Corpus Christi Police arrested two men for a beer run and other charges after a traffic stop on the 2000 block of Treyway Lane Thursday night. A Corpus Christi Police Officer conducted a traffic stop after he saw a gray 2000 Mitsubishi Montero travel faster than the posted speed limit on Holly at Treyway. The Officer saw the Montero turn onto Treyway Lane at a high rate of speed and into oncoming traffic. The Officer conducted a stop and discovered the driver, 21-year-old David Delbosque (6/21/1992) had a warrant for his arrest for a probation violation. The Officer heard a call for a theft of beer at a convenience store located at Airline and Holly in which the suspect description matched Delbosque and his passenger, 23-year-old Brian Mathis (9/5/1990). The Officer discovered other evidence of the theft in the Montero and the Officer arrested Delbosque and Mathis for the theft. The Officer impounded the Montero, returned the beer to the store, and delivered Delbosque and Mathis to the city detention center.

Corpus Christi Police arrested 42-year-old Johnnie Shull (6/29/1971) for discharging a firearm inside the city limits and for public intoxication at Padre Bali Park Tuesday night. Corpus Christi Police responded to a complaint of a man who discharged a firearm in the air at the park. Officers found Shull with a pistol and arrested him for discharging a firearm inside the city limits and for public intoxication.

A Corpus Christi Police Officer is credited with possibly saving the life of a 55-year-old woman from an apartment fire at 9320 South Padre Island Drive Tuesday morning. Three Corpus Christi Police Officers: Lieutenant Tom Nichols; Officer Brian Martin; and Officer Andres Alvarez responded to a fire at an apartment at 2:30am Tuesday morning and arrived before the Fire Department. The Officers heard screams and saw smoke inside the apartment and they forced open the door to provide help. Lt. Nichols heard the yelling from one of the occupants getting closer, but apparently unable to get to the door. At that point, Lt. Nichols got onto his hands and knees and crawled through the apartment living room where the couch and recliner were on fire. Amidst the smoke, Lt. Nichols made it into the hall where he made contact with a 55 year old woman and pulled her out of the apartment.
The Corpus Christi Fire Department arrived and attacked the fire, then were able to rescue a 28 year old woman. The 28 year old woman and the 55 year old woman were transported to the hospital for injuries from the fire. Lt. Nichols was transported to Bay Area Hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation and released. Officers Martin and Alvarez were treated for minor smoke inhalation and released back to duty.
A 43-year-old woman reported a theft at a grocery store located at 5313 Saratoga Boulevard to Corpus Christi Police Tuesday in which the suspect left behind an eight month old child. Corpus Christi Police responded to the complaint at 8:40pm and the 43-year-old woman explained to Officers that she saw a 24-year-old woman take merchandise from the store displays and load a shopping cart, then walk out of the store without paying for the merchandise. The 43-year-old woman told Officers she confronted the 24-year-old woman and the 24-year-old woman left the shopping cart behind and ran to a red Ford Mustang, then drove away. The 43-year-old woman told Officers an eight month old child was in the shopping cart left behind by the 24-year-old woman. Officers contacted a family member of the child to care for the baby. Officers were not able to locate the 24-year-old woman, but know her identity. Officers generated a criminal complaint for the theft and for child abandonment.

Corpus Christi Police arrested 23-year-old Meagan Boswell (2/13/1991) for driving while intoxicated after she was found asleep at the wheel at a drive through window at a restaurant located at 6505 Everhart Road Tuesday morning. Corpus Christi Police responded to a woman asleep at the wheel in a black 2013 Chevrolet truck at 3:10am and the truck was drifting slowly into traffic from the parking lot. Officers banged on the vehicle until Boswell woke and the Officers made sure she was not injured or ill. Officers then arrested Boswell, impounded the truck, then delivered Boswell to the city detention center.

Narcotics/Vice and Gang units executed a search warrant at It’ll Do Saloon (4125 Gollihar) on Thursday, April 10, 2014 at 1:53pm. The search warrant was in reference to a gambling investigation conducted by the Corpus Christi Police Department. The search warrant was executed during business hours and several patrons were contacted.
Eight 8-liner machines and $6,733 in cash were seized. The owner and manager were detained at the scene. Both face charges of Keeping a Gambling Place, Gambling Promotion, and Possession of Gambling Paraphernalia. All of the charges are a Class A misdemeanor punishable by up to a year in jail and up to a $4,000 fine.

