The caller, 56-year-old Daniel Scott advised that he was armed and that his neighbors were posing a threat. It is believed that Mr. Scott was suffering from mental illness.

Both officers have been placed on paid administrative leave which is standard procedure in these types of incidents. Although the investigation is ongoing and still in its early stage, I feel confident the investigation will determine that our officers acted in accordance with department policy.
