Man Dies In Single Vehicle Crash Sunday Morning

A 33-year-old man died in a single vehicle crash on the 5700 block of Leopard Sunday morning.

The Corpus Christi Police responded to a single vehicle crash at 2:20am Sunday morning and found two men trapped inside the vehicle. Witnesses told Police the blue 2002 Chevy Trailblazer travelled at a high rate of speed along the 5700 block of Leopard Street, then left the roadway and rolled in a ditch.

A 33-year-old male passenger did not survive the crash. The 29-year-old male driver was taken to the hospital by ambulance for treatment of his injuries. No other person was injured in the crash. Corpus Christi Police Crash Investigators are collecting data from the crash to determine the exact sequence of events and do believe alcohol consumption may have been a factor in the crash.

The 29-year-old man remains in the hospital for treatment of significant injuries as a result of the crash.

Police were called to the USA Dollar Store for an alarm which had been activated.  An Officer sneaked onto the parking lot and observed a burglar peering at him through the store’s burglar bars.  Upon seeing the Officer, the suspect ran toward the back of the store.  The Officer rushed to the rear of the store and secured the door with the suspect and his companions inside. The suspects refused to come out and a canine assist was requested.

Officers could hear banging coming from inside the building as if they were trying to break out.  K-9 Indy and his partner arrived and entered the building.  Indy found the three juveniles males hiding in a utility room.

A 16-year-old and two 15-year-olds were taken into police custody and booked at the Nueces County Juvenile Justice Center.  All three were charged with Burglary of a Building.

Police responding to a suspicious subject call in which two males looking inside vehicles found a man  inside a black Chevrolet pick-up truck.  Christopher Prieto (09/07/82) had punched the lock on the door and was in the process of removing a car stereo from the truck.

Prieto was arrested and charged with Burglary of a Vehicle and booked at the City Detention Center.  He was additionally charged with a Parole Violation warrant for Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle and Evading Arrest.  The second suspect was not located.

Officers were dispatched to the residence for a burglary in progress.  The victim’s brother called police as he chased after the suspect. The suspect fled into a thick brushy area and escaped.

The brother told Police he arrived at his sister’s house to find the front door open and her home being burglarized. A computer laptop and tablet valued at $1,400 were stolen.

Police are looking for a Hispanic male, 15 to 18 years of age, 5’6” to 5’8” feet tall, and weighing 130 to 140 lbs.

Police contacted a 19-year-old man who reported he was stabbed by co-worker as he walked home.  The victim told Officers “Roger” approached him and an argument ensued.  The suspect a pulled a knife and stabbed the victim in the chest.  The victim and a witness began chasing the suspect, but were unable to catch up to him and called police.  The victim was rushed to Spohn Memorial for medical treatment.

Officers identified the suspect as Roger Estrella (05/27/91) and discovered he lived within a couple blocks of the stabbing.  Estrella was located at 13305 Hearn Road and placed under arrest after was positively identified.  He was booked at the CDC and charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon along with an outstanding Nueces County warrant for Burglary (No Bond).

Officers contacted a 24-year-old man who reported Luis Everado Sandoval (02/22/86) came over to his residence and confronted him over a stolen air compressor.  Sandoval then pulled a gun from his waistband and struck the victim in the head.  The victim was able to get away from Sandoval and call police.  The victim was treated and released at the scene.

Sandoval was found in the parking lot of the Heizer Apartments and arrested.  He was booked at the City Detention Center and charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.

Police pulled over a blue pick-up truck for a traffic violation,  A female passenger in the truck was found to be wanted.

Martha Elisha Smith (05/06/83) was arrested and charged with a Nueces County warrant for Prostitution (No Bond) and a Municipal Court warrant in the amount of $319.  The driver was released with a verbal warning.

Officers responded to a traffic accident in which both drivers were arguing with one another.  Nick Reza Sr. (02/20/58) the driver of a black 2001 Chevrolet pick-up truck struck a maroon 2011 Harley Davidson driven by a 37-year-old man. Both drivers and a 41-year-old passenger in Reza’s truck were uninjured.