Corpus Christi Police arrested 48-year-old Shirley Alvarez (11/02/1965) for driving while intoxicated with an open container of an alcoholic beverage at State Highway 358 and State Highway 44 Friday morning. A Corpus Christi Police Officer saw a silver 2012 Kia Forte drive into a road construction site at 12:12am while workers were present and the Kia continued to drive through the construction. The Officer stopped the Kia and arrested Shirley Alvarez for driving while intoxicated. The Officer discovered an open container of an alcoholic beverage inside the vehicle with Alvarez. The Officer impounded the vehicle and delivered Alvarez to the city detention center.

Corpus Christi Police arrested 27-year-old Aaron Indridson (5/30/1986) for driving while intoxicated when Inridson was found slumped over the steering wheel at the intersection of Ennis Joslin and South Padre Island Drive Friday morning. Corpus Christi Police responded to a complaint of a man slumped over the steering wheel in a white 2008 Ford Fusion while it was stopped at the red light at 12:45am. Officers shook the vehicle to wake the driver, Aaron Inridson, and then made sure Inridson did not suffer any medical issue. The Officers arrested Inridson for driving while intoxicated with a previous conviction and impounded the car. Officers then delivered Inridson to the city detention center.

Corpus Christi Police responded to a complaint of a man asleep at the drive through at 12:33am and woke Charles Hernandez to make sure he did not suffer any medical condition, and then arrested him for driving while intoxicated. A Corpus Christi Police Officer saw a silver 2010 Volkswagen Touran travel the wrong direction on a one way street on the access road of Interstate Highway 37 at 2:50am. The Officer conducted a traffic stop and discovered the driver, Santiago Perez, had a Municipal Court warrant for his arrest for possession of drug paraphernalia. The Officer also discovered Perez did not have a valid driver’s license as it had been suspended six times since November 2005. The Officer arrested Perez and delivered him to the city detention center.

Corpus Christi Police arrested 32-year-old Isabel Vasquez (10/25/1981) for possession of a controlled substance at an apartment public area located at 9320 South Padre Island Drive Monday morning. A Corpus Christi Police Officer conducted patrols through the apartment complex in response to recent burglaries to coin operated machines in which a woman had been viewed on video as the suspect in the crimes. The Officer saw Vasquez at the laundry room at 3:00am and stopped her to investigate. The Officer discovered the woman does not reside at the apartment complex and did not know any person who did live nearby. The Officer discovered contraband with Vasquez that the Officer believed to be methamphetamines and he arrested Vasquez for possession of a controlled substance. The Officer then delivered Vasquez to the city detention center.

Corpus Christi Police arrested 24-year-old Jose Longoria (6/2/1989) for possession of a controlled substance in a parking lot located at 4501 Weber Road Sunday night. Corpus Christi Police responded to a call for a person in need of medical attention in a parked black 2006 Jeep Liberty at 11:07pm. Officers arrived and found 24-year-old Jose Longoria disoriented. Officers and medics determined Longoria did not have a medical complaint, but was under the influence of narcotics. Officers found contraband which the Officers believed to be heroin, crack-cocaine, and medication not prescribed to Longoria and so the Officers arrested Longoria for possession of a controlled substance. The Officers impounded the Jeep and delivered Longoria to the city detention center.

Corpus Christi Police arrested 35-year-old Daniel Williams (9/21/1978) for burglary of a building and a warrant for his arrested after he broke into a medical building located at 3643 South Staples Street Sunday night. Corpus Christi Police responded to an alarm at the building and discovered a broken door. The Officers used the Patrol K9, Kimbo, to search the building and locate Daniel Williams inside. Williams was arrested for burglary and for a warrant for his arrest for criminal mischief. Officers then delivered Williams to the city detention center.

Corpus Christi Police arrested two men Sunday night for theft of metal and other charges at 4520 Crosstown. A 70-year-old man called in a complaint of a theft in progress at 7:45pm Sunday night. Corpus Christi Police saw 45-year-old Raymond Dubberke (11/10/1968) and 43-year-old James Murray (1/11/1971) by the air conditioner system. Dubberke ran from the Officer by was captured by a second Officer. The Officers learned the two men cut wires to eight air conditioner units which caused over $25,000 dollars worth of damage. Dubberke was arrested for theft, tampering with evidence, and for evading arrest. Murray was arrested for the theft at the Officers delivered the two men to the city detention center.

