Corpus Christi Police are investigating the deaths of two adults on the 8000 block of Etienne Drive Thursday afternoon. Corpus Christi Police responded to a complaint of a shooting at 3:40pm on the 8000 block of Etienne Drive. Officers discovered a woman in the street and a man near the front door to a house and the Officers saw they had obvious injuries. Officers said they believe the injuries were consistent with gunshot wounds and had the Corpus Christi Fire Department Emergency Medical Services provide treatment to the man and woman. The man and woman were pronounced dead at the scene.
Responding Officers summoned the assistance from the Corpus Christi Police Criminal Investigations Division and the Corpus Christi Police Forensics Services. Detectives processed the scene and believed the event was a possible murder/suicide and have no information to support any claim of a third person involved in this event. Detectives continue to gather information and evidence from the area and continue to work to verify the identity of the man and woman and any relationship they may have. The man is believed to be in his 50’s in age and the woman is believed to be in her 40’s in age. Offense: Burglary of a Vehicle (PC 30.04 Class A Misdemeanor) Case Number: 1409240118 Corpus Christi Police Officers were dispatched to the parking lot of a business located at 6773 S Padre Island Dr. when a witness called to report he was watching a man break into his friends’ car. When officers arrived they were directed by the witness to the front of the hotel parking lot to a white Ford Escape car and they saw a male sitting in the driver’s seat. Officers found Andrew Parker (06/27/1993) removing property including a black 9 MM caliber handgun from the car. The suspect was arrested and charged with burglary of a vehicle, a Class A misdemeanor, and the stolen items were returned to the victim.

Offense: Forgery (PC 32.21 Third Degree Felony) Case Number: 1409230088 Corpus Christi Police went to a business located at 10361 S. Padre Island Dr. and picked up two fake $20 bills that were used to make purchases over the past few days. The store manager reported that one of the bills was passed during the day on Friday, the other on Monday. Officers confiscated the counterfeit bills and are reviewing video from the store to see if any suspects can be identified.

Offense: Aggravated Assault (PC 22.02 Second Degree Felony) Case Number: 1409220177 A 48 year old male victim called Corpus Christi Police after he was hit in the face with a pipe or bat while walking in the 4100 block of Violet Rd. The victim told officers he was walking south on Violet Rd on the sidewalk toward his house. He said that as he passed a trailer park he noticed a young black male wearing shorts and a baseball cap walking up to him. The suspect told the victim “Don`t walk up on me” and then hit him in the head with an unknown solid weapon. The victim could not tell what he was hit with. The victim suffered a cut above the right eye and was transported to Northwest Regional Hospital by CCFD EMS. No suspect has been arrested in this case.

OFFENSE: Burglary of a Building (PC 30.02 State Jail Felony)
CASE # 1409090111 Corpus Christi Police Officers responded to a burglary of a building located at 1017 Airline Rd. A 57 year old male victim discovered that a storage shed had been broken into and about $295 worth of property was stolen. Camera surveillance shows a male suspect 5’10” to 6’2” tall, wearing blue jeans, an orange shirt and a hat turning off power to the building and then going inside. The suspect vehicle involved is an older model navy blue Ford F-150 truck with a tool box in the bed. Offense: Driving While Intoxicated (PC 49.04Class B Misdemeanor) Case Number: 1409190001 A 19 year old male called Corpus Christi Police after the vehicle he was driving was struck from behind and the other vehicle fled the scene. The man told officers that he was sitting in his 1998 Ford Taurus at the light at Holly Rd. and Rodd Field Rd. facing east waiting at a red light. He stated that when the light turned green, he was struck from behind by a 2001 Ford F250 truck. After striking the car, the driver of the truck continued traveling east on Holly Rd. not stopping. The male followed the hit and run driver to the 7400 block of Piper Dr. where the driver of the truck exited and he then began to urinate in the roadway and was yelling at the male for following him. Officers arrived and contacted the driver, Alec Martinez (09/07/1992), and upon investigation found him to be intoxicated. He was arrested for driving while intoxicated, a Class B misdemeanor, and his truck was impounded.

Offense: Possession of as Controlled Substance (HS 481.115 State Jail Felony) Case Number: 1409170020 A 31 year old female called Corus Christi Police to her apartment located at 4702 Old Brownsville Rd. for a possible burglary in progress. She said that her ex-boyfriend was trying to force open the front door of her apartment. Officers arrived and found Marcos Gonzales (09/30/1979) outside the apartment building and upon checking his pocket they found four small plastic bags each containing what appeared to be narcotics. One bag contained heroin another contained cocaine, and a third crystal methamphetamine. A fourth bag contained several pills believed to be hydrocodone. The suspect was charged with three felony counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance for the suspected heroin, methamphetamine, and cocaine, and charged with a misdemeanor count of possession for the hydrocodone. Officers found no evidence that the suspect made entry into his ex-girlfriends apartment.

Offense: Possession of a Controlled Substance (HS 481.115 Second Degree Felony) Case Number: 1409160002 The night manager of a business located at 13202 Leopard St. called Corpus Christi Police after he observed a 2004 Dodge Truck driving reckless through the parking lot and at one point he saw the truck drive over a sign. The truck then parked at the far end of the parking lot and officers found the driver, William Bradley Beck (10/12/1971) intoxicated or high on some type of drug. The suspect had an arrest warrant from San Patricio County and he was taken into custody. Inside the truck officers found methamphetamine and a pipe In addition to the arrest warrants, the suspect was charged with possession of a controlled substance, a second degree felony, and possession of drug paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor. The truck was impounded.

Offense: Interference with Emergency Call (PC 42.062 Class A Misdemeanor) Case Number: 1409140014 A 51 year old female victim told Corpus Christi Police Officers that she and an ex-boyfriend were involved in a disturbance at her apartment located at 2002 Airline Rd. Officers had responded to a call about an open line to 911 and call takers could hear a female yelling at a male to get out of the house. The female said that she was arguing with Raymond Najera (09/28/1961) and she was calling 911 when the male suspect took the phone from her. The suspect ran away from her apartment with the females’ phone. Other responding officers found him attempting to evade them on foot in the parking lot. He was eventually caught and arrested. He was charged with interfering with an emergency call and evading arrest, both Class A misdemeanors. The females’ phone was returned to her.

Corpus Christi Police have charged Sammuel Everett Toomey (07/04/1951) with Capital Murder and one count of Aggravated Assault in connection with the shooting that occurred Sunday night at the Marina Village located at 229 Naval Air Station Drive in Flour Bluff. Corpus Christi Police responded to a shooting at about 7 PM and discovered three fatally injured people outside different homes. A 32 year old female another 53 year old female, and a 56 year old male were found outside various homes along Redfish Court and Sailfish Court, inside the Marina Village. A 10 year old male was also transported to the hospital by CCFD EMS for gunshot wounds. Corpus Christi Police Robbery & Homicide Detectives and the Police Crime Scene Units were at the scene until about 5 AM this morning collecting evidence and examining this very large and complex crime scene. The suspect was charged with Capital Murder because his act caused the death of more than one person during the same criminal transaction, and aggravated assault, a second degree felony for shooting the child.
