Traffic Safety Section Investigates Pedestrian Crash on Staples

Corpus Christi Police responded to a major vehicle crash that involved a pedestrian on the 5800 block of Staples Street Tuesday night.  Officers learned that an unidentified woman walked across Staples at about 9:30pm from the Country Village shopping area towards Burnham.  Witnesses told Officers that the woman did not react to the horns honking in efforts to alert her as she was in the street.  A 37-year-old man drove a full size pickup with a heavy brush guard which struck the woman.  Officers observed no indication of impairment with the 37-year-old man, and he was released at the scene.  At the time of this report, the woman is in the Intensive Care Unit in critical condition.  No citations or criminal charges have been applied in this crash.

Cops Search For Plant Thief

Corpus Christi Police Property Crimes would like help from the public to identify and locate a man who stole plants from the front porch of a house on the 1000 block of Barracuda Place last Wednesday.

A 42-year-old man reported the theft of three plants from his front porch to Corpus Christi Police at 5:40pm on May 25th.  The 42-year-old man provided surveillance video images of an unknown man who drove a pickup truck into the driveway of the 42-year-old man’s home at about 10:50am. The 42-year-old man told Officers two men got out of the truck, walked up to the porch, and, without permission, took three plants valued at about $150 dollars.

The 42-year-old man told the Officers the driver of the pick-up was an adult male about 40 years old, 200lbs, with black hair, black mustache, medium skin tone, and wore a blue shirt and blue jeans.
The 42-year-old man told Officers the passenger was an adult male, about 30-35 years old, 200-210 lbs, bald, medium skin tone, and wore a green plaid button shirt and blue jean shorts. The 42-year-old man told Officers the men used a vehicle described as an older model Ford F-150, tan in color, extra cab and appears to have a large dent on the back right quarter panel  between the wheel well and the tailgate.

Witness Being Sought- Fatal Crash

Police traffic investigators are reaching out to the occupants of a black pick up truck that was involved in a minor crash prior to a fatal crash.  The black pick up probably sustained rear end damage in that minor crash.  Investigators believe that there were also several passengers in the truck at the time of this incident.

The driver of the truck is not a suspect in the fatal crash investigation but is thought to be a witness to the events prior to the fatal crash.

Police Work Traffic Crash With Fatal Injury On Weber Road

Corpus Christi Police worked the year’s 9th vehicle crash with fatal injury overnight on the 5800 block of Weber Road.

Corpus Christi Police responded to the 5800 block of Weber Road for a major vehicle crash.  Investigation revealed that a 42-year-old man drove his Mercury Grand Marquis northbound on Weber.  Witnesses told Officers that the Marquis collided with the backside of a truck just north of Caravelle Parkway.  Witnesses told Officers the Grand Marquis veered to the left and struck a telephone pole on the HEB side.  Witnesses told Officers the truck stopped, then fled the area without providing any information. The 42-year-old man was pronounced deceased at the scene.  Several witnesses were interviewed.  Officers are not certain if the 42-year-old man had a passenger who fled the scene.

The Corpus Christi Police Traffic Safety Section responded to the scene and used laser mapping to construct a scale diagram of the crash.  AEP responded and braced the pole.

The Corpus Christi Police Traffic Safety Section are searching for the truck and do not know why it left the area. A 50-year-old woman reported her car stolen from a friend’s apartment to the Corpus Christi Police at a little before 1am Sunday morning.
The 50-year-old woman told Officers she was at a friend’s apartment drinking when she left her car keys unattended while she went to the bathroom. The 50-year-old woman told Officers when she came out of the bathroom, she noticed her keys gone, and she looked outside to see her silver 2003 Pontiac Grand Am gone. The 50-year-old woman told Officers she does not know who took her car. The vehicle has not yet been located.

A 23-year-old woman reported a robbery at a store located at 2978 Holly Road to Corpus Christi Police Sunday night.
The 23-year-old woman told Officers a heavy-set adult male who wore a bandana over his face and gloves displayed a handgun and demanded cash from the register. The male fled on foot north, then got into a possible gray car on Santa Sofia. No injuries were reported and the man remains at large.

A 49-year-old woman reported a robbery at a store located at 4237 Kostoryz Road at 9:35 pm to the Corpus Christi Police Sunday night.
The 49-year-old woman told Officers a man came into the store and displayed a handgun then demanded cash and cigarettes. The 49-year-old woman described the man as an adult male, 5feet 5 inches tall with a tattoo under his right eye, and a sleeve tattoos on his right arm. The 49-year-old woman told Officers the man was dressed in black with a black hoodie , black and white Nike shoes and wore blue latex gloves. The man was last seen running south on Kostoryz. No injuries were reported and the man remains at large.

Woman Steals Bag From Busy Restaurant During Lunch Hour

Corpus Christi Police would like help from the public to identify and locate a woman accused of stealing a “Hobo” bag full of valuables from a restaurant on April 29, 2016.

The 45-year-old woman who owns the restaurant reported the theft to Corpus Christi Police and explained that an unknown woman took a business shoulder bag which contained money and other items without permission. The 45-year-old woman told Officers the bag was left unattended in a chair near the kitchen on the south side of the dining room when the unknown woman picked up the bag, and left the restaurant while the dining room was full of customers. The 45-year-old woman showed Officers the video of the dining room which shows the woman pick up the bag, then pick up a baby, and leave the restaurant while a second unknown woman paid for the meal the suspect and the other woman had for lunch.

