Arson Suspects Arrested

MetroCom dispatch received a call for suspicious persons outside of an apartment at Treyway Terrace Apartments. Witnesses stated that four individuals were outside of the apartments and had started a fire near one of the apartments.

The first Officer arriving saw a vehicle matching the description that was called in leaving the area. He then saw that there was smoke and a fire near one of the apartments. He, along with neighbors, were able to extinguish the fire with water hoses. The Officer attempted to make contact with the apartment occupants but found no one home. Several more witnesses then spoke to the Officers and gave descriptions of those responsible for the fire.

Officers, who were making their way to the apartment complex, were able to see the suspect vehicle leaving and made a traffic stop on it. The four individuals inside of the vehicle, Abel Castaneda Jr (7.9.1992), Michael Franco (7.11.1993) Daniel Garza (12.8.1992) and Jorge Perez (4.26.1993) were taken back to the location of the fire. There, witnesses identified them as being the ones who started the fire. All four were arrested for Arson.

Musicians Heavy Metal Christian Music Quieted by Thieves

Officers contacted Blak Fate band members who reported their U-Haul trailer loaded with their musical instruments was stolen from the Red Roof Inn early Sunday morning between 6:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m.  The San Antonio based band was in town for a charity performance.

On October 17th, at 3:29 a.m. Officers recovered the stolen U-Haul trailer behind the KFTX 97.5 FM parking lot.  The U-Haul had been emptied of all the musical equipment.

Child Custody Dispute Turns Violent, One Person Arrested

Officers responded to an assault in progress in which the suspect was assaulting the 29-year-old mother of his child.  Officers arrived to find the victim crawling from underneath the garage door.  The victim told Officers she was in her vehicle when her child’s father suddenly appeared next to her car door.

The couple struggled over a taser which escalated into an assault.  The victim was able to escape into the residence, followed closely by the suspect.  Once inside the residence, the victim was assaulted once more.

The victim was able to escape and call police.  Officers attempted to contact the suspect, but he fled inside the residence and locked the doors.

An on-duty Hostage Negotiation Team member was able to talk David O’Dell Gonzalez (02/16/87), who was armed with a knife, into surrendering.  Gonzalez was arrested and charged with an outstanding Nueces County warrant for Contempt of Court (No Bond) along with Assault ~Family Violence.

Aggravated Assault (Shooting)

Officers were dispatched for a shooting at Harbour Landing Apartments. As they arrived they located a 20 year old victim with a gunshot wound to his thigh. The victim told Officers that he had been shot by male who was walking by him as he was outside of his apartment. He was transported to Spohn Memorial for treatment to his leg.

Witnesses told Officers that they had heard two shots. Officers on the scene were only able to collect one shell casing. Detectives with the Robbery/Homicide Division were called to process the crime scene. The case is still under investigation.

 

 

 

Buy Me a Beer and We Forget About It!!

Officers responded to an accident involving a pedestrian.  Further investigation revealed the 45-year-old pedestrian was crossing the street with the walk sign illuminated when he was struck by a blue 2008 Chevrolet Silverado

The victim sustained a minor abrasion to his hand and was transported to Bay Area Hospital by Officers.

According to the Supervisor on scene, the driver told Officers tha the victim tried to negotiate a deal with him before Officers arrived. The victim requested that the driver buy him a beer and he would forget the accident had ever happened. The driver did not take him up on the offer.

The 23-year-old driver was cited for Failure to Yield ROW ~ Pedestrian in Crosswalk.

Motorcyclist Crashes Into Tree, Fractures Arm

Officers responded to an accident involving a motorcycle. Upon their arrival, Officers contacted the 25-year-old who reported he lost control of his black 1982 Honda motorcycle and left the roadway.

The driver continued on through some brush and came to stop when he struck a tree. The driver was wearing a helmet and sustained a fractured arm. He was transported to Spohn Memorial for medical treatment.

Pit Bulls Thwart Burglars

Officers contacted the 43-year-old homeowner who reported her residence was burglarized some time during the night. The victim told Officers her four pit bulls were inside the home when the burglary took place.

One of the pit bulls was fatally stabbed by the burglar or burglars, while another pit bull sustained head injuries.  The burglar or burglars attempted to steal the television set, but they were unsuccessful.

Ex-Boyfriend Arrested After Visitation Dispute

Occurred on 9/28/11, 2:00 p.m.   Assault   3701 Cimarron Blvd.   1109280082 

Officers contacted the 16-year-old victim who reported she was assaulted by her ex-boyfriend Alfonso Martin-DelCampo (05/27/92) when he stopped by her residence unexpectedly to pick up his children and his personal property. 

 An argument ensued in which DelCampo grabbed the victim and punched her in the abdomen.  The victim sustained minor injuries. 

DelCampo was arrested and charged with Assault by Contact.

Officers Dispatched To Man Down Call, Find One Person Critically Injured And Another Deceased

Officers responded early Sunday morning to Sky Harbor Apartments for a man down call. Upon their arrival, Officers found a 47-year-old victim who was rushed to Spohn Memorial. He underwent surgery and is currently listed in Critical Condition. The method of his injury is yet to be established.

Officers on scene, requested the assistance of the police department’s S.W.A.T. Team who evacuated nearby residents and made entry into the apartment without incident. S.W.A.T. Team members found one person deceased inside the apartment.

At this time, the investigation is ongoing and has been turned over to the Homicide/Robbery Bureau.

Lawrence Daniel (11/25/1965)

A local auto parts store was the victim of a recent business burglary. The manager of that store received a phone call from someone claiming to be “Larry” early Thursday morning. Larry told the manager he was in possession of an air compressor that he (Larry) believed was stolen from the auto parts store. Larry told the manager he would return the compressor, but he wanted a reward. Larry then gave the manager his address.

With this information, the manager contacted the Police Department and Officers escorted the manager to a house in the 1400 block of Clare Dr. At that location, the group met Lawrence Daniel (11/25/1965) and discovered that he did have the a stolen air compressor. Unfortunately for Lawrence it was discovered he had a felony arrest warrant for DWI. Lawrence was arrested and the property was returned to the manager of the store. Burglary Detectives are investigating where Lawrence got the property.