A Corpus Christi Police Officer conducted a traffic stop at 10:52pm when he saw a black Dodge Charger travel 116 miles per hour in a 65 mile per hour zone. The Officer arrested Laurel for reckless driving and impounded the vehicle. The Officer discovered Laurel had three municipal court warrants and Laurel was additionally charged. Corpus Christi Police investigated a vehicle crash at South Padre Island Drive at Weber and learned a driver involved in the crash abandoned a 4-year-old child. Corpus Christi Police responded to the crash at 9:45pm where a black 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe struck the back of a maroon 2010 Ford F-150 pickup. The 59-year-old man who operated the F-150 told Officers the man in the Santa Fe grabbed a child from the vehicle and fled the crash scene before law enforcement arrived. Officers searched and found a four year old child in the bed of a parked pickup truck in a nearby auto dealership. The Officers did not locate the man who drove the Santa Fe, but believe they know the man’s identity. Officers contacted family members of the child and the four year old child was taken to Driscoll Children’s Hospital for treatment of non life-threatening injuries. The Officers impounded the Santa Fe and continue to investigate this case which is punishable by up to 10 years in prison and up to a $10,000 fine.

Corpus Christi Police arrested 21-year-old Jesus Gonzales (2/16/1993) for unlawful carrying of weapons, theft of a firearm, tampering with identifying numbers on a firearm, and a variety of drug charges after a traffic stop on Interstate Highway 37 at Nueces Bay Boulevard Thursday night. A Corpus Christi Police Officer conducted a traffic stop after she saw a blue 2009 Kia Optima fail to signal a lane change. The Officer discovered the operator of the Kia, 21-year-old Jesus Gonzales, did not have a driver’s license and had a warrant for his arrest for criminal mischief. The Officer had Gonzales get out of the car and then discovered Gonzales had a pistol in his waistband. The Officer then discovered Gonzales had narcotics on him. The Officer arrested Gonzales and impounded the vehicle. The Officer saw that a serial number was damaged on the pistol, but was able to determine the pistol was reported stolen from a parked and unattended vehicle on the 2500 block of Goliad Drive in Corpus Christi in September 2013. The Officer then delivered Gonzales to the city detention center.

Corpus Christi Police arrested 32-year-old Robert Solomon (3/11/1982) for discharging a firearm, and a variety of other charges at the 1500 block of Lipan Thursday night. Corpus Christi Police received several complaints at 8:30pm of a person who discharged a firearm in the air from a white Buick in the area of Mexico Street and Comanche Street. A Corpus Christi Police Officer was in the area and conducted a traffic stop on a white Buick at the 1500 block of Lipan. The Officers discovered a pistol that was reported stolen from a home on the 8100 block of Baylark Drive in February 2013. Officers also discovered contraband which Officers believe is crack-cocaine. The Officer arrested Solomon for Theft of a Firearm; Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon; Possession of a Controlled Substance; and Discharging a Firearm Inside the City Limits and then delivered Solomon to the city detention center.

Corpus Christi Police arrested 35-year-old Benjamin Govella (11/3/1978) for unauthorized use of a vehicle at FM 1889 Tuesday morning. A 29-year-old man reported his company truck stolen from a convenience store located at 14901 Northwest Boulevard at 10:10am. The 29-year-old man explained to Officers that he left the keys in the ignition with the engine running while he went into the store and the truck was gone when the 29-year-old man returned. The Nueces County Sheriff’s Office worked with the Corpus Christi Police to track the vehicle to a private driveway on FM 1889 by a locator device on the truck. Corpus Christi Police arrested Govella for unauthorized use of a vehicle which is punishable by up to two years in prison and up to a $10,000 fine. The truck was returned to the 29-year-old man and Officers delivered Govella to the city detention center.

A 28-year-old man reported a burglary of his vehicle while it was parked overnight at an apartment parking lot located at 5757 Wooldridge Road to the Corpus Christi Police. The 28-year-old man told Officers some unknown person entered his silver 2011 Chevrolet Silverado pickup while it was parked and unattended overnight and the person took a pistol left inside the truck.

Corpus Christi Police arrested 24-year-old Debbie Salazar (9/9/1989) for unauthorized use of a vehicle on the 1200 block of South Port Avenue Tuesday morning. A Corpus Christi Police Officer saw a brake light out on a white 2000 GMC Yukon which was stopped at the intersection of Port and Morgan. The Officer conducted a traffic stop for the inoperable brake light and discovered the Yukon was reported stolen hours earlier from a restaurant at the 200 block of North Staples Street. The original report stated that a 47-year-old man reported the Yukon stolen at 3:30pm and told Officers he left the keys in the ignition and the engine running while he went inside to get food. The Officer who conducted the traffic stop at 12:12am on April 1st impounded the Yukon and delivered Salazar to the city detention center.