The 45-year-old woman described the suspect as a heavy set adult female in her Late 20`s, wearing an orange and white short Halter top sun dress with a tattoo on her upper right arm.

Boy Reports Stranger Danger To Police at Hamlin And Gollihar

A 13-year-old boy reported an attempted aggravated kidnapping at the intersection of Hamlin Drive and Gollihar Street on April 14, 2016 to the Corpus Christi Police.

The 13-year-old boy told Officers he walked on the 4500 block of Hamlin Drive when a man approached and tried to embrace the boy in a hug. The 13-year-old boy told Officers that he never saw the man prior to this day and that the unknown man eventually displayed a handgun to the boy. The 13-year-old boy told Officers that he ran from the man, the firearm was not discharged, and no one was injured. The 13-year-old boy told Officers that he delayed several days to report the incident because he was embarrassed to tell anyone.

The 13-year-old boy described the man as a 30-year-old male, about 5 feet 3 inches tall, with a fade haircut, no facial hair, wore all black clothing, black shoes, had a gold tooth and had blue flames with names inside the flames tattooed on both arms.

Corpus Christi Police Detectives have searched the registered sex offenders in Corpus Christi and continue to search for the suspect who remains at large. The public may view registered sex offenders at the website, Crimereports.com.

Man Breaks Into Home On Whitewing Drive Then Injures People Inside

Corpus Christi Police are investigating a burglary case in which a 34-year-old man is accused of breaking into a home on the 6700 block of Whitewing Drive Saturday morning and exchanging gunfire with the people inside the home.

Corpus Christi Police responded to a complaint of gunshots from inside a home on the 6700 block of Whitewing Drive at 1:30am Saturday morning. Responding Officers saw a 34-year-old man outside the home with apparent injuries and a firearm when the Officers arrived. Officers confronted the 34-year-old man and disarmed him. The 34-year-old man got into a vehicle and left the scene and Officers followed the 34-year-old man. The 34-year-old man was stopped at the 7000 block of Ayers and Officers apprehended the 34-year-old man and took him to the hospital for treatment of what the Officers believe are gunshot wounds.

The Officers who remained at the scene on Whitewing went to the house and learned that an injured 36-year-old woman was inside the home with her 20-year-old son. The Officers were told that the 36-year-old woman is not a resident of the home, and that the 34-year-old man had a romantic relationship with the 36 woman and the relationship has dissolved. Officers were told that the 34-year-old man forced entry into the home, confronted the 36-year-old woman, and injured her with a firearm and was stopped by the 20-year-old man who used a firearm to repel the attack from the 34-year-old man. Officers were told the 34-year-old man left the home and were then confronted by Corpus Christi Police. The 36-year-old woman was transported to the hospital by ambulance for injuries the Officers believe were caused by gunshots.

No Officers discharged their firearms and no other injuries were reported. The 34-year-old man and the 36 year old woman remained hospitalized at the time of this report and their conditions are not known as they continue to receive medical treatment. Officers believe there are no outstanding suspects related to this case.

Corpus Christi Police Detectives and the Forensics Services Technicians arrived at the scene to gather evidence and information. The 34-year-old man is accused of Burglary of a Habitation, a second degree felony punishable by up to 20 years in prison and up to a $10,000 fine, but other criminal accusations are expected to be applied to the 34-year-old man. The 20-year-old man was not physically injured and has no criminal accusations made against him.

Corpus Christi Police Detectives would like to have complete information related to this case and urge anyone with any information about this case to call 886-2600 and provide the information to Detectives in reference to this case number.

Police Investigate Homicide on North Shea Parkway Friday Morning

Corpus Christi Police are investigating a homicide on the 4700 block of North Shea Parkway Friday morning.

Corpus Christi Police responded to a complaint of a shooting on the 4700 block of North Shea Parkway at a little before one o-clock in the morning and discovered a white four door sedan with two people who appeared to have gunshot wounds. An injured adult male was transported by ambulance to the hospital for treatment of serious head trauma. An adult woman was pronounced dead at the scene and the Officers initiated a homicide investigation.

Corpus Christi Police Homicide Detectives and the Forensics lab technicians responded to gather information and evidence from the crime scene. Detectives have not identified the two victims as of this report so ages are not immediately available. Witnesses have provided information to Detectives, but there is no specific suspect description available for public release until certain details may be verified. Detectives are concerned that there may be witnesses to the event who may not have provided information to Police. The person or persons responsible have not been apprehended and Detectives would like help from the public to identify and locate anyone involved.

Man Robs Bank on Staples Street

Corpus Christi Police are investigating a bank robbery that happened at 4115 Staples Street on Thursday.

Corpus Christi Police responded to a complaint of a bank robbery at 10:50am at a bank located on Staples and Barry Street. The bank employees told Officers that a man with a dark skin complexion who wore a black ball cap, black jacket, dark jeans and white tennis shoes, went into  the bank and passed a note to the teller which demanded cash. The bank employees told Officers the man did not display a weapon. The bank employees told Officers the teller provided the man with cash and the man left the bank and ran south from Staples through the parking lot toward Golihar.

No injuries were reported and the man remains at large. Corpus Christi Police Detectives and Forensics Lab Technicians arrived at the bank to gather information and evidence. Detectives would now like help from the public to identify and locate the man who robbed the bank.