Reza who appeared to be intoxicated and taken to Spohn Shoreline for a blood draw.  He was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated.

Bicyclist Fidencio Aldaco (11/17/70) was pulled over for not having a rear reflector and found to be wanted.  Aldaco was arrested and charged with an outstanding warrant out of San Patricio County for Theft.  His bond was set at $1,000.  Aldaco’s bicycle was dropped off at his residence.

Police were called by HEB employees who were following a silver Chevrolet Impala involved in a theft of gas. Officers found the Impala parked at the gas pumps at 2002 Morgan Avenue. The driver Decoriah LaCharles Harris (06/23/91) was arrested and booked at City Detention Center. He was charged with Theft and Driving While License Suspended.

Police located a empty stolen trailer at the Travel Lodge. The trailer was taken from 5702 S. Staples Street on May 28th and was filled with windows and window frames.

Man Crashes Truck into Garage

A 45-year-old man caused damage to a garage after a single vehicle crash which started on the 11,000 block of Interstate Highway 37 Wednesday morning.

The 45-year-old man was treated at the scene for minor injuries and released. The man drove a yellow 2008 Dodge pickup in the center lane west on the 11,000 block of Interstate Highway 37 at a little after 9am. The posted speed limit for that portion of the roadway is 75 miles per hour. The pickup abruptly changed direction and travelled over the grass and then struck the garage to a house on the 4600 block of Old Nueces Town Road.

No injuries were reported other than the minor injuries the operator sustained. There were no other occupants in the vehicle. The 45-year-old man was issued a citation for unsafe speed. The truck was towed due to the damage. The initial estimated damage to the garage was $20,000 dollars.

Auto Theft Task Force Seeks To Identify Two Men

The Corpus Christi Police Auto Theft Task Force would like help from the public to identify and locate two men responsible for felony theft that happened on May 18, at the 100 block of Villa Drive.

The Corpus Christi Police were called to investigate a theft in which several welding machines on trailers valued at $54,000 dollars were stolen on May 18, 2013 from a fenced area on the 100 block of Villa Drive. The suspects cut a hole in the fence to access the trailers. The trailers were later recovered at Airport Road and Lou Street.

Corpus Christi Police Auto Theft Task Force Detectives have obtained images of the two men responsible for the theft. The two men used a Dodge Sport Utility Vehicle in order to pull the trailers. One suspect is described as a white male about 5 foot 10 inches tall, with short brown hair and he wore a blue cap, blue long sleeve Old Navy shirt, with blue jeans and white shoes.

The other suspect is described as a white male about 6 feet tall, gray hair, and wore a blue cap, black short sleeve T-shirt, blue jeans, and brown shoes.

Corpus Christi Homicide/Robbery Detectives are asking the public’s assistance in identifying the knife wielding man who robbed a local Check N Go.

The 43-year-old employee told Officers the man took the money from the register and ran out of the business.  Officers report the woman was uninjured during the robbery.

The suspect is described as a heavyset Hispanic male, 35 to 40 years of age, 5’8” to 5’10” feet tall and weighing 265 to 290 lbs.

Police Seek Two Yeti Thieves

The Corpus Christi Police Auto Theft Task Force would like help from the public to identify two men who stole a Yeti cooler valued at $400 dollars from a truck parked in a driveway at the 13600 block of Teague Lane on April 10, 2013.

The owner of the truck and cooler provided video to police that shows two men approach the truck on April 9, 2013 at about 11:26pm and saw the cooler. The two men identified the cooler was fastened to the truck. The two men are seen again at about 1:45am on April 10 and the men use bolt cutters to unfasten the cooler. The men then stole the cooler and left in an unknown direction.

The cooler is described as a 65 quart white ice cooler manufactured by Yeti and is valued at $400 dollars. Detectives now would like help from the public to identify the two men in the video.

One man is described as a white male about 20 years in age, 5 foot 9 inches tall, about 180 pounds and wore a light-colored t-shirt.

The other man is described as a white man about 18 years of age, 5 foot 7 inches tall, 200 pounds, wore a light-colored cap and a t-shirt that had a Nike swoosh on the front.
