early stages and is ongoing.

Suspect arrested for Murder after a shooting in the 1100 block of Bloomington

Corpus Christi Police Department officers were dispatched to 1100 Bloomington in reference to a shooting. Officers arrived and observed a 30 year old female victim that appeared to have been shot. The victim was transported to Christus Spohn Memorial Hospital.

Officers observed a black Ford Expedition parked at that location.  Three subjects were detained and transported to the main police station for questioning. Initial information is that the suspect and a witness were arguing outside the vehicle. At some point the argument turned physical and shots were fired striking the victim. The scene was processed and a weapon was recovered.

During the investigation officers and detectives were advised that the 30 year old victim died at the hospital.  33 year old Feliciano Cruz (10/01/1982) was arrested and charged with murder and several other crimes related to the incident. Cruz was transported to the City Detention Center.

This is still an active investigation, information will be released as it becomes available.

City’s Latest Homicide

Corpus Christi Police Officers were dispatched to 3854 SPID in reference to a nature unknown. Upon arrival officers located a 22 year old male in the parking lot bleeding from the head. The responding officers discovered that the victim had been stabbed several times. The victim was transported to Spohn Memorial where he died from his injuries at 2:07 am.

The preliminary information officers have is that there was a argument between two males. The argument escalated in the parking lot and at some point during this argument the victim was stabbed. A male subject wearing blue jeans and a white shirt was seen running from the location. Corpus Christi Homicide Detectives are actively working this homicide and are currently interviewing witnesses.

Corpus Christi Police Department officers were dispatched to 4223 S. Alameda in reference to a traffic accident with injuries. Officers contacted a witness who advised the incident was not an accident that a female purposely struck her boyfriend with the vehicle. Officers contacted the male victim who was in a lot of pain and would not cooperate with police officers. The male was taken to Doctors Regional Medical Center for treatment.

The witness advised that the incident started inside the bar and continued outside in the parking lot. The witness advised that he saw the 30 year old male strike the 29 year old female possibly knocking her unconscious. The female woke up, grabbed her keys and stated that she was going to hit the male with her car. The female drove her Nissan Altima directly at the male. The male was struck with the front of the car carrying him about 30 feet and then striking the building causing significant damage. The female struck another vehicle and fled the scene. Officers searched the area but were unable to locate the female.

Offense: Cruelty to non livestock animals (PC 42.092) 3rd Degree Felony

Corpus Christi Police Officers arrested 20 year old Rosendo C. Gonzales (02-13-1996) for cruelty to non livestock animals.

Officers were called to 3600 S, Saxet Dr. after the Corpus Christi Fire Department responded to smoke in the area and located a dog carcass in a bar-b-que pit. Engine-5 had put the fire out prior to officers arriving. Officers observed the small dog inside the bar-b-que pit. Officers attempted to make contact with the suspect, but there was no response. Officers contacted family members who arrived at the scene. They were able to make contact with the suspect and gain entry into the house.

Rosendo was asked about the incident. He stated that he was petting the dog and was bit. He reacted causing serious injury to the dog. He panicked and put the dog on the bar-b-que pit in order to get “rid of it”. Officers arrested Rosendo and transported him to the City Detention Center.

Crime Scene Technician processed the scene. Animal Control Officers collected the carcass inside the bar-b-que pit in order to preserve evidence.

Mosquito found with West Nile Virus in local neighborhood

Animal Care and Vector services received confirmation today that a mosquito from our trap off the 2900 block of Lawton tested positive for West Nile Virus. The mosquito was collected last Tuesday.  Vector personnel will be out aerial spraying the neighborhood for the next three nights.

Directed patrol officers and neighborhood services personnel will be attempting to locate any standing water in the neighborhood including examining abandoned properties.

We need to remind local residents to check their property for standing water and to apply mosquito repellent to themselves and to their children.