Corpus Christi Police responded to a head-on vehicle crash which killed a 20-year-old man on the 10600 block of State Highway 361 between Newport Pass Road and Beach Access Road 3 at 1:50am Sunday morning. Officers learned that a white 1014 Chevrolet pickup truck driven by a 24-year-old man travelled south on State Highway 361 and struck a black 2003 Nissan Altima in a head-on collision as the Altima traveled north. The Corpus Christi Fire Department responded and determined the 20-year-old man who operated the Altima did not survive the crash. The Corpus Christi Police Traffic Safety Section responded to the scene and believes the impact happened in the northbound lanes which lead Investigators to believe the truck traveled outside of the designated lane and into on-coming traffic. A 21-year-old woman was a passenger in the Altima was taken by ambulance to the hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. There were no other people in the Altima at the time of the crash. The 24-year-old man was the only person inside the truck and the 24-year-old man was taken to the hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
A man in a blue 2008 Chrysler Sebring stopped next to the pickup truck which was overturned and in the middle of the road. The man in the Chrysler got out of his car to offer help before the emergency crews arrived. A black 2007 Ford Mustang operated by a 30-year-old man was unable to see the crashed truck and the parked Chrysler in time to avoid a collision because of fog and struck both the truck and the Chrysler while no person was inside the truck or Chrysler. The 30-year-old man and his two women passengers were not injured in the second crash. Emergency crews arrived to set up lights and avoid another collision on the highway until the debris was cleaned. The entire highway was closed to traffic for about four hours.
The Corpus Christi Police discovered evidence that alcohol consumption may be a contributing factor to the original crash. The 24-year-old man who operated the pickup truck remained in the hospital for medical treatment and Investigators have collected a specimen of his blood for analysis. Investigators generated an investigation for intoxicated manslaughter which is punishable by up to 20 years in prison and up to a $10,000 fine.

Corpus Christi Police arrested 37-year-old John Guerra (3/4/1977) for a variety of charges after he fled from state police Friday night. Corpus Christi Police were called by the Texas Department of Public Safety at 10:40pm Friday night to assist with a vehicle pursuit from Port Aransas. Corpus Christi Police Officers set up tire deflation devices on the road of Highway 361, but the suspect vehicle avoided the devices. The devices were struck by two uninvolved civilian cars, a vehicle for the Texas Parks and Wild Life Department and two cars for the Texas Department of Public Safety. The vehicle pursuit was then cancelled.
A Corpus Christi Police Officer saw the suspect vehicle again at 1:30am Saturday and initiated a traffic stop. The vehicle fled and the Corpus Christi Police Officer did not continue the pursuit in compliance with Department policy. A Warden of the Texas Department of Public Safety did continue to pursue the vehicle. Corpus Christi Police Officers deployed tire deflation devices and were successful to safely deflate the tires of the suspect vehicle. The vehicle came to a stop at the Oso Bay turnaround and the operator fled on foot. Corpus Christi Police chased and captured Guerra. Officers arrested Guerra for evading arrest in a vehicle, evading arrest on foot, a warrant for his arrest for a parole violation for robbery, and for possession of drug paraphernalia. Officers impounded the red 2010 Ford Raptor Guerra used in this event and delivered Guerra to the city detention center.

UPDATE: At about 2:10 p.m. Detectives with the Family Violence Unit arrested Frank Cordova (11/27/1970) on two warrants that were obtained earlier in the day. The two warrants were for Aggravated Assault w/Deadly Weapon. Each warrant had a $150,000 bond.
Officers were dispatched to the Stoneleigh Apartments for a shots fired call. Upon arriving they observed a 59-year-old male on the ground near the garage area of the apartments with injuries to his face. The victim stated that a 43-year-old man had hit him with a car while he was near the garage. The male victim stated to Officers that he had a handgun and had shot at the suspect’s vehicle as it fled the area. Officers then located a second victim, which was the 31-year-old estranged wife of the suspect, with injuries as well. Both victims were transported to Spohn MMC with non life threatening injuries. Officers located the handgun used by the 59-year-old male. It was tagged as evidence.
Officers were able to obtain information on the suspect and searched the immediate area but were unable to find the suspect. Soon thereafter the suspect made contact with the Officers to give his side of the story. Officers also located the suspect vehicle, where it was impounded for investigation. No arrests were made.
